In any high-performance team, the presence of a toxic high performer can be a double-edged sword. Sure, they might win you a game or two, but can they help you win the bigger prize? If their attitude or behavior starts to affect the team's dynamics, the cost of holding on to them can outweigh the benefits. As a leader, the decision to either ring-fence them or cut them loose is crucial.

The challenge lies in finding the right balance—can you manage their influence, or does the risk to team culture outweigh their individual brilliance? Have you ever dealt with this situation in your own teams? How do you handle players whose talent is undeniable, but their behavior threatens the collective?

Let’s talk leadership, team culture, and the tough choices that come with managing high performers who are a little too high maintenance.
