It appears that it was a shot by Mohammad Nawaz which hit Shan on the head.

Oh no :( hope he is ok

Cant imagine what his loved ones must be going through.

This is devastating news. Hopefully he is fine.
I wish him speedy recovery.

Hopefully it's not serious. Allah khair karay.

In the video above, he got up so that is good news.

Thankfully he was able to get up and walk still. In sha Allah he will be fine.

Wow this is a horrible nightmare to get hit in the head unprotected??, hopefully it was away from any of the sensitive regions.

I’ve always cringe when in the nets, once someones shot hit me directly in the knee. In the head it must be 10x worse.

Hopefully he recovers well.

Happy to be corrected here, but from the video it looked like he either collapsed or gingerly went down in pain.

Head trauma is no joke. I hope I’m jumping to conclusions, because that’s the type of injury that can have serious affects, not just on your playing career.

InshAllah I hope he gets better soon.

Head Trauma can manifest itself later - a lot of times people feel "ok" at first and then display issues later.

This is where the scan is important.

May ALLAH swt grant Shan Shifaa - Ameen

Update from PCB on Shan Masood:

All of Shan Masood's neurological observations are normal. His CT scan only shows superficial bruising where the ball struck him. He currently is asymptomatic and as concussion, he will be re-tested tomorrow

This could have extremely lasting effects on his ability to play fast bowling vs short pitched deliveries.

Like Ahmed Shehzad was never the same again after getting hit by Johnson

I believe he was hit not by a bowler but by a shot from Mohammad Nawaz whilst he was at the non striker.

This was scary. Hope he's fine.

Concussion protocol will definitely rule him out of the first match. 1 day rest followed by gradual increase in activity starting from aerobics.

Hope the guy is ok and hopefully he is available for the first game

Any blow to the head whether by a bowler, or even fielding can make you feel mroe aware and nervous due to the shock/jolt and pain.

Hopefully he can clear his thoughts and not overly think whether another ball will be going towards his head is what i'm saying. Can't get too muddled in the middle.

ICC's Concussion Management guidelines.

Rehabilitation

The Berlin Consensus describes a graded return to play process leading to a formal medical
clearance. Each stage of the rehabilitation should be reviewed to ensure that concussion
symptoms have not returned. Generally, concussion symptoms will settle within 2-3 days
and a player diagnosed with concussion is ready to return in about a week but in some
individuals this time might be shorter or longer. Experienced medical oversight, as occurs in
elite teams, is essential if a player is to return to play within a week or on a subsequent day
of a multi-day match. A team physiotherapist may fulfill this role in the absence of a team
doctor, if they have been specifically trained and have had supervised experience in the
management of concussion and have adequate specialist medical advice available. An
experienced match day doctor can support the process under these circumstances.

Typical graded return to play for cricket:

- 24 hours relative rest
- light aerobic exercise
- light training

CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES
11 / 22 Dec 2020
- full training
- cleared to compete

If at any of these stages’ symptoms return, the player should drop back an exercise level.

If the player is a student they may require a couple of days off school to rest. A player should
not return to full training if unable to attend school or work without symptoms returning.

The return to play decision - for a subsequent match or during a multi-day
match

A concussed player requires a formal medical clearance to return to training and play and
never permitted to return on the day of the injury. Usually a player will recover in about 7
days but this can vary from individual to individual.

I am guessing he thought it was Asif's turn at bat, and was not paying attention to the proceedings.

All the best and a speedy recovery!

I hope he is OK and wish him a speedy recovery.

I also hope that either the India Pak game rains out, or if the doctors advise him to rest for a few days.

Don't want to see his misery with bat at No 3. against India.

Babar Azam: "Shan Masood is fine and has recovered from his injury. He's ready for tomorrow's match if needed, but we've not selected our final team yet"

Like Ahmed Shehzad was never the same again after getting hit by Johnson
Shehzad was hit on the head by correy Anderson in UAE i think, no?

Whats the update..
