Irritating or does it bring the game closer to the fans?

Don’t know about closer to fans but if this idea picks up we will see cricket get closer to WWE style. Players saying funny or provocative things to make the “match” exciting. Hope it is kept like a one off random stump byte like it was.

Won't this put them off their game? surely they need to be concentrating on their game rather than thinking of saying something witty?

Sounds ridiculous.
And why only pick one individual from one side?

All players on the field should then have these mics - and the cricket match will become a zoo.

Dunno where they get these gimmicks from.

Most fan's aren't interested and just want a fair contest between bat and ball without the need for gimmicks.

It really is that simple.

Well the way Pak players speak in most post-match interviews a la Inzy, I'd be curious to see what they say while batting.

Babar: "Qudrat ki Nisam, Qudrat ki Nisam, WWWWWAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTT, Qudrat ki Nisam, Qudrat ki Nisam, ..."

Brilliant energy from Warner .Something young cricketers should learn from him he is always proactive at the crease

Not a great idea but would love to hear a discussion between babar and rizwan during power play

This would be great for fans and provide fantastic insight to the audience. Only thing is that it should never be broadcast live, but rather edited afterward, so batsmen don't have to be distracted by being careful about what they say.

What about the opposition team staff and dressing room listening to it and then conveying back to team. Maybe they need to broadcast it after the over or something

Yes, edited, post-game version is a better idea. Guess something like this would never happen in football as too much strategy to give away.

But it does make it interesting.
