This guy loves the good old days of Pakistani pace bowling... Actually calls Pakistani bowlers gun bowlers :D

Inswingers: Imran Khan
Bouncers: Wahab Riaz :o :o :o
Yorkers: Waqar Younis (man watching those yorkers feels so good)

He's not the only one. I've heard Steyn say one of his idols was Shoaib Akhtar.

I can’t explain how much I miss those Waqar yorkers. What a time it was

Wahab is an odd choice. Many other bounce bowlers. Better. Shoaib best in class.

Rest is fine, they were the best in cricket.

Those guys actually performed in the sub-continent, genius.

Pakistani fast bowlers of past have been inspiration to.budding fast bowlers throughout the world..

Wasim, waqar, Imran and Shoaib are legends and will always inspire kids.

Some have done positive things with that inspiration but others havent.

Imran and Waqar are icons of Fast bowling

Fast, Style , Swagger they got all.

Good thing is that fast bowling culture is reviving back in country

Hm?

Well, not with Mir Hamza, Ehsan Adil, Aizaz Cheema, Junaid Khan, or Sadaf!

A very average trundler galore!

They are the ones most hyped here, because they're not in the team. And sadly the kind playing domestic cricket, full of mediocre trundlers.

Not a lot of good fast bowlers, maybe one or two who are VERY raw and not even started FC cricket properly.

Like Naseem Shah. Who seems to have potential.

Who else is there?

amir, shinwari, afridi, abbas , hasan etc are much better than we had few years back. Between Akhtar and Asif and current lot was our weakest period of fast bowling.

Although the performance of Pakistani bowling attack is quite decent but I can imagine Rabada being highly disappointed as a fan to see them. Not one bowler in this bunch is the sort of guy who a teenager will look at and say, "I want to bowl like that". Such a sad state of affairs.

Asif and Amir combo back in 2010 seemed to have the potential to bring the culture back. But Asif ruined it and Amir after comeback has rarely shown the same flair with pace and swing, right now he just operates by keeping it tight and playing the waiting game.

Still believe the best fast bowler to have come out of Pakistan is Mohammed Asif. He and Mohammed Zahid (albeit a short period) were my favorites. Separating, the art from the artist, I think Asif was a magician with the ball and actually knew how to make the ball talk!

Shinwari isn't good enough, Abbas is yet to be tested much, Hasan is good but not consistent enough.

Only Amir's consistently taking wickets. And Shaheen too is doing decent, but too raw atm.

But seems like our bowling coach is instilling the 'line n length' medium pace mentality into our bowlers. Amir also needs to regain his perfect rhythm.

I knew this would happen once Azhar was made bowling coach.

What kind of thinking is making a medium-pace all-rounder the bowling coach?

Arshad Iqbal, Shaheen's partner in the under 19 WC. When I saw him I rated him a better prospect than Shaheen. Doesn't have the raw pace that Naseem may have but definitely has the potential to operate around the 139-140 mark, might even become faster and with his height of 6'2" he'll be a handful. Though I fear that if he doesn't get taken under the wing of the national set-up or a PSL team soon he may regress into another trundler like so many before him.

Musa Khan also part of the U19 trio signed by Islamabad United hit the 145-146 mark multiple times during the U19 WC and bowled at around the 140 mark for usually.

But all of them are just kids with potential at the moment.

Rabada can watch BPL to see one of his favourites in action....

Pakistani pacers have inspired many outside of Pakistan. Wasim was the one Pakistani player who forced me to tune in for Pakistani matches in 90s irrespective of match situations. Joy to watch!!

Reminds me of a line from the book "Art of Fast Bowling" by Dennis Lillee

He broke it down into a robot like player. Imagine this, the breathtaking run up of Wes Hall, the silk smooth delivery of Ray Lindwall, the blistering pace of Jeff Thompson, the fire brand aggression of Fred Trueman, the scintillating swing of Alan Davidson, the accuracy of Brain Statham, the devastating cut of John Snow, the lethal bouncer of Charlie Griffith, the demoralizing yorker of Andy Roberts, the stamina of Mike Procter and the sheer brilliance of Keith Miller. Boy !!! What a bowler.

That's all we are left with ow, watching and remembering golden days of Pakistan cricket, similarly in hockey.

Looks a real student of the game for a 23 yr old guy to pick Imran as your favourite inswing bowler show the amount of study he has done on fast bowling.

I agree... Imran doesn't come up alot in these lists. Surely a big trait to notice from someone only 23. Surely his father or some of his family members would be big fans of the Pakistan cricket team back in the day.

Reminds me of Usain Bolt, who also was a big fan of Pakistani bowlers...
