GAWADAR: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s CEO, Wasim Khan said they will start development work at the Gawadar Cricket Stadium as soon as possible.

Speaking to ARY News, Khan said they will try to bring First-class cricket to this ground after quick development work.

“We aim to do some development work here including the installation of floodlights. We aim to conduct First-class cricket here. This is one of the most beautiful grounds in Pakistan,” he said.

Khan said they are also planning to conduct a festival match between two PSL franchises after this year’s season. “I have plans to organize a festival match between the two PSL franchises. If not this year, then next year we will make it happen,” he concluded.

It must be noted here that Gawadar Cricket Stadium’s pictures went viral on social media and attracted the entire cricket fraternity because of its location between the mountains.

Can anyone confirm whether this is artificial plastic grass or not?

Gwadar Cricket Stadium, being dubbed as the "world's most beautiful cricket stadium" by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (HRD), held an exhibition match on Friday.

The match was held between Gwadar Dolphins, captained by PM's aide Zulfiqar Bukhari, and Showbiz Sharks, which is being led by Pakistan Cricket Board's Chief Executive Wasim Khan. The Gwadar Dolphins won the toss and chose to bowl. British High Commissioner Christian Turner officiated the toss.

Stars including Fakhr-i-Alam, Ali Zafar and Aijaaz Aslam also participated in the match.

The match was dedicated to mountaineer Mohammad Ali Sadpara, who was recently declared dead more than a week after he went missing on K2 during an expedition. The players also said a prayer for the celebrated mountaineer before the match.

The stadium also earned high praise from the International Cricket Council a few weeks back when the body shared photos of the sports venue.

"Show us a more picturesque sports venue than the Gwadar cricket stadium in Balochistan. We'll wait..." the tweet said.

Looks an amazing venue.

Hope that one day top level cricket is played here.

The UK HC seemed pretty excited and impressed by the venue - could be a huge win if we can have matches there

This ground will become a test venue.Gwadar will become a big city in the next 15 years. It will have modern infrastructure, hotels, residential and commercial areas.

Why not first create a fist class venue in Quetta and interior Sindh? Seems a waste of money to me.

Good.

It’s the only terror-proof Pakistani venue. It should be the home of Pakistani international cricket.

Not sure what you mean by this. Gwadar has had way more terrorist attacks in the last few years than most other cities in Pakistan. Moreover it is more susceptible to terrorist activities as the BLA wouldn't be happy with Pakistan playing in Balochistan.

Other international matches and PSL are being played at terror prone venues and International teams and players are still coming ?

lol cast the dude in the next Bollywood colonial film as villian

It's a stunning backdrop but obviously will need a larger capacity and upgrades to playing surface before hosting big events.

For now, it can serve the purpose that Queenstown does for New Zealand in hosting tour matches, the odd T20 and should host matches against likes of Zimbabwe where you know you won't attract large crowds.

The pitch and ground itself needs a lot of work. The whole surface needs to be relaid with proper turf grass rather than the artificial grass that’s there currently. Then they’ll be able to create a pitch square rather than the concrete centre.

Commercially it will not be viable for PCB to host an international level match here for a considerable time.
Most likely it will be a domestic venue or at most just exhibition match.

PCB should focus on developing a 2 level infrastructure 1 focus on 8 large cities to develop a full-fledged international level stadiums. I.e. Peshawar, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Karachi, Haydarabad.

While a second tier could be developed in smaller cities with infrastructure good enough to hold any international stadium in case of need. cities like Mingora, Mardan, Abbotabad, Muzafarabad, Mirpur, Qutta and Gawader.
Gawadar looks promising, PCB must develop it along with some other stadiums just as a backup to host a match in case of certain situations. for example it can host a test match in December. if PCB has to host a series in November december and January with 3 test matches than this could hold one test match along with Karachi and Multan.

And it right time that PCB should be looking to have more than one stadiums in bigger cities to like Lahore Karach Peshawar and Islamabad, And stadiums should be moved out side the cities too as its becoming a very hectic exercise to host a match and provide security which effects life in entire city.

Spot on. Just needs a proper dressing room/ media room and some bigger grass banks.

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the province is giving special attention to promotion of cricket and other sports.

He was speaking to media personnel along with former captain of Pakistan cricket team Inzamam-ul-Haq here on Sunday.

The chief minister said he wanted the players from Balochistan to become part of the national cricket team and for this purpose the provincial government was trying to provide maximum facilities to local cricket teams.

“Gwadar and Ayub stadiums are examples of the government’s efforts for promotion of cricket in the province,” he added.

Mr Alyani said that Inzamam had always been his hero in cricket. The people of Balochistan were very happy to see Inzamam among them and young players of cricket in the province would love to get his guidance in the game.

The chief minister said the management of Quetta Gladiators should select talented players from Balochistan in its team.

Answering a question, he said: “Of course, my favorite team in the Pakistan Super League is Quetta Gladiators and I pray for its victory in the tournament.”

Speaking on the occasion, Inzamam said that he was very impressed by the hospitality of the people of Balochistan. “The Balochistan Chief Minister is working hard for promotion of cricket in the province,” he said.

Gwadar International Stadium to host T10 league in Nov

QUETTA (Dunya News) - The Balochistan government has announced to hold International T10 League in newly built Gwadar Cricket Stadium this year.

The decision has been made by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal. International T10 League will be organized immediately after T20 World Cup in Gwadar.

Balochistan Secretary Sports Imran Gachki said that T10 League will be held at Gwadar International Stadium at the end of November, adding that neighboring countries will also be invited for T10 League. “T10 League will be a unique league of Pakistan for which work is going on,” he said.

He further said that the league would provide an opportunity for the players of Balochistan to learn.

This stadium should be improved so that it is used for test cricket.

I understand that T20/T10 will bring more revenue, but I also believe that the natural landscape would be perfect for hosting a test series.

Very picturesque ground. Those white limestone cliffs provide a nice backdrop. They probably won't need sidescreens for red ball games.

I still remember playing cricket at the beach in Gwader in the late 80s and early 90s With my brothers.

I never thought one day Gwader would have its stadium.
