Mohammad Faizan, born in 1997, is playing in this year's PSL as part of the Lahore Qalandars, and I was interested to see what others thought about him.

I personally think that while he does have the potential to be good, Lahore Qalandars are using him at Number 7, which is not great considering that he used to bat at Number 1 in the PDP, and so I believe that he could make a great replacement for the off form Fakhar Zaman. He is a power hitter that averaged 98 at the PDP with a SR of around 140.

His bowling isn't particularly quick, but from what I have seen, he does have a handy off cutter that has got some players out. It's respectable, but I do think that using him in the death overs is a massive risk, as seen against Islamabad.

Let me know what you guys think about him in this thread.

Many thanks,
Bizenjo.

He needs to bat up the order having him bat at number 7 he wont do much but batting up the order he has more time and can Express him self

LQ should get players from domestc.too much of PDP and no output. He seems to be average bat.

I have seen some videos of him before and I think he bats well but needs to bat up the order for sure about his bowling not too sure maybe can be used as a part timer

Performing in PDP hardly matters.Look at lahore local players sohail akhtar, faizan ,salman irshad, dilbar. they may not make it to any F.C side.
where as islamabd young players akif, zafar, shadab(21), amad, faheem all hv played u-19 cricket and are part of F.C setup.
I cant see qalenders PDP players competing.

He looks average with the bat due to Lahore misusing him. He should be opening instead of batting at 7. He succumbed to pressure in the last game against Islamabad, causing his wicket to fall.

For a part timer, he isn't that bad. While he doesn't have the pace, his off cutter is decent, but still I think he shouldn't be bowling regularly.

I wouldn't have mind him as an opener instead of Salman Butt.

This is correct. Salman Butt really messed Lahore up last game. Played way too timidly and set the standards for the innings. With Zaman being off form, using Faizan as an opener can be a valid option, after all he does seem to be a big hitter, and even sent Zafar Gohar for an 85m six.

I wouldn't say that. Haris Rauf performed in the PDP and got opportunities at Northern, Balochistan and Melbourne Stars.

While Sohail Akhtar is rather old and would therefore experience a lack of opportunities, Dilbar, Faizan and Maaz Khan do have the potential to enter the domestic circuit and beyond. I've always seen Sohail Akhtar as someone who is actually underrated as he did play some good innings, such as his 33 ball 75 against Islamabad in 2019, but as a leader, he fails, using his bowlers incorrectly and Akhtar is unable to set a good field.

Dilbar has bounced back massively after the hammering he got in Melbourne and the first game against Multan. He is one of our 3 main pacers, along with Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi. His control has improved, effortlessly bowls at 140kph and has great bounce.

Faizan should be opening instead of playing in the middle order. As an opener, I've seen his innings, and he genuinely seemed to be in control because he was free to express himself, while batting at 7 against Islamabad caused his wicket to fall as he knew that he had to rush to match the run rate, and so he got bowled. His bowling is decent, he has a nice off cutter, but Sohail Akhtar incorrectly used him at the death. Never use a medium pacer at the 19th over, and overall I believe that he should only be used as a part timer. Being only 22, the only way is up.

Maaz Khan spins the ball a bit and is quite quick, not to mention young as well. He was great in the Abu Dhabi T20s and against the MCC, but this issue this year was that he was playing in a 12 over game, so he was prone to getting blasted. Even then, in the 2 T20s he played before the PSL, Maaz picked up 3 wickets at the economy of just 5.75, and they were full games.

Now with Salman Irshad, he's very wayward when he bowls. While Haris Rauf looks to be in control of his bowling, Irshad does not. Sure, he has a noticeable yorker that is pretty neat when executed properly, but when he bowls regular deliveries, they often go wide, allowing the batsman to hit it for 4. Since Rauf left, Irshad has 5 wickets in 3 games at the hefty ecomony rate of 10.6, which is certainly dangerous from a Qalandar point of view, because they cannot possibly play someone who will most likely go for 40 in 4 overs each game.

Bit of a wild slog when none was needed! Cannot win games when you bat like that.

I think he can become a good batsman he just give his wicket away agaisnt shadab, should play more games and should try to play more responsible

Hanging on for now against PZ but will have to play some shot soon.

Looking good in the National T20 Cup:

6 fours and 4 sixes in Mohammad Faizan's explosive 55 for CP vs Sindh

Also smashed the fastest fifty

Technically inept, but still his shots are amazing. Could replace Asif Ali if willing to play in middle order.

Is Sohail khan still grunting

Mohammad Faizan smoked three sixes and six fours in his breezy 31-ball 52 in the Nat T20 semi final

He doesn't look so bad.

With a bit more experience and help, he can be a real asset.

Good prospect.

Akhlaq is very good, but he doesn’t kick on once he gets himself in with a couple of good shots every time

I think he and Sharjeel should ask their captains to play them at number 5 or 6. There is immense opportunity there as the opening slots are occupied by the captain and WK for the foreseeable future.

Lol

The clock is ticking for Babar and this management. Don’t worry, these boys will play in the position they should play. The cat is out of the bag and justice will arrive

He's not really an all-rounder, his bowling isn't much better than Shan Masood or Umar Amin's per say. Decent powerplay batsman but not the best strike rotator, and that's not going to cut it at the international level, where there's no Mir Hamza or Anwar Ali serving up 8 overs of pies.

He has good power. Reminded me a bit of Asif Ali with a wider shot range and better against spin.

Agree that he should ask to bat at the 5/6 position and play some cameos there. Its the easiest way to get into the international team right now.

Mohammad Faizan scored half-century against Northern at NBP Sports Complex, Karachi

Mohammad Faizan hit 51 off 53 balls for CP against Balochistan

Mohammad Faizan came into the limelight when he made his debut in PSL for Lahore Qalandars in 2020. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic cricket for the last few seasons. Today, he once against showed his batting class while playing for Faisalabad against Bahawalpur in the National T20 Cup 2023-24. He played an impressive innings of 76 runs not out off 55 balls. Following are the highlights of his innings.

You can see the ball so well, but you won’t go the extra yard and look to bosh the ball out of the park.

Pretty shots city

SBP's Mohammad Faizan played exceptionally well, guiding his team to a solid 6-wicket win over Ghani Glass. Faizan made an impressive maiden List A century, scoring 117 runs from just 93 balls. He also chipped in with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs. At 26 years old, he maintains a batting average of 28.20 and a bowling average of 37.69 in List A cricket, still he he has a long way to go in his career.

That's a dream level performance to bat that well and bowl that well.

Hope he gets more chances to showcase his skills and prove if he is legit.

He needs to keep continuing with this start throughout the tournay, Pakistan needs a pace bowling AR.

He is a strictly mediocre player if you have actually saw him bat and bowl , just shows the level of ongoing president cup.

The stats of this tournament shouldn’t be taken any seriously.
If he can continue his form, then why should we ignore him. I will ignore him, if it is once in a blue moon type perfromance, for sure.

This is his performance in his last 10 outings. 3 decent performance in 11 innings pretty much mediocre to me. Seems like a player who will cash on mediocre bowling attacks.

I'd rather have ahmed shehzad open again if it means we're bringing someone like Faizan into the team.

This is the problem qith selectors of pakistan. They can't analyse the technical prowess of cricketers. And look at scorecards instead.

He played just 1 good knock. He has to be consistent if he wants to make his way into the team. Faizan ATM is very far from the national team.

In a just and fair world, Rizwan is very far from even the gully team, but miracles happen in an unjust world such as ours.

Mohammad Faizan excels with the bat on Day 1 of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024's third round, scoring 83 (74) for Faisalabad against Hyderabad
