I dont see why people think throwing the ball in the air and jumping back over the ropes is a difficult skill?

I think ex cricketers who used to play when fences were the norm see this is a new skill and get overwhelmed by it.

It's not really thought of as a difficult skill nowadays I guess, such catches are quite common. I guess the one-handed take and then subsequent presence of mind in that situation is still laudable. Afridi isn't always known for his composure.

Fair point. I guess the difficulty is knowing where the rope is and keeping your balance.

Such cases have indeed become a norm over the last two to three years, but forget not three things: Afridi´s age (from what I remember, most of such catches on the boundary have been taken my young fielders like Steve Smith, Guptill, Pollard etc.), the fact that is a Pakistani fielder, and of course the full stretch of his body when he stops it inside the fence - possibly the hardest part of his catch. Marvelous!
