[VIDEO] Video emerges of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan beating his staff member for allegedly misplacing alcohol - Rahat clarifies, says it was holy water

and once again, religion is used in Pakistan as a cover to save oneself.............

Rahat is an absolute disgrace to the legacy of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. His uncle was one of the most gentle and sweet souls in the world of stardom. Everything Rahat has (besides his gifted voice) is due to the success achieved by his uncle. It is a shame to see this man tarnish that legacy with his drunken outbursts

In a lawless society created by NS and the Establishment, where women, children and party workers are attacked in their own homes and outside,I don't see why Rahat can't do what he wants. Afterall might is right and this is just part of the overall destruction of an already weak law and order.

Rahat kind of reminds me of Danny Devito.

Would’ve been funny if the guy getting beaten up was allowed to retaliate.

He can do anything in a country like Pakistan because he knows he is famous and can approach top generals, lawmakers, or judges to have his crimes cleared within minutes. Additionally, he lives in a country where one can commit any imaginable sin and conceal it behind a religious facade.

He will participate in a Ramadan transmission, where he will sing a naat, and it is believed by some that this act will absolve him of all his sins

Lets replace him with Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, at least he is morally upright and funny.

His uncle probably hit the bottle as well if we are being truthful. Many performers in Pakistan are big drinkers.

This type of "teaching" is quite common in Pakistan. Yes its jarring when you see it on camera done by a famous person but how do you think the "apprentice" barbers, masseuse, drivers, labourers, chefs etc are trained ? Especially the child/young adults who have to work in these industries?

This sort of beating seems to be commonplace in the subcontinent, can't imagine it would ever get tolerated over here. If someone tried that he'd get knocked spark out before he landed the second blow.

King Charles' charity disassociates itself from Rahat after violence video

LONDON: British Asian Trust has said it will no longer be associated with Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan after the singer’s video went viral showing him slapping and assaulting a band member.

A spokesman of the anti-violence British Asian Trust which, founded by King Charles III, told Geo News that it decided to cease association with Rahat after reviewing the video.

A spokesman of the Trust told this reporter: “The British Asian Trust has a strict policy towards abusive behaviour and has ceased any association with Mr Khan. We strongly condemn any form of violence whatever the circumstances.”

The Trust issued a statement over the weekend saying: "We take all accusations of abuse seriously and we will look into this urgently."

The footage shows Rahat attacking a band member with slaps, kicks and even his shoes, while the person pleaded with him to stop. The attack happened in Houston, Texas, last year.

Taking the seriousness of the matter into account, Rahat responded to the controversy on Saturday night and issued a clarification that the matter was not the same in reality as apparent in the video.

Meanwhile, the man, who is said to be his student, said that the “bottle” mentioned in the viral video contained the water given by the spiritual leader which he had misplaced.

“He is [like] my father, my teacher. God knows how much he loves us. Whoever has done this, is simply blackmailing my teacher to defame him,” he added.

"The video is an internal matter of a teacher and a student. We do love a student over a good deed, as well as punish him if he commits a mistake," the star singer said in a video statement issued on his official Instagram account.

"I forgot a bottle of water which was given by my pir (spiritual healer). I also apologised to my student at the same time," he said referring to the "student" as Naveed Husnain.

In a separate video, Husnain said that Rahat had apologised to him for whatever happened between them due to which, he was now "embarrassed". He further stated that Rahat is his teacher and "can do whatever he wants" with him.

Rahat has also met King Charles as the trust's ambassador. It was founded by Charles in 2007 to tackle poverty and build community relations.

He is considered the greatest living singer of a genre of music famous in Pakistan called Qawwali, which has its origins in the poetry and music of Islamic mystics, known as Sufis.

King Charles (then Prince Charles) had appointed Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khanas ambassador of the British Asian Trust at the trust's fourth annual dinner at the Guildhall here in February 2017.

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, who is the President of the trust, made the announcement. More than 450 supporters and ambassadors of the organisation, including the Duchess of Cornwall, had attended the event and helped raise £850,000 to support the trust and its projects in South Asia.

The trust runs many projects in South Asian countries. Rahat Fateh Ali performed before the audience and won praise. Other notable Pakistanis currently part of the Trust include prominent industrialists Mian Mansha from Lahore and Lord Zameer Chaudhry from London.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had said: "I am delighted that the Prince of Wales announced that I will be working closely with the British Asian Trust as an ambassador to further support their work in transforming lives across South Asia."

The bloke parades around as some great human being making people happy with his music but this video has exposed him as bully and coward.

What is worse is he tried to justify this as normal and accepted, it might be to some in South Asia but most humans see this as despicable.

I'd think twice if you pay money to watch this idiot perform, he should be boycotted from every area of public life.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan says more secretly recorded videos may emerge in second ‘apology’ video

After severe backlash following a covert video of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan physically abusing someone he later claimed was his student, and a failed apology video that has since been deleted from his Instagram, the qawwal has come forth with another “apology” video.

The singer is alone in the video, which was posted to the account of radio station owner Rehan Siddiq, in contrast to the now deleted ‘apology’ videos where he was accompanied by the victim and his father.

In the “special message”, the ‘Afreen Afreen’ singer first sought forgiveness from God, who “made everyone equal”.

“Being a human, I should not have behaved this way with another person, especially as an artist,” he said.

He then apologised to his family who “have been involved in the qawwali business for 600 years” and gave messages of “love, peace and brotherhood” through their art. Khan also apologised to his “family friends” and “especially” his fans who were hurt because of his behaviour.

Vowing not to repeat his actions, he alleged that the viral video was nine months old and that his old management company — PME Entertainment — which he recently left, had been making these videos without his “permission” for “who knows how long”.

Khan claimed the company had “planned other” videos and began releasing them after his press conference announcing that he would be parting ways with them.

“If they were such advocates of humanity, why didn’t they release the video earlier?” he questioned. He alleged that there were more videos that the company would release in an effort to “defame” him, and that some were “planted” while others were “fabricated”. Khan, however, hoped that their “efforts would be unsuccessful” and his singing career would continue.

The singer continued that he took the experience “positively” because he got to learn from it, and added that he “respected” those who boycotted him because they wanted to “advise” him. He further said that those critiquing his actions “loved” him and did not want to see “their artist” behaving negatively.

He concluded the video by apologising to his fellow artists and music directors. He did not, however, apologise to his victim, Naveed Hasnain, the student whom he physically lashed out at for misplacing a ‘bottle’.

Khan also appeared on Adeel Asif’s podcast where he purported that people were making fun of the ‘bottle’, however, it was “true” that his pir (spiritual guide) had blessed the water and it was in Hasnain’s possession.

“People are not understanding the depth [of the situation]. It’s a spiritual matter between me and my pir and it was a very big thing for me,” he said.

The podcast also included gems from the host such as him saying it would be an “honour” to be hit by Khan, and that people should not interfere in artists’ personal lives and let them hone their crafts.

Let’s be real — physical violence, regardless of who it’s coming from, is NEVER something to look up to and glorify. No one deserves to be humiliated the way Hasnain was; there is a proper way to handle such a situation and even severe consequences for someone’s actions should not include beating someone up. Secondly, anyone who infringes on someone else’s physical autonomy, especially so violently, should face some repercussions, regardless of who they are.

The host should not have placed Khan on a pedestal given the controversy surrounding him, nor should he have been so casual with his comments.

Prior to his recent apology video, a series of videos were posted and then deleted from Khan’s official Instagram page in which he claimed the bottle contained blessed water.

Addressing the video, Khan said it was a private issue between a teacher and a student. Identifying the student and his father, he said, “The relationship between a teacher and student is such that when he does well, we give him that much love and when he does wrong, we punish him”.

Hasnain said the bottle contained water blessed by a spiritual leader and that he had forgotten where he put it at the time. “God only knows how much love he [Khan] shows us,” he said, calling the video an attempt to blackmail and defame his teacher.

He denied that the incident was an incident of abuse. Khan claimed that he asked for Hasnain’s forgiveness then and there after beating him up.

Once again, he did not once publicly apologise to Hasnain but has released several irrelevant, half-hearted videos.

I doubt his uncle would beat people up under the influence

Nusrat no matter how famous he was, was always a humble and down to earth person.

People often viewed him as a shareef person, due to the personality he has made over the years so seeing those videos has destroyed his image.

The alcohol drinking can be ignored, but the problem is him beating his staff and than justifying it... He continues to justify it.

This will hit him hard now and he deserves it

Nusrat was just a legendary singer, that is how he should be viewed above all else. He even had a hardcore European fanbase, his soundtracks featured on the blockbuster movie Natural Born Killers.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has started a money-laundering and tax evasion inquiry into singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan after it was revealed that the musician made nearly eight billion Rupees in 12 years for local and international concerts.

The decision of Pakistani tax authorities comes as the global star grapples with the scandal of violent behaviour following the emergence of a sensation video which shows him repeatedly beating one of his band members over a missing bottle of liquor. The beating video has shocked tens of millions of people around the world.

According to reports, FIA has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to hand over full record of Rahat’s assets and income tax. This isn’t for the first time that the singer has run into troubles with the FIA and the FBR but the nature of allegations is quite serious.

The FIA acted after Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s former global promoter Salman Ahmed revealed that the singer had made around eight billion Rupees in 12 years with him.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz from President Asif Ali Zardari. Did he deserve it after the incident of beating his staff members?

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan briefly arrested, later released on bail in Dubai

Famous Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been released on bail following his detention by the local police on a complaint of criminal defamation filed by his former manager Salman Ahmad.

Rahat issued a video statement after Geo News aired the news of his arrest. He asked his followers “not to pay attention” to rumours but didn’t deny that he was detained and questioned by the police at the Bur Police station.

Evidence shows that the Dubai police formally registered the case for action against the singer on 13 July this year, after Salman’s lawyers advanced it to the police.

Sources confirmed the singer was arrested in Dubai after he arrived from Lahore for a musical collaboration. The singer was detained at the immigration centre and taken into police custody for questioning. He was released after submitting his statement before the police. Rahat and Salman have filed several cases against each other.

Rahat’s local manager and promoter in Dubai hired lawyers after his detention and secured his bail. Rahat is accompanied in Dubai by his brother-in-law Bakka Burki.

He has filed cases against Salman in Pakistan and Salman has filed cases against Rahat in Dubai and USA, alleging criminal defamation and contractual violations. Rahat has denied all allegations against him.

The singer released a video on his Instagram handle, asking people not to believe in reports of his arrest. "I came to Dubai to record a song. Some malicious reports are circulating about my arrest. Please do not believe them."
