I don't watch the CPL but i'm quite impressed by this guy. He's not very young (almost 28) but he has a beautiful classical arm ball that actually swings in the air and gets the odd one to turn. Thoughts?

Decent but, for any bowler especially spinners you have to consider the initial novelty factor which sometimes helps them as well to leave good initial impression. Will have to see more of him in the coming months or next year or so when teams are more aware of his strengths and weaknesses as that is when the real class is tested.

Theres nothing novel about him to work out. Hes just a left arm spinner with a good arm ball.

Hosein performed well in the domestic Super50 and did okay in Bangladesh when WI took a second string team.

Problem is many of these WI spinners are straight up darters. I haven't seen offie Kevin Sinclair spin one ball away from the left hander in international cricket. So against better players of spin they could be exposed. Nevertheless he's earned a run.

Surprised to see that this guy is not in the team. Do Cricket West Indies rate Sinclair and Fabian Allen higher as bowlers? I hope not.

Like the look of him - seems to be slowing Pakistan down in the 2nd T20I

First time watching him - seems like a real talent. He would very successful in Test cricket as well.

Good showing with the ball and took a stunner of a catch. The only positive for Windies in this shambolic performance

Was shocked to find that he was not selected in the original wtc squad.

West indies are clueless about selection
With gayle and ravi rampaul etc being recalled.

Pathetic

Very impressive today and made a mockery of the decision not to pick him in the original squad.

Great catch too.

Becoming a force in international cricket with such good performances

1/16 in 4 overs versus Pakistan

Impressive work by him in the first ODI versus Pakistan

Very impressive outing from Akeal again today, looks like he has the right skills and getting some assistance from the pitch today.

If they had another spinner of his class, they can dominate the middle overs phase. Walsh getting smashed today but this guy continues to impress .

Fantastic innings of 60 (37), single-handedly kept his side in the game.

WI have depth in batting, lot of such kind of players, what WI need is stable batsmen at 3 , 4 , 5 .

He is a wonderful talent with a bright future in all 3 formats.

Has leapfrogged ahead of Walsh and Allen as the first choice spinner within a few months.

Latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings:

Akeal Hosein has surged 10 places and into the top 10 of the T20I bowling rankings after his economical efforts against Bangladesh ended with figures of 22/1 and 27/1.

Once again the pick of the WI bowlers in a rare win against a a top 6 side for the West Indies. Would have had 4 had Bavuma not been dropped in his last over.

Windies have only had 4 wins against top 6 sides since 2019 World Cup. He played in 3 of those and was the best WI bowler in all 3.

Did not perform well for Multan Sultans. Seems to be doing well elsewhere

Didn't play a lot, did he? Also it would have been difficult to play him alongside Usama Mir. Pitches also were unforgiving for finger spinners I think . Wristies did relatively better.

2/17 in 4 overs for Akeal Hosein! An extraordinary spell by him for Quetta Gladiators against Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9. He caught the big wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique.

Really good spin bowler this lad. Love his arm ball, but unlike Imad, he does actually turn the offspinner as well.

An expensive start for Akeal Hosein against Islamabad United in PSL 9 but the wicket of Alex Hales would be a reprieve for him. His bowling figures 1/23 in 2 overs so far.

Shan Masood back into the Pavilion after facing just three deliveries against the Quetta Gladiators. Akeal Hosein, the magician who bowled him out. His figures today 2/34 in 4 overs.

Wow, a hattrick for Akeal Hosein today against PZ. He ends his wonder spell with great figures of 4/23 in four overs.

His skill and guile are a lot better than his numbers in international cricket. He is really good but considering that he is around 30, he could be entering his peak years now.

Akeal Hosein ends up with a decent spell of 2/34 in 4 overs against IU in Eliminator 1 of PSL 9.

After a good bowling performance, Akeal plays a great cameo with the bat 31(18) for QG against IU.

He's both the best bowler and batter for QG now? What are the rest even doing ?

Where is Sherfane ?

Akeal Hosein has signed up for the PSL 2025 Draft
