He hasnt played enough tests to judge him on that format, but in t20's and ODI's (played 14 of the former and 13 of the latter) his bowling averages are 45 and 55 respectively, with pretty expensive economy rates.

His batting is also pretty poor, he averages 14 in t20's and 13 in ODI's.

Point is, on the back of that incredible knock vs England in the World t20 he seems to have earned superstar status at least in t20's, easily bagging deals in t20 leagues around the world as a result, yet his actual performances in limited overs cricket havent been that good.

I mean he's been announced t20 captain of the WI when he's averaging 14 with bat and 55 with ball at an ER above 9.

Is he really as good as he looked in the world cup final or is he just a one innings wonder

cue him scoring a 100 today

That one over was big.

Calm down, he's young and learning, will come good.

Even if he does turn out to be a one innings wonder. It was one hell of an innings. Something we'll never forget.

WICB specialize in killing careers. Should have never been giving the captaincy, let alone a captaincy at the same moment coaches were fired.

He's a mediocre cricketer just like most Windies cricketers are these days. Might win another World T20 and smash bowlers in t20 leagues but will exposed in longer formats.

I was wondering about this today while watching his bowling. He doesn't have any other performance of note aside from that over.

Carlos Brathwaite is just a poor man's Sammy.

Just got lucky and it was his day in that final.

He was capable of bowling fast medium with the ability of hitting 87,88 mph.

He has been ill advised and has needlessly shortened his runup to curb the Noballs.

Its a nothing runup now. Too Short and he gets no mememtum when he reaches the delivery stride. He has lost 7-10 kph.

Needs to go back to long runup if he wants to be a quality fast medium allrounder.

Dunno. Had high hopes for him after WT20 final.

But seems like he will just be remembered for that performance only.

A typical WI t20 player Slogs a few and then gets out

He is a natural athlete who chose to pursue a career in cricket. Couldn't believe he was auctioned for Half a Million at IPL lol.

Surprised he’s made the WC squad - his odi record is terrible. For me Pollard>>>Brathwaite.

Doesn't matter what happens in his career, he'll always have that WT20 final. Few cricketers enjoy such an iconic moment to their name.

WOW.

It's great that Ian Bishop is the commentator AGAIN! :)))

No, it's stupidity. It was there to create a chance. And he foolishly did.

It was 5 reqd off 6. Singles doubles occasion for a win.

6 were needed when he hit that shot. He tries but it was an amazing catch too tbh

Stupidity in the end.

Just goes to show that even with 19,298 posts you can have no clue what you're talking about.

He had a choice. It was 99% going to be short so he could try and hit a difficult single and who knows if he could even get it away for 1.

OR

Try and hit the short ball and win the game. He was striking the ball so well so I'd say he went with the right option. It just wasn't hit as cleanly as he would have liked AND 7/10 fielders would have dropped the catch, palmed it over or touched the boundary. It was a bit unlucky for him that the fielder did an outstanding job to not only catch it but to stop himself from going over.

Was just getting the thread ready for a GOAT World Cup knock but a couple of metres was the difference between what will now be remembered as just one of many hundreds...

It's no stupidity as he's also playing with a number 11 and the shot was on the way he was striking it. Really feel for the lad. Sir brathwaite

Gotta feel for him. I do & will always remember the name Carlos Brathwaite.

Finally showed his true capabilities. He's not a hack by any means. His hitting is based on calculated shots.

What?!??!

I checked the match I thought WI were done with Roach batting.

Stupid thread anyway. I always back young players.

Brathwaite is a great hitter of the cricket ball.

Some people should get their humble pie now.

Epic knock. He played out the best bowlers and cashed in on Henry. It was a great catch by Boult to win the match for NZ. Windies had the wrong approach. They just needed to be patient and take the game deep, but they through their wickets away as usual.

If Carlos could have pulled it off it would have been rated higher than all of Lance Klusener's knocks

Funny that Pandya is rated so highly while everyone looks down on Brathwaite. I would say their bowling is similar while those two innings of Brathwaite's beat anything Pandya has ever produced for India with the bat.

He was never going to become a great anyway. But that one inning is one of the most unbelievable ones.

What's the playing status of Carlos Brathwaite these days ? I see he last played in July in T20 Blast. I believe that he didn't play CPL to participate in The Hundred. But he didn't feature in any of them. Is he injured ? Does anybody know ?

he won his team an ICC tournament, thats what matters

Fraud cricketer. Winning a T20 tournament didn't stopped people from calling them minnows. :inti

Carlos Brathwaite registers a bowling figure of 1/36 in his four overs today for Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans.

Yeah. If ever you want to fluke an ATG level performance. The best time for it would be in a World Cup FInal.

The odds of that happening would be mind boggling.
