[VIDEO] Riz Ahmed on the Jimmy Kimmel show

Top guy

Definitely prefer him over the insecure Kumail Nanjiani

What do you make of The Night of?
I thought he acted brilliantly in first couple of episodes but the show itself sucked big time. Why is it rated so high?

Why do you think the show sucked?

It started off really well but just couldn't sustain itself afterwards. I thought the jail scenes with Omar were really weird and out of place tbh. Less said about the ending the better.

I think it's a brilliant series. Riz's acting was exceptional.

No man. Since OZ I can't recall any other show where jail scenes impress me. Maybe Prison Brake's season 1 and 2.

The Night Of was impressive from 1st minute. 9.5/10.

Riz is a proper artist.

I liked the show. It was very different to what I watch.

The acting was insane. I think it got more hype than the quality but certainly didn't 'suck'

"The Night of" was a brilliant show. Loved the mood and atmosphere. It was cinematic, which is rare for a TV show. Riz is brilliant in that and so is Turturro. I think the female lawyer getting so involved with Riz's character was the only over the top thing for me in the show but otherwise, a pretty engrossing show.

Really disappointing show apart from the awesome first episode. Really admire Riz Ahmed though

Yeah, the lawyer affair didn't really work, it just didn't make much sense, but otherwise I loved the show. It was good to see a tv show that was a success for it's own sake first, and that Riz Khan carried the flag for Asian actors was a welcome bonus. It will help American Indian actors as well down the line, obviously he has become well known in the US as well now. We British Pakistanis don't expect or need any thanks by the way, if we can help American Indians and Pakistanis by leading the way, glad to do it.

What's this show that we have that's like American Idol for poetry? He needs to stop making stuff up.

I don't know how that Kumail fellow ever managed to make a career in America, but that video is actually pretty funny.

Not exactly American idol type but Tariq Aziz used to host these type of competitions in his shows on PTV back in the days.
Generally, poetry is appreciated a lot in our culture. Backsides of rickshaws and trucks are a testament to that:najam

riz is so cheeky compared to wannabe kumail who lacks depth, riz speaks his mind not trying to please *****.
Man could rap, act and who knows what else he got up his sleeves. " The night of " was a dope serious, top notch stuff by him and hbo.

Two totally different actors with different backgrounds. Kumail is a very funny guy with a very different background of doing everything opposite of what was expected of him and I bet he can act circles around Riz who just seems to his confused self in almost everything Ive seen him in.

Apparently I'm the only guy on PP who hasn't seen "The night of"

A very very poor man version of True Detective (at least what they hailed it as) and an OKish version of Law and Order (not the original series, more like the latter crap). The first episode really hit the ground running but it's all downhill after that, plus they had to cast the anti masculine Riz Ahmed in that, just saw the trailer of Venom where he's supposed to be the "bad guy" and all I can say is that Allah hi raham karay, my sister's cat even scared me more.

his performance in sound of metal was really good, carried a film which otherwise seemed a bit disjointed to me.

hes also a really good ambassador for british pakistanis, talks sense and comes across as having some depth to his thought.

He's probably the only British Pakistani with worldwide (America) recognition. Probably more well known than Amir Khan.

Pakistanis, British or otherwise seem to punch way above their weight in America. Despite the success we keep hearing about the American Indian community, it's been Pakistanis who have smashed through the desi barrier with two upcoming superhero roles in Hollywood.

Don't know this guy, know Kunail from Silicon Valley. Kunail was the lamest and cringiest guy there, I found the asian dude more funny. There are a couple of subcontinental actors which I liked, Kap Penn from Harold and Kumar also that guy from Heroes, he did a decent job in the first season. Also, that other Indan actor from Lost was good.
