Some comments by a few in our forum saying he is ordinary but let me tell you there is something in the guy if he can bowl like that.

Pakistan really missed a swing bowler on the tour to New Zealand.

With this aproach of including young bowlers they can cover up for that missed spot.

No, he does not have "pace." He's 135ks at best.

Bowling with a Dukes ball in overcast. He's a thinking bowler like Abbas. Has skill to move the ball around in the right conditions. But he's not what we need to complete our attack. A right-arm hit the deck bowler with pace is what we need.

Might be a little hard for him to get a place in the team which has far superior bowlers. I have seen Mir Hamza getting whacked around in domestics and in the PSL so I am not sure what he will add here unless there has been some kind of drastic improvement.

So far I have only seen this one delivery which is in the OP where he looks like a very good bowler and perhaps he is only suited to such conditions. Don't see him being an answer to our pace attack if most of our games are played in UAE. He will be extremely ineffective there.

Obviously I'm relying on video footage for this opinion but from what I've seen of Hamza he seems like a test match bowler who needs good swinging conditions to do well.

Two things immediately go against him:

1. Pakistan hardly plays any tests
2. Most of our tests are on the dead pitches of UAE

I'd be happy if Hamza proves me wrong.

Pakistani fans: complain when the same TTFs are selected, yet also complain when new players are picked.

Look, he probably isn't best suited to the pitches in the UAE but even still how about we wait for him to debut (assuming he even does) before rushing to write him off?

Would you play him in England next year ?

He won't shine in the UAE but in favourable conditions he can shine no doubt.

I suppose this is a call up for the pink ball test where some movement would be expected, but the three pacer strategy on the last pink ball test in Dubai was a disaster.

Hopefully they prep him for the England tour where he can actually be useful.

Don't see him doing much in the UAE. We have Abbas as the option to keep things tight and bowl a tight line. We should be trying to find a right arm seamer who can bowl at decent pace. We need to have different type of seamers for UAE conditions.

Would think he may have a chance to ouster Wahab and get a chance vs Australia in the 2ND Test.

Test matches are different to limited overs cricket, medium pacers aren't attacked as much which might give him the chance to show his variety more. I don't think he will do much to be honest, but probably worth a go. If he has some sort of control over line and length, that already makes him more effective than Wahab.

278 first-class wickets at an average of 17.74 is just insane.

Hope he gets a chance.

Me too. He should've already been given a go long time.

That FC average is better than Abbas and even Sadaf. He's not going to be the fastest bowler but pace is extremely overrated in Tests anyways. Consistent line/length and swing is what gets you wickets in Tests.

Do you think he can be as good as Abbas as we have seen both have same fc average and slows as well.

He's a thinking bowler like Abbas, but from what I have seen he gets more (conventional) swing than Abbas.

Picking him in the XI tomorrow makes sense (based on the squad) but my worry long term is his selection might make the bowling attack a little one-paced.

Completely horrible analysis. He has decent pace too.

Definitely not ordinary by any means. I expect him to do well in this game even though the conditions aren't ideal for his style of bowling.

I just wonder what sort of damage it does to the confidence of a guy to be dropped after 1 Test and then totally ignored for the next couple of series.

He wasn't great in that 1 Test match, but I feel he's been treated harshly.

He isn’t good enough for the international level. So it’s good news for Pakistan cricket that his been dropped.
