What a gifted player!! A quick eye and very fast hands through the line of the ball . If Mickey can guide him like he guided Babar, where do Ppers think he can reach?

Top talent.

SL have actually played good quality cricket in this tournament, 2 close losses against ENG and SA. Both games could've gone either way in last 3-4 overs. This young squad can learn a lot from this experience

A wonderful talent. Next great Sri Lankan batsman along with Nissanka. Two World class batters found potentially for Lankans and some good bowlers. Sri Lanka about to re-emerge as a world force.

SL haven't been able to develop their batters to become top players in the world since Sanga,Jayawardene and Dilshan's retirements. Mendis and Dickwella are clear examples.

Hopefully he gets better.

Looks amazing when he gets going.

Sri Lanka have wasted far too much time on the likes of Mendis, Dickwella, DDS in the last 5 years.

Time to back the likes of Asalanka, Nissanka, Rajapaksa, Fernando.

Not only are they young but they also seem to have some talent that can be nurtured and developed.

And Asalanka is the best of the lot.

Absolutely treat to watch..
Asalanka is no slogger, plays proper cricket shots..
Srilankan setup needs someone composed batsman like him in the team buildup..
Hopefully he will guided well by coaches 👍🏻👍🏻

Brilliant 110 (106) from him today - big role in the series win.

Future of Sri Lankan batting, this kid. Both him and Nissanka are guys to keep an eye on for the future.

Well played Charith Asalanka. He Scored 79 runs from 65 Balls against South Africa in a Big Ran Chase.

Karlo sky is the limit against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe

Not when it matters against the big boys

Charith Asalanka brings up his 3rd ODI century in style, scoring 101 (95) when it was much needed for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe in the 1st ODI. Charith Asalanka's century leads Sri Lanka to 273/9 in 50 overs.

Charith Asalanka means business.

What a knock and selfless innings

He scored an unbeaten 97 runs off 74 balls against Afghanistan in the 2nd ODI, marking his 11th ODI fifty.

Sri Lanka needs selfless players, and the way he ran a quick single on the penultimate delivery, not overly concerned about personal milestones, was exceptional.

Charith Asalanka is the most selfless player I have observed in recent times. He doesn't care about personal milestones, he just plays for the team.

A night to remember for Charith Asalanka with the ball

Axar Patel - OUT
Shivam Dube - OUT
Arshdeep Singh - OUT

I didn't know he could bowl too. He secured 3/30 in 8.5 overs against India in the 1st ODI.

Captain's knock by Charith Asalanka

He scored 59 in 35 balls including 9 fours, against West Indies in 1st T20

As per reports, Charith Asalanka is likely to be removed from the T20I captaincy, with Dasun Shanaka expected to take over ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

According to reports, Asalanka was among the players advising teammates to withdraw from the ongoing Pakistan tour. When the series continued as planned, he and fast bowler Asitha Fernando returned home citing illness.

SL consider moving on from Asalanka as T20I captain

Sri Lanka Chief Selector Upul Tharanga on Wednesday hinted at the dismissal of Charith Asalanka as their men's team's T20I captain, stating that the former champions will have to explore "best options" after the ongoing tri-series in Pakistan.

Asalanka, who took over the captaincy in July last year, has come under increasing scrutiny for his poor run of form in T20Is, having failed to score a fifty since his 59 against the West Indies in October 2024.

His struggles persisted during the ACC Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025, where he managed only 75 runs in six innings at an average of 15. With his form dipping further, Sri Lanka’s selectors began considering potential changes ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, though chief selector Tharanga remained reluctant to make any drastic decisions.

"We have to weigh our best options after this series," said Tharanga, when asked whether the selectors were considering a change in captaincy.

"With a World Cup so close we can't make a lot of big changes. The selectors, after talking to the coach, will have to make a decision on what's best for the team."

Adding to his troubles, Asalanka fell ill and was ruled out of the ongoing T20I tri-series against hosts Pakistan and Zimbabwe, forcing Sri Lanka to call up former captain and seasoned all-rounder Dasun Shanaka to step in as stand-in leader.

Tharanga clarified that Shanaka had already been named vice-captain for the white-ball tour to Pakistan as part of their broader leadership assessment, but stressed that Asalanka remains their captain for now and no “firm decision” has been taken yet.

"That was to give us another option," Tharanga said on Shanaka's appointment as vice-captain.

"Still Charith is our captain. It's because of an illness to Charith that we appointed Dasun as our stand-in captain. Charith is still the captain in our plans. We haven't made a decision to change that. We've planned all along for Charith to captain this World Cup. We'll see what happens. We haven't made a decision about that yet," he added.

Respect to Sri Lanka

You can’t have a Rizwan type divisive figure in the leadership role.

That was not very good from Charitha to manipulate the players like he did.
