[VIDEO] What's the problem with Haris Sohail?

Should Haris Sohail be picked for the 1st Test against Australia?

Owes Pakistan a big hundred in the second innings of this Test.

Coming to the point where he needs to be dropped for a while, his technics so poor that he wont score runs outside of asia like i mentioned before.

Should be dropped. Needs to go to the domestics and learn how to leave the ball.

I don’t understand the expectations from him when he’s hardly played tests outside Asia.
Posters here seem to have watched a lot of cricket but can’t figure out he has a very poor technique

2 identical dismissals - seems like a pattern to me.

Some guys just dont listen.
Some guys are lazy.
Some guys never learn from their mistakes.
Its usually the most talented guys in pakistan - haris sohail, umar akmal etc.

Thats why babar is so refreshing, cos he works hard and learns from his mistakes.

Imam is not a player i like, should never play any white ball cricket, but i would replace haris with imam at 3.
Imam is a sitting duck for bouncers, thats why i would not open with him but with shaan and babar and hope they can see off the new hard bouncey ball.

.

Sohail should take up fishing instead of cricket.

Poor footwork. Head nowhere near the line of the ball. Playing shots to balls he didn't need to.

Basics all wrong.

add to that his batting position
should've swapped place with babar azam..
misbah is always too stubborn he will never change or take other views into consideration he is hell bent on destroying well gell team into gutter..
im not saying pak wouldve done well under mickey but he build a well gelled unit who seems like played like a team as a unit ..
but this team looks all over the place .. nothing to watch out for... except individuals like babar & naseem but as a team Misbah's team is nothing but TORTUROUS to Watch.

All thanks to mr.nice english

Haris problem is like that of all our players. Unwilling to change their game despite eveidence to contrary and let’s face it why would they. We’ve played just two tests this year and next year is mostly at home. Some truly terrible mindsets we have produced over the last 25 years or so.

Mickey Arthur "'I'd play Haris at 6, he was found out a bit by the short ball but I've seen what he can do at this level. Adelaide won't bounce like the Gabba, it'll be more subcontinental. He can give you a lot of overs"

Makes sense. Ifti out and imam in.
If haris finds his touch, how good does that make the batting look!!

Feel bad for him but he really needs to work on his game.

It's going pear-shaped for the man who was until recently one of the golden boys of Pakistan cricket.

So Fawad Alam replaces Haris Sohail in the final XI for the 1st Test?

He needs to do really well if he is to keep Fawad Alam out of the team (in his place)

Seems extra curricular activity is costing his international career .He is given fair opportunity time to move on and invest in other batsmen

He's never been that hardworking player everyone wants him to be, we should move on and invest in someone younger.

And his fitness is a different story altogether

There’s a bit of a clue: he’s coming up to his 31st birthday and is still not even up to 800 Test runs in his life.

He’s just not very good.

Shoukd have gambled with fawad in this test , he has played on this pitch more than anyone else. Some strange decisions by the management.

Starting to regress as a player who was average at best anyways.

His problem is that he looks like a pehelwan when infact he's supposed to be a cricketer. Needs to lose that belly. Thank god the Indian team doesn't put up with players who look like that.

A lot of idiots in here. One of the best batsmen in the team. He was in crazy good form through the summer this year. Minute he is out of form people say he should be dropped. Just silly. Stick with him and he will come good.

Another player overhyped like Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Akmal and the likes. Never looked good. Was somehow still making decent runs here and there but was always going to be found out. Look at those similar dismissals over two innings - such a poor technique.

Him and Shan are heading to the last chance saloon tomorrow
( inshaAllah after lunch for Shan and day 3 for haris

Another player who has completely lost it, after promising a lot. Haris was sublime before the Australian tour, and now he finds himself completely bombing.

This is a disease afflicting our players and needs addressing straightaway.

Nothing shot.

Played down the wrong line. Lazy batting.

Out of form batsmen still manage to score in the double digits every 5th game or so, Haris can't even do the basics.

Misbah is what's wrong with him. The clown and fraud isn't capable of helping batsmen make game to game adjustments. Haris was starting to come into his own under Mickey and Grant. I told you guys, you were gonna regret losing Mickey. We will not get a better coach than him.

when your lips look like you haven't missed a cigarette in the last hour and your body shape is that of a potato - you end up unfit, lazy and also shows your worth ethic and mindset. I will disagree with some posters because Haris has a natural batting talent, he has great hand eye coordination that compensates for his average technique. His issue is his worth ethic -> laziness -> being unfit.

PCB succumbed to the local player mafia that were at Mickey's throat from day one.

However Haris also needs to improve his work ethic. Even Grant Flower mentioned Haris wasn't a keen trainer.

I'm with you here. 2nd best test bat after Babar since start of 2018
Still deserves a rocket now and again for being lazy

Yeah, unfortunately. Idiots have already seen how this story of a local coach goes, especially someone as unqualified as Misbah.

Every player has to train regardless when they're with the team. Some players work obsessively in the nets, some just need to hit a few balls and see if their technique is in tune. AB and Steve Smith are examples. Haris is a natural timer of the ball, he needs minor technical adjustments, not the crap Misbah is feeding him and moving him down to 6.

Another player that will get a free ride for years because he was hand picked by Misbah and Waqar. The same two guys who repeatedly backed legends Shehzad and Akmal for the last decade. All Harris Sohail’s fans have to say is....But but but remember his cover drive in the World Cup? It was beautiful.

What a disappointment Harris Sohail has been. Should been our 2nd best batman after Babar but has been awful in the Australian tour and this series. I didn't expect him to play this series after his dreadful tour of Australia. Fawad Alam should have played. And Harris Sohail who is out of sorts needs to play some domestic games and get some coaching to get his confidence up.

it's just me or do you guys feel same he seems to be terribly out of place not sure about form he can still time well but looks not involved at all in the field in celebration just simply pathetic attitude dropping catches & these kind of attitude can effect team moral .
i feel he is going through something mentally like most players coming out now in aussie,PCB should have a talk with him or must keep a psychiatrist with this team.
have your say

He’s a lazy individual and a classic “kaam chor” when it comes to training. Why have a guy in the team that isn’t enthused and doesn’t put the work in.

Forget his batting for a moment, he's shown Yasir how to take a wicket as a spinner

He has a laziness about him which is not very good to see. He has not achieved much in international cricket to have this laziness about him. He seems a better player when he has focus and a point to prove.

Ideally he should have been our best Test batsman, way better than Babar potentially in the longer format, but may be his mediocre fitness level has hampered his progress.

I really hope he sticks around and gets back into form, especially in ODIs, where he’s needed.

However he’s fast becoming another wasted talent like Umar Akmal, Raza Hassan etc. Players who looked world class years ago but have regressed for various reasons instead of improving.

That’s actually why I started to like Shan Masood (current form notwithstanding). He was a thoroughly average club level batsman when he first played for Pakistan. However by the time he played in the South Africa tour, he looked our joint most comfortable batsmen in tough conditions. He hasn’t kicked on since then and might be dropped anyway, but it goes to show how far hard work and decent temperament can take you.

If you combine some of the natural ‘talent’ with an out of this world work ethic, that’s when you get players the caliber of Kohli and Smith.

it's more of a confidence issue. unbelievable how this guy who was the only one to give us any hope in the world cup and scored runs against Aus in tests before wc looks like lost soul ever since Misbah took over. It's evidence of Misbah's pathetic man management. Gives zero confidence to players like Harris. This is what he done with UA. Misbah believes if someone can't make him happy then he has to be axed. Unfortunately the axe is falling on Harris soon. Sad state of affairs if player of his calibre has threat of getting dropped..but not likes of captain and Shafiq and Yasir or Shan.

He has shown his class as a batsman in the tests against Aus, NZ in UAE and in the world cup esp the kind of knock he played against NZ. It's more of a confidence issue. Seems like it's in his mind that if he doesn't score a daddy 100 soon he will be dropped. This is why I hate Misbah who can keep his mediocre buddies forever but if some genuine match winners is not performing for few games then he has his axe ready.

Haris Sohail's birthday bash... (from Imam-ul-Haq's snapchat)

Still a fine fine batsman.

Keep him away from T20 cricket. Only ODI at 4 and test number 5.

Problem with Haris Sohail is clearly visible, he has gained weight, doesnt want to improve fitness. He was a very correct batsman technicwise with all shots in his bag but now he cant push for singles doubles. Still if he can go back to NCA domestic and improve his fitness standard a bit higher, he can be a handy middle order batsman because he has skills :)

Not included in the T20I series vs Bangladesh - can he comeback into this format again for Pakistan?

Has done more as a bowler in recent times than as a batsman (which is his primary role)

Did he deserve a call-up for the 1st Test vs Bangladesh?

No, he's in woeful form. It's a shame our home test schedule doesn't match up with the QEA trophy schedule, otherwise struggling players could be sent back to domestic cricket to try and find form. On the other hand, in form players could more easily be selected.

Drops a catch off the bowling of Yasir Shah!

Lets see if he can bowl and bat to show why he is preferred against Fawad Alam.

Terrible in the field. His bowling bails him out. He’s a better bowler than a batter or fielder.

Not sure why Asad or Babar weren’t in gully.

Struggled early on during his innings today against BD but looking in good touch after settling down, albeit against some fairly ordinary bowling.

Classy player. Would not mind him moving up to #4 because he looked frustrated batting with the tail.

Babar is perfect for no 4 in my opinion. Haris can go to no 5 but Shafiq has done decently in last couple of matches but thats the only swap I can think of.

It's amazing people still doubt his ability as a batsman. He is a good bat and he has shown his quality esp against likes of Aus in UAE and the world cup. He has fitness issues. Other than that he should be given confidence and not given impression of axing him after a failure.

Is it time pakistan gave up on Haris sohail.

Is it still worth to keep persisting with a lazy, lethargic and mostly mediocre player barring 1 or 2 good innings. Every time i see him bat he shows no foot movement at all and has failed on all away tours he has been on. Even then he shows no sign of improvement or the will to improve. Some poster might claim that he is the best we have got but isnt it better to try someone much younger in the middle order so that he could develop instead of haris.
