Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has weighed in on the India-Pakistan fixture in Asia Cup 2025, saying, “I am okay. The sport must go on. At the same time, Pahalgam should not happen, but the sport must go on. Terrorism must not happen; it needs to be stopped.”

His remarks come amid rising tensions after ACC President Mohsin Naqvi unveiled the official Asia Cup 2025 schedule, setting the high-profile India-Pakistan clash for 14 September. Several Indians have since called for a boycott of matches against Pakistan, blaming the recent Pahalgam incident on Pakistan.

The fallout has already affected cricket between the arch-rivals, with a recent WCL 2025 fixture between the two nations cancelled due to India’s refusal to participate

Ganguly is a normal and sane individual, unlike alot of other Indian ex-cricketers who are constantly trying to prove their patriotism by doing publicity stunts. Even when he was BCCI President he tried to steer clear of politics. If I'm not wrong the far-right nuts in India even targeted his daughter online some years ago, after she criticized the Citizenship Amendment Act and compared it to fascism.

Perhaps ask your government to stop doing Pahalgam and stop killing their own civilians? While at it also ask your Terorrist Hindudva aatankis to stop blowing up innocent people in Pakistan. They been planning and financing terrorism in Pakistan for decades. Any other sports these cry babies propaganda based drama queens would have been kicked out of the game long back with their nonsensical dirty politics

He signed off the FTP too as BCCI representative in which Pakistan was awarded CT hosting rights
 
Phattu Ganguly, he probably realized the legal and financial consequences to the. BCCI from withdrawing from the Asia Cup, hence why he is backtracking. Coward.

Before champion trophy your Naqvi said ' We will not think about hybrid model at all , champion trophy will be played only in pakistan but we know the history very well. :kp

This game will not happen. I am just saying things as it is. The way entire opposition cornered Govt in parliament, there is no way BJP govt will allow this. It will be a political suicide for them so close to Bihar and Bengal elections.

My hunch is, Asia cup will happen but organizers will find some loopholes. Something like India and Pak will be in seperate groups initially. Then if both teams qualify for next round, which we know they will, can face each other in super fours and final. In that way BCCI/Govt can send the message out that look we are not playing Pakistan intentionally but due to circumstantial nature of the tournament.

Ganguly was the captain when India smashed Pakistan in 2003 world cup , Won the ODI and test series in Pakistan as an captain in 2004.
