Note how the Pakistan side lead by Imran Khan just walks away - the message is simply - job done.

Compare and contrast to today's celebrations which appear to be OTT at times.

Not sure which is better!

Sign of the times, we are in the cycle whereby each generation becomes progressively more flamboyant. Maybe that will reverse at some time.

Think the lack of celebration is also reflective of the opponent being considered a minnow, so that it would have been considered bad taste if the team celebrated overtly. I guess a few were also afraid of getting a word or two from Imran as victory would have been the minimum expectation.

I prefer to see the old ways of celebration.

Cricketers can get a bit too cocky these days.

Fifa effect.

Fifa players are big personalities, and i believe cricketers try to emulate them.

Sometimes you couldn't even tell Imran took a wicket given how undemonstrative he was in his celebration.

Now guys like Shaheen or Hasan act as if they've won the Cricket World Cup, FIFA World Cup and Ryder Cup after taking wicket of a #11 batsman.

Back in those days, you didn't need to celebrate. People would flood into the field from the stands after every victory.

That caught and bowled is just unbelievable.

What an athlete he was!

When on the field actions mattered more than social media and off the field stuff.

These days too many cricketers are show-ponies, playing up to the camera.

Generally outlook in life has changed, this is in every field.

I am against the OTT celebrations.
WI of old, used to be menacing yet their celebrations were just some high fives. At best they would pick a memento stump.
Now, we see so many playing to the galleries with sendoffs and snickering. Even the commentators are openly biased and join in. The media was always going to be celebrating OTT to be popular.
