The district administration used dozens of shipping containers and trucks to block off major roads including entry and exit points in Punjab’s provincial capital to thwart Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan tonight, ARY News reported on Saturday.

According to details, police have placed barricades on major Lahore roads including Ravi Bridge and Thokar Niaz Baig – the two major entry and exit points – leading to Minar-e-Pakistan.

The measures to prevent the political gathering have caused hurdles for commuters, who are heading to their jobs and other routine activities.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday vowed that efforts made to corner the party or mar the PTI’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan today would be foiled by the power of the people.

Talking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore after receiving bail in three cases, the former premier stated that the incumbent government was indulging in cowardly moves by 'arresting 1,600 PTI workers' to disrupt the rally.

His remarks come as the local administration of Lahore placed containers to block the routes leading to Minar-e-Pakistan as the provincial capital braced for the rally.

The administration and police have taken the step to block PTI supporters from other towns and cities in Punjab from reaching the rally venue.

Imran maintained that “one thing was very clear”, that the procession would break all previous records and that “everyone” would go towards the venue.

Addressing his workers, Imran said everyone should reach Minar-e-Pakistan as the PTI would make history today with the strength of its workers and supporters.

The ousted premier also said that today he would give the “roadmap” of how to pull the country from the prevailing imbroglio, adding that people across the country were dying in queues to get flour.

Imran granted bail

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Imran till April 4 in three first information reports (FIRs) filed against him and restrained the police from arresting him.

Imran had moved the court to grant him bail in the FIRs registered at the Race Course Police station under various charges including an alleged attack on police officials, and setting state property ablaze at Zaman Park.

As proceedings commenced, the ATC judge told the petitioner’s counsel to avoid coming to court with large crowds. He warned the lawyer to come with fewer people for the next hearing.

During arguments, Imran’s counsel Barrister Salman Safdar argued that 140 cases had been registered against the former premier out of which 40 FIRs pertained to terrorism charges.

The court summoned the concerned record and directed Imran to join the investigation. The court then granted him pre-arrest bail in three FIRs till April 4.

Meanwhile, the judge also extended the pre-arrest bails of PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Ijaz Chaudhry, Hammad Azhar and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed till April 4. The PTI members had already obtained bail from the court.

The local administration of Lahore on Saturday placed containers to block the routes leading to Minar-e-Pakistan as the provincial capital braced for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled to take place today.

Containers have also been placed in other areas of Lahore, including GT Road, Cup Store and Du Maurya Bridge.

The administration and police have taken the step to block PTI supporters from other towns and cities in Punjab from reaching the rally venue.

The PTI leadership has alleged that the police have detained the party's leaders and workers, saying that raids on the houses of PTI workers and leaders have been ongoing for five consecutive days.

However, they said that despite the "tactics of the police and administration", the rally will definitely take place today.

Crackdown continues

According to police sources, night raids were conducted to arrest PTI central leaders Aamir Kayani, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Raja Basharat, Mian Imran Hayat, Raja Usman and others in Rawalpindi but were not successful.

Sources added that PTI leaders have gone into hiding to avoid arrest. During the police crackdown that has been ongoing for around a week, 33 activists were detained and later released by the courts.

A day earlier, the PTI formed a venue committee in connection with the party’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan today amid the police raids.

According to the notification, PTI leader Shabbir Siyal was appointed as the coordinator, Fawad Rasool Buhlar and Wing Commander Khawaja Kamran deputy coordinators while 10 party workers as members.

Read Court orders release of 15 PTI activists

In a statement, senior PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry slammed the “arrest and abduction” of “about 750 leaders and workers, including Azhar Mashwani and Shahid Hussain”.

The Punjab police continued conducting raids in different areas of the province to arrest the PTI leaders and workers ahead of the rally.

Police raided the residence of PTI leaders Hammad Khan Niazi and Bajash Khan Niazi in the Manawan area but could not arrest the two leaders as they were not present at home at the time of the raid.

Hammad vowed that the rally in Lahore today will be a historical one. “We will not be intimidated by such measures [raids by police]” and said that they would stand by PTI Chairman Imran Khan till their last breath.

Similarly, the police conducted a raid at the residence of PTI’s PP-145 candidate Malik Mubasher Lal in the Samnabad area but failed to arrest him as he was not present at home.

“We are not be afraid of police bullying. The government has become a victim of cowardice,” Lal said, accuding the police of breaking the walls of his house and stealing valuables in the name of arrest.

“Imran Khan is the future of this country. We will support him till the last drop of our blood,” Lal vowed.

Lal said that come what may, he would attend the meeting along with his family members. “The police have arrested my relatives as well as my children. Still we will participate in the rally.”

This is what we feared but even i never thought that the fascism would get anywhere near this level. Economy destroyed, elections cancelled, media cowed, journalists killed, party workers killed, assassination attempt on leaders, protests banned, fake cases, and protestors killed. Major and you still believe this isnt Martial Law.

Our Generals have shown why they are called duffers. I always thought they had the best interests of the country, but its shocking to see the levels they would go to stay in power. Crooks like Munir, Bajwa, NS and AZ will lose nothing because they gey paid in Dollars and have their billions abroad, but for the 230mn, it's a matter of life and death.

As PTI Chairman Imran Khan reached a Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday to secure interim bail in three terrorism cases, he told reporters that a “reaction” to the “atrocities done to the PTI” would come from the public today at the party’s Minar-i-Pakistan rally and urged supporters not to back off “under any circumstance”.

Talking to the media outside the court while sitting in his vehicle, Imran said a public “reaction would come today to whatever method they (the government) will use”.

“We will not back off under any circumstance,” the former premier vowed.

He further asserted, “I am saying today, that they (the government) will see the largest rally at Minar-i-Pakistan in the country’s history.”

The PTI chief went on to claim, “1,600 workers of ours have been taken away only because they want to fill our Minar-i-Pakistan rally today.”

Comparing the “current atrocities done to PTI” to those committed in India Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, Imran castigated the government for “using every method to crush the PTI” and for “torturing and picking up people”.

He further said, “Atrocities are being committed but this is a fight and a jihad for haqeeqi azaadi (real freedom) [so] sacrifices will need to be given. I am also ready for this and my entire team is ready as well.”

Internet outage reported in Minar-e-Pakistan area; Imran on his way
Prior to the PTI rally, internet outage was reported in Lahore’s Gulberg, Minar-e-Pakistan, Data Darbar, Lari Adda and nearby areas.

According to footage shared by the PTI, the party workers and supporters had packed the venue in anticipation of Imran.

Our establishment which is on USA payroll is wetting its pants as we speak.

I don’t have much hope that anything is gonna change though. Unless the public attacks the houses of the establishment and hang them openly in public.

Mashallah, Pakistani public came out strongly for the jalsa, but it would be nice if they came out even strongly and in large numbers all over Pakistan to shut down the corrupts and put those cowards back in their holes... inshallah Pakistan will attain its true sovereignty soon.

For months we have seen the evil side of Pakistan. It was amazing to see tonight the majority who fear only the almighty .

After being shot , abused , threatened with everything bar a nuclear strike , Imran khan looking healthier than ever & stronger than ever . The crooks Will literally have nightmares before they wake up to their pretend Sehri.

The criminals in government & corrupt generals plan to sell out Pakistan so eventually it ends up like Iraq & Syria .

It’s up to the people inc police , judiciary & army personnel to decide if they want their children & grandchildren to live in a destroyed nation with no happiness but only misery . Imran & his support staff have done all they can imo .

These power jalsas with djs will do nothing

Unless these people rise up violently like what happened in Iran
Or in Turkey when there was an attempted coup .

Nothing will change .

PTI ‘defies all odds’ to stage Lahore rally
Imran says real freedom will come only if rule of law prevails in country

PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Saturday lambasted the incumbent regime, saying it was bent upon creating an “environment of fear” and hailed the participants of the Minar-e-Pakistan rally for reaching the venue despite all “odds” despite a security alert issued by the caretaker Punjab government.

"One thing is clear, whoever is in power, they will get a message today that people's passion cannot be curbed via hurdles and containers," he said while addressing a charged crowd in Lahore, adding that around 2,000 PTI workers had been put behind bars only to create hurdles for party’s rally.

Holding the incumbent rulers responsible for the current situation of the country, he questioned did our ancestors give sacrifices for this Pakistan?

“Level playing field does not mean to tie Imran Khan's hands and give others all the facilities but it means to give an equal opportunity to all,” he said.

"I have completed a century of cases, I might even cross 150. I have 40 terrorism cases registered against my name. Poor spend their entire life fighting false cases in this country," he added.

The PTI chief noted that in Sindh one could not stand up against the influential. "They call it Zardari system."

Imran said “real freedom” will only come if rule of law prevailed in the country.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was “begging around the world” but still was getting no reprieve.

He recalled that PDM staged three long marches during PTI's tenure but the then government created no hurdles in their way. "I even said I will make arrangements for their dinner."

He said that PTI had taken permission for a rally on March 8 to start its election campaign from Zaman Park "but we suddenly came to know that police had started baton charge and used [tear gas] shelling. They only wanted to create chaos. I called off the rally because I did not want bloodshed."

Minister rejects claims all routes to PTI rally blocked
“It is the foremost duty of the Punjab government to provide security to the general public," says Mir

Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir has contradicted the allegations that barriers were placed to stop the people from going to Imran Khan’s public rally.

He said the government had not closed all routes to the rally site. Keeping in view the security of people, a few routes have been temporarily closed, so that the passersby can be frisked over there.

He said: “It is the foremost duty of the Punjab government to provide security to the general public, keeping in view the present security situation. In view of security apprehensions, containers have been placed on some routes.

“The danger of terrorism increases in public gatherings and that is why check-posts have been placed on behalf of the law-enforcement agencies to protect the citizens. The purpose of these check-posts is not to provide discomfort to the masses but to provide them with security.” He rejected the allegations levelled by the PTI leaders, who stated that the government had placed containers and blocked the routes to stop the PTI workers from participating in the public rally. He clarified that the caretaker government had granted permission to the PTI to hold the rally. He said there was no obstacle on behalf of the Punjab government to the rally.

Just imagine the crowd if they hadn't cut the roots in Lahore and into Lahore in the greater conurbation

Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park suffered a loss of approximately Rs8 million due to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Minar-e-Pakistan rally held a day earlier, Express News reported on Sunday.

Parks & Horticulture Authority Lahore (PHA) has started a survey for the damages in the park and estimated the loss to be around Rs12 million. However, the final report will be issued by March 27 (tomorrow).

Moreover, due to the rally, most of the parks and small plants of the Greater Iqbal Park were destroyed, while the locks installed on the gates by the PHA administration were also broken by the participants of the rally.

According to Javed Hamid, project director of Greater Iqbal Park, the PTI had caused a loss of Rs4 million in the previous rally, the amount of which has not been paid till now.

He added, "now more damage has been caused, a report of which will be prepared and sent to the leadership of the party".

The Lahore rally, which was originally planned for Wednesday, was scheduled for Saturday as the district government had refused to grant permission for the purpose.

Earlier, the party had twice endeavoured to hold a public gathering in Lahore but the provincial government imposed Section 144 on both occasions.

What's this story?

Apparently Bajwa told Javed Ch and another journalist that he humiliated SS about Hamza being made CM, he said why did you make someone so useless as CM, could you not find anyone else. Apparently the idiot didn't utter a word in the midst of the humiliation
