[VIDEOS] Shadab Khan: The batsman

batting average of 27 and bowling average of 42 after 20 tests. scored 258 against SA in his next test and never looked back since.

kallis after 15 tests averaged 26 with the bat and 42 with the ball. flintoff average 20 with the bat and 47 with ball after 20 tests. chris cairns after 15 tests average 20 with the bat and 34 with ball.

investing in an all rounder is a massive risk, but the payout if they come good is huge. either shadab fails to develop and costs a place in the team for 3 or 4 years, or he does and balances the test side out for 10 or 15 years.

This is why I asked him this question.
Shadab is not stupendously talented in any one skill, but he has great desire to improve and contribute, and invariably ends up punching above his weight. Overtime, I do see him as a key contributer in our test team.
He is similar to Ravi Jadeja in a lot of weighs.

I expect him to end up as a better batsman than jadeja, as he favours that skill, but not as good a bowler.

Didn’t score in the second innings but his short test career with the bat has shown glimpses of promise. The best way to judge his batting is if Shadab is promoted up the order and given more time at the crease and see if he can take full advantage. I highly doubt management would take that route though.

Babar clearly has plans for Shadab to bat further up the order for the upcoming T20I series:

----------------------------------------------------------------

[Shadab Khan's role based upon his PSL performances]

"We all saw how outstanding Shadab was with his batting and bowling during the PSL so we will also look to utilize him for Pakistan; We will look to send him up the order depending on our plans"

Good little all-rounder developing. Keep going youngster and let the haters burrrrrnnn!

237 runs so far in the National T20 Cup at an average of39.50 and a strike rate of 160.13.

Can't argue with those numbers.

If Babar opens in T20, can be an option for No. 3. Only problem is somewhere in top three, there should be a lefti - but including Shadab, there are three right-handers already. 5-6 could be too low as he is not instant hitter, neither Rizwan. May be, one solution can be trying to open (& keep) with Zeeshan (Ashraf) and play Shdab at 4 - in T20, he makes the playing XI on merit hence a floating spot won't hurt his selection merit. For the WK spot, I am not sure whom to pick - heard Moin's son keeps ..... may be in a year or two, a very good bet for T20 WK

1. +Zeeshan
2. Babar
3. Haider
4. Hafeez (For the time being, he is not going anywhere - later Shadab replaces him & may be Azam goes to No. 7 - Kid is young and the type of hitter T20 no. 7 needs to be)
5. Fakhar/Malik (The reason to pick FZ at 5 is that he is considerably better against spin & gives another dimension to middle-order. Can swap with Zeeshan)
6. Shadab
7. Khusdil
8. Wahab
9. Rauf
10. Shaheen
11. Open spot - depending on wicket, 4th pacer, all-rounder or specialist spinner.

Maqsood is too old to invest now, otherwise I would have put him at 5. PAK badly needs the replacement of Wahab - his next fall will be the end of it.

I really hope Wahab continue to serve in T20s for next 2 years while retaining his pace. I frankly see no one good enough as him in T20s yet. He can hit big and those deadly yorkers and change of pace. :virat1

Shadab goes out but not before scoring a fine 46 off 27 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes

A much-needed 46 off 27 balls today in the National T20 Cup - problem is he doesn't do it often enough.

He played a good knock, but that consistency is a major issue. He doesn't do it enough unfortunately.

batted alone, did quite well, but no one supported him

Should bat at No.4 in T20Is as well.

Rizwan
Babar
Fakhar
Shadab (spin)
Iftikhar (spin)
Khushdil (spin)
Asif
+4 pacers

This will be pretty solid team in Australia, obviously if all the players are in form.

His batting has become so good. Won pakistan games in bangladesh and westindies recently too by hitting those sixes.

Confidence cricketer this lad.

When he's confident and on top of his game, he is destructive with bat and/or ball.

Haven't seen him this well very often - shows what he is capable of.

What an incredible knock!

I really wish he can play like this in international cricket.

Should bat at No.4 in T20Is as well.

Definitely not a good idea. Given his potential to be a liability with the ball he needs to focus there and be a lower order bat if we need him.

Anyway i think he was tried up the order in t20i's already vs England. Obviously there's a big jump between internationals and PSL.

Dreadful innings should have been out 7/8 times… he better not try to abuse 3-6 paks batting line up. & stay in his rightful place at 7/8.

It was an incredible Innings however in international cricket he should stil bat at 7/8.

In T20s you’re allowed the ability to shift players up and down or a regular basis.

Babar
Rizwan
Fakhar
Shadab
Malik
Iftikhar
Asif
Nawaz
Hasan
Rauf
Shaheen

If Haider Ali isn’t consistent enough then he should bat at 4 and Khushdil at 7

He was dropped a couple of times especially the Anwar Ali one. He looked to slog sweep a lot but I have to say he missed a lot of deliveries to smash runs, he also needs to show more consistency to play at that number.

Hafeez has retired and his spot is available with quite a few players are after it. So he needs to put in more performances like this.

I think come the next world t20 in Australia I would pick this.

Babar Azam
Rizwan
Fakhar
Haider Ali
Iftikhar
Khusdil
Shadab
Hassan Ali
Wasim Jnr
Shaheen
Rauf

If we are chasing a big score either Haider Ali or fakhar can open.Iftikhar,Khushdil can provide some useful overs.Only Require one Genuine Spinner.
