Should Australia have recalled Kane Williamson?

Non striker's mistake. Kane williamson avoided young and bumped into static Cummins. Not the fault of Cummins.

striker and non striker are supposed to to run in either direction along the pitch but not in one direction. It's the common sense.if this reprival is granted, batsmen will be asked to leave for dropped catches as a moral obligation.

When have Australia ever recalled anyone? Lol

But on this occasion no they shouldn’t. This was a shambolic piece of running from NZ. Both batsmen running on the same side of pitch that the bowler’s on is really slack and lazy. Asking for trouble.

Dunno - I feel that when there has been an unfortunate mishap, like if a batter slips etc, teams should be a little lenient.

It is the fault of the New Zealand batsman. Unfortunate though, because Kane is the sort of batsman that can stop a collapse as others bat around him and eek out partnerships, so we could be looking at a substantially more competitive match.

Williamson's record against the likes of England, Australia, South Africa, India is very poor, almost shocking for a batsman in the Big 4. So far he was proven to be a Home track, Pakistan and Sri Lanka bully.

even if he did not bump, the direct hit meant he was more likely out.

It was a mix up between Williamson and his batting partner, it is not as if an Australian fielder obstructed him.

What next? Recall a batsman who was clean bowled because he couldn’t see the ball?

Kane's partner was watching the ball instead of looking at Kane. It was all the non-strikers' fault. Nothing controversial here for Aussies to recall him.

No. He shouldn't have been recalled. Aussies didn't do anything wrong. Just two batters collided.

Also, it was a direct-hit. Williamson probably would've been out anyway.

If it was happened against Pakistan then there is a fair chance that they would call him back. Sometimes, Pakistani players are too friendly with their opposing team members for no particular reason.

Yep they messed up and Aussies don't care in such issues. But still even they never mankad like Indians.

Is it Australia’s fault that Young was ball-watching?

If you start recalling batsmen for mistakes made by them or by their batting partners, where do you draw the line?

Sure you can recall the batsman if one of the fielders or the bowler got in the way but recalling in this situation would mean unbelievably ridiculous thing to do.

Is Conway injured which is why Young is playing who's just not working?

This was a horrible mixup and it didn't work out so the Aussies rightly didn't call Willamson back as Young should've looked at him and run rather than look back at the ball and bump into him.

I guess you have not read my post. I said there is nothing controversial about this run-out. It was the fault of both the batters. These was no need to recall him. It was a fair and square run-out.

Does anyone remember Sachin's runout in the Kolkata Test against Pakistan in 1999? Here Kane collided with the batsman on the other end, in Sachin's case he collided with Shoaib Akhtar. Funniest bit is Akhtar was flip flopping in front of the stumps. And the Pakistani captain Wasim Akram immediately started appealing with no second thoughts.
