In a way it was a wise move by him to give up Test cricket initially.
He knew that if he had carried on playing Test cricket then his body would have been battered and he would have been finished well before now.
I agree with you, I don't think his body could take it to bowl on dead wickets. We have to be honest with ourselves, 5 years out of the same is a long time. Plus, not everyone enjoys test cricket. I know that I wouldn't. I would also try to maximise by earnings and have adequate rest. Sport people have short careers so they need to plan for the future too.
The issue really is how Amir went about the matter. His constant negative statements, bickering, effort levels and general attitude has made fans less sympathetic and supportive of him. He should have just focused on self development and tried to get back to his old self.
