Multiple users on social media platform X have been sharing a purported document since Thursday, titled “catering guidelines” from the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, DC — where PTI founder Imran Khan’s sons recently dined during their visit to the US capital — claiming the club does not serve halal food. However, the document is fake.

Earlier this month, Imran’s sons — Sulaiman Khan, 28, and Kasim Khan, 26 — kicked off a campaign calling for their father’s release from prison. The siblings are currently in the US and holding engagements with lawmakers for this purpose in Washington, DC.

On July 25, the X account of PML-N Digital shared a post with an image of the two siblings at Capitol Hill Club, a private clubhouse in Washington, DC, with Republican Congressman Joe Wilson.

The post was captioned: “Imran Niazi’s sons’ illicit feasting”, with an additional claim: “Capitol Hill Club, where Kasim and Sulaiman ate, doesn’t even have halal food available.”

The post also shared an alleged document claiming to show the club’s catering guidelines.

The last paragraph of the document reads: “If the guaranteed number declines significantly, for the original expecteal guests should reserve the right to change the room to a more appropriate size. We don’t offer halal or Kosher food as per restaurant policy”

The post was shared at 11:32am, and the account is followed by PML-N’s official X account.

A similar post featuring the same alleged document and caption was shared a day earlier, on July 24, by an X user who is a PTI critic, according to his past posts.

The caption of his post said: “The biggest proof has arrived. Imran’s sons ate at the Capitol Hill Club, this is the club’s menu card, it details the food and also states that halal and kosher are not served in the club. So the meat was pork, the youth are indulging in forbidden food and lying.”

His post received over 63,000 views.

The alleged document and caption were further amplified by a regional PML-N official on X.

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality, keen public interest in Imran’s sons and to address the potential harmful impact of such rumours about them.

Reviewing the document via fake image and AI detection tools such as Fake Image Detector showed that it flagged it as being “computer-generated or modified” while another version of the tool said the authenticity of the document was 25 per cent with the overall score at 66pc, which indicates a “moderate likelihood of manipulation”.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan has reportedly barred his sons from visiting Pakistan ahead of the planned protests in August, ARY News reported on Tuesday, citing sources.

Earlier reports had suggested that Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan were expected to arrive in Pakistan to lead the August demonstrations.

In recent days, the former prime minister’s sons have held key meetings in the United States.

Earlier, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali told a party session that the PTI founder’s both sons will join the party’s workers in the movement.

“Whenever we announce a movement you arrest our people,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said here on Sunday. Addressing to the parliamentary session of the PTI Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) here Gandapur said, “If you will fire bullet at me, a bullet could also hit you,” PTI’s firebrand leader said.

“If you act illegally, we will also do the same,” KP chief minister said. “Maulana Sahib himself sitting on Form 47, instead of change in KP, he should bring a change himself,” in a broadside at JUI chief, Ali Amin Gandapur said.

He said that the movement has already begun, and a decisive outcome will come within 90 days.

Imran's sons have applied for Pakistan visas, says Awan​

Senior lawyer Babar Awan has warned that if "oppression" against PTI founder Imran Khan continues, his sons are likely to return to the country.

He added that they have already applied for visas to come back.

"There is concern regarding the sons that if [their] communication is allowed [with Imran Khan], they may return. I share this concern. If these injustices persist, they will certainly come back," Awan said.

The senior lawyer was speaking to media outside the Islamabad High Court.

He clarified that the PTI founder's sons are not involved in politics. "According to the law, they should be allowed to speak to their father at least once a week, yet months have passed without any communication," he noted.

Awan criticized statements by two federal ministers who claimed that the PTI founder would not be allowed to meet anyone until Feb 8, saying they had no legal authority to issue such directives. "Under the law, this amounts to two offensesexceeding authority and violating the Constitution," he said.

He explained that only the court, which sends a prisoner to jail, and the jail authorities have the legal right to regulate or permit visits. "No one else has this authority. On what grounds have these ministers blocked meetings?" he questioned.

Referring to the prison time of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, Awan said they had meetings inside jail cells, with "50 visitors" allowed at a time under NAB custody. "The only fear seems to be of the PTI founder," Awan said.

Imran Khan’s sons have 0 political charisma unfortunately. They seem like nice, articulate and educated boys who had a good upbringing. However you need a certain charisma and presence to be in politics.

Firstly they look too much like goras and on top of that their communication is limited to English and they look rich and well groomed. Maybe this is why they are not getting enough sympathy from the public I guess. Semantics do matter.

Islamabad court orders jail authorities to allow Imran’s contact with sons, check-up by personal physician Tahir Naseer

A special court in Islamabad on Tuesday instructed the Adiala Jail authorities to allow PTI founder Imran Khan to hold a telephone conversation with his sons abroad and also be allowed a medical checkup by his personal physician.

Last month, Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand approved two petitions filed on behalf of Imran related to the requests. The court had sought a response from Adiala authorities to provide the facilities.

A report to the judge from the jail superintendent on Monday had called for the court’s orders on January 10 and February 3 to be reviewed and set aside due to “being inconsistent and contrary to the basic rights and principle of recognition of the inherent dignity and equal inalienable rights of inmates”, arguing that extending the two facilities to Imran would be against the spirit of the Constitution, as well as Pakistan Prison Rules.

A court order issued today, available with Dawn.com, said the judgements passed on Jan 10 and 28 and Feb 3 were passed after taking into account all relevant factors and could not be received without any solid reason and thus, the jail superintendent’s request was turned down.

The order instructed the superintendent to “strictly follow” the three orders in “letter and spirit”. The hearing was adjourned to next Wednesday.

A day prior, Imran’s sons — Suleman Khan (28) and Qasim Khan (26) — had called attention to their father’s incarceration. The two, in a rare public appearance, had appealed for his release, claiming that their phone calls were set up with their father at odd times with limited duration, adding that the failure to miss the calls “meant going a long time before they could talk to him again.”

They had further claimed they spoke to Imran only once every two or three months.

Imran, imprisoned since August 2023, is serving a sentence at the Adiala Jail in the £190 million corruption case and also faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the May 9, 2023, protests.

They haven't been groomed for politics, so we shouldn't judge them on their lack of charisma.

Apart from campaigning for their fathers release they have avoided politics in Pakistan and in the UK.

I think they realise the stuff in bolded, they aren;t attempting to try and convince Pak public, they are attempting to bring attention from nGO's other governments.
