Topley has been on the scene for a bit of time now, but seems to have truly announced himself today with a brilliant 6 for 24 to bowl out India and win the Lord’s ODI for England.

What else can this tall paceman achieve?

His wickets below.

Topley: Happy to have played my part in England's 100-run win over India in the 2nd ODI

Unsurprisingly, Reece Topley has been named as player of the match for his record bowling figures.

"It was a terrific team performance from the other day and I'm just happy to have played my part.

"It means a lot and makes it all worthwhile. It was just over the stand where I had surgery three years ago so it's come full circle, which is crazy.

"It's everyone's dream to play for England and I just want to pull on the shirt as often as possible and play my part in winning games for England."

Even if he's not consistent 140kph bowler. I think his height will always give him an edge. England should definitely keep him in the mix even when likes of Woakes, Wood and Archer return. He gives that variety to the pace attack that's needed on flat decks.

Always rated him.

He's been terribly unlucky with some horrible injuries during his career.

Bowled a great length today against India.

Hussain: Topley an outstanding story.

Former England captain and Sky Sports pundit Nasser Hussain was full of praise for Topley after his 6-24

"It's an outstanding story, the way he's gone through the ups and downs, the stress fractures.

"He's bowled well in white-ball cricket of late and as well in that T20 game at Trent Bridge when everyone else was going around the park.

"It's his place now and when you get figures like that, with so many big games coming up and England are looking for bowlers with a long list of injuries...if some bowler can stand up and continue to put in performance after performance then you're almost saying 'you can't leave me out'."

Bounce, left arm angle, accurate and occasional 140 kph in helpful conditions. How do you even play this guy ? Terrific bowling.

His next performance will be interesting. Anyone can have one good day.

Interesting if he can put some cricket together. Looks a really awkward customer to deal with. England need a bit of variety coming through.

Topley has been always seen as decent white ball bowler but never delivered big performance like he did yesterday.

England have plenty of left armers to pick from with topley, willey and Sam curran in the team. David payne and Luke wood are close to selection as well.

Have had a tough career with injuries and the toll it takes on an athlete. Potential was always there but, there have been a lot of struggles to this point. Used to be much quicker in his early days if I am not wrong. If he remains fit, he will be most likely be a constant part of the England LOI squad going forward.

He is back to playing FC cricket as well which was a very long shot until couple of years ago. So good fitness levels and consistent performances, he might even have a chance in the test side.

I thought he was unlucky to not get picked for the 2019 World Cup squad.

Two back to back ODIs with a fast bowler picking up a 6fer

Reminds me of the good old times when there was 1 ball used throughout

I'm glad England didn't give up hope on him despite the various injuries he suffered over the years. Remember seeing him back on 2016 on the South Africa tour and he was just as impressive even back then.

Having a good left-arm seamer in your side is a massive positive. Especially if you are playing against India :ashwin

Topley suffered from multiple stress fractures in his back.He would have been even more lethal if he was injury free.

Hoping he can stay fit because if so he looks a very good prospect for the next 4-5 years.

Topley did bowl well and looks a decent bowler. However Indias batting has a habit of looking clueless vs left arms quicks (Amir / Boult).

he is quick as well and James Foster the Essex wicket keeper used to stand up to the stumps to him

His height is his main weapon. Gets awkward bounce from good length. He was hitting the high end of the bat and glows of the Indian batsmen a lot yesterday.
I am not sure how good he will be on low bounce pitches in subcontinent.

Vic Marks 5-20, forgot about that. Good old Vic. I remember him getting two test fifties in Pakistan, both in support of Gower centuries.

Should do well today considering the pitch. Expect him to rip through our top order once again

Topley has taken 2-2 off 2 overs against South Africa so far today.

Having a brilliant summer is this kid. 11 white ball wickets so far!

Wouldn't call boult or amir quicks. Medium fast bowlers morelike.

First game in a while for Topley where he has had a tough opening spell.

Though not always a lot a bowler can do when QDK turns up in that sort of mood.

Reece is all over South Africa in tonight’s T20I. Two wickets in his first over.

What a summer for him.

Reece Topley is fully fit and will play his first competitive match since October at the inaugural SA20, which gets under way from next Tuesday to 11 February.

First game in IPL 2023, and injured

As RCB won the match with resounding success, veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik shared updates on Topley's injury in a conversation with JioCinema where he said that Topley's shoulder did pop out but also went back in eventually.

"It (shoulder) did pop out, but it went back in. I think he went for a scan during the game itself. He’s not in as much pain as we thought he’d be in. We’ll have to wait and see,” said Karthik

England bowler Reece Topley has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League after dislocating his shoulder.

Topley, 29, sustained the injury while fielding in Royal Challengers Bangalore's first game, against Mumbai Indians on 2 April.

RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed that Topley had returned to England.

He had only recently returned to playing after an ankle injury that ruled him out of the T20 World Cup.

Topley had suffered ligament damage to his ankle after stepping on a boundary sponge in training and was sidelined for almost three months.

The seamer returned to action in January in the SA20, South Africa's franchise T20 tournament.

He then made his international return in England's one-day international series against South Africa in February.

The latest injury is another big disappointment for Topley, who made his England debut in 2015 and had worked his way back into the set-up after suffering four back stress fractures in five years.

England do not play any white-ball cricket until their series against New Zealand that starts at the end of August, followed by the 50-over World Cup in India in October.

That gives Topley time to recover, but little opportunity to prove his form or fitness leading in to the World Cup.

Topley bowled two overs and took the wicket of Australia's Cameron Green before suffering the injury.

His absence adds to RCB's list of injuries this season, with his fellow England team-mate Will Jacks suffering from a thigh problem.

Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood is also not expected to feature in the first half of the tournament while batter Rajat Patidar has been ruled out too.

RCB are yet to announce a replacement for Topley.
