Never seen this much swing from any Pakistani bowler in last few bowlers...

Protip: Lock the wrist and flick it for the swing

A fish never forgets how to swim ;)

I have watched him bowl in all-stars T20 match in Houston and he was still swinging the ball and had an effective yorker.

Are you talking about Wasim or Malik?

why-not-both-animated-gif-7.gif

Wasim Akram even at this age will singlehandedly rip through our batting order.

The amount of swing he’s getting, he could run through any batting order in the world atm.

He could actually be recalled to the national team and be our best bowler.

Whenever Wasim Akram bowls, it swings when other bowls there is always a problem with the ball

Reminded me of the NZ tour. Yeh toh zakhmo pai namak chiraknay wali baat ho gayee.

Akram in full flight is such a lovely sight to watch. Dravid once said "it is a privilege to get dismissed by Akram" after the famous chennai test dismissal of his where Akram beat the teeny tiny gap that Dravid offered.

You just can't teach that skill, you can get close but it is not the same as the real thing. What a legend.

He swung it more on that delivery vs. Imran Nazir than all of the current bowlers combined. :))

Legend.

Shoaib Malik went chasing after that wide ball. Even umpire gave it a wide ball but Malik walked. Clearly shows he just wanted to pay respect to Wasim.

They don't produce them again. Most gifted fast bowler we ever produced.

Fantastic bowler and he is still got it. Might lack in pace and fitness but the skill is still there.

Wasim was toying with Malik and Imran Nasir trundling at 110k’s.

Imagine what a prime Wasim would do to them when he was getting the same swing at 145k’s.

Have to wonder how the likes of Dravid, Sachin and Laxman we’re dealing with this unplayable stuff back in 1998.

Malik wasn't serious while batting.

No that's not the case, malik can't back himself against real bowlers. Malik can act non serious, but Wasim even now trying hard will still trouble malik trying his best

Wasim schooled Dravid and Laxman in 1999.

Watch the highlights of the full match.... the other bowlers were bowling dead straight and Waz was swinging it miles. That is called talent.

I have watched wasim akram bowl in KKR nets. He makes fools out of better batsmen than Malik and Nazir combined.

Wasim is god gifted. What he does cannot be taught, its in born.

Anyone who says Amir is as good as Wasim needs to see a psychiatrist.

Anyone who thinks a 50 year old trundling at 110 km is better than the best Pakistan bowlers now has issues.

No one respects Wasim more than I do, but you don't need to pretend he's actually good enough at 50 years old. No one is.

Agreed but just look at his skills. The first delivery he bowled to Imran Nazir he brought it in big time. Not many left armers could do that at will. Zaheer, Johnson and Aamir did that a bit in their prime

If I am not mistaken even Gautham Ghambir said that he asked Wasim Akram to play as a bowler from KKR team..

Totally agree. Even Malik departed himself. Wasn't really out.

Apparently it was a wide and umpire changed his decision

Obviously everyone is exaggerating.

But there's no doubt the man has greater control over swing than most of PAK's current bowlers.

Tell Wahab to run in and swing it in at 110 KPH and he'll get zero movement on the same pitch.

Is it the grip or general physique of Akram which is enabling him to get this much swing??

As Wasim says, "lock your wrist and flick it." :yk

He's never been able to properly pass on the message to younger bowlers but he certainly understands it himself.

Add in the fluid action and he gets it to swing.

I can only imagine how frustrating it is for him to watch the younger generation of bowlers. The man makes it look as easy as taking a walk in the park.

There can be few possibilities :

1) its purely down to natural ability that he is able to do it and he cant teach it.

2) its purely natural ability and He can teach it. However Pakistani bowlers dont understand what he says due to being illiterates. This brings us to another question.

3) its purely natural ability and he can teach it but he doesnt want to teach it :yk because if it was inability of Pakistani bowlers to Learn, why didnt he pass on his skills to Indians in KKR (IPL)? Indian bowlers are generally well educated.

Only one thing remains constant - it is purely natural ability.

He was taking care of business in 1998..But we didn't really used to play much against each other..in 1999 and in the 2000's they were sent to the pavilion.
Sachin played him ok a few times and so did dravid..but in general he was pretty devastating..

heres an interesting vid from 2000:

both wiqi and wasim were getting on a bit though..

The ball to nazir was very good.

Pakistan need a bowling coach like him instead of mahmood.

The guy was an absolute legend and tremendous bowler.

I feel sorry for the guys who only saw Wasim at the tail end ofhis career when he was past his best.

He was a magician with the ball and could make the ball talk.

Is there any bowler in ths world today who can swing the ball like even a 50yr old Wasim Akram? Without clouds that is.

In their dreams.

Some current international bowlers couldn't bowl like 50 year old Wasim Akram.

Can't agree with you more Saj. Lucky to see the legend in his prime. Undoubtedly the greatest left arm fast bowler ever and arguably the greatest sportsman produced by the country. My only regret is Akram not lifting the 99 WC. That was the greatest odi team Pakistan has ever had.
