Have noticed a trend. Does make a bit sense when you have nailed down the opponent, but what there is to smile about during a shameful defeat or during a tense game? Here is a sample of two clips from today’s game vs India.

Coping mechanism. They know deep down they dont deserve to be in the field

especially shadab& yasir keep getting phainty of their life but keep on smiling. like playing some friendly match.

We should be trying to re-build a new team , not worrying about them smiling lol. Problem with our fans is that they focus too much on irrelevant things.

What is wrong in smiling bro you are just in a bad mood this is not an issue at all.

The point I am trying to make here is the attitude. We can talk whole day about talent, system, but why do the players not feel pain or shame?

Reminds me of Shoaib Akhtar taking some smiling Pakistani fielders on with Punjabi abuses that got caught on air lol it’s on YouTube.

I think it was during Pakistan’s 2007 tour to India

Reminds me of my school days when I used to handover the blank answer sheet to the teacher in chemistry exams with a big smile on my face.

Hope you understand how indian fans felt seeig virat chilling with pak players on field at end of CT final.

You can do anything off ground,on grounf you represent people of your nation.you have to keep in mind how they feel about your behaviour

Agree. They like to give themselves a false sense of security that everything is okay.

When India is losing you can see it in the faces of the players.

Coz no matter what they will be paid like kings even for losing! They realise family ties and political connections means "playing" for Pak as long as they want.

Do you want them to cry onfield???

I second this.
I absolutely loathe their attitude.
Show some shame.Nobody is asking you to bawl in the middle of the pitch but if you would be genuinely heartbroken you can not be amused by these situations. Its terrible stuff. But mostly because they are used to being thrashed around and are not held accountable for zero fight whatsoever, unfortumately.

And they get free travel and entertainment through out the year and hefty paychecks for doing absolutely nothing.Who wouldn't smile.

Only if they had 'hate' would India for fire them up. But now they have an inferiority complex and are overawed by the likes of Kholi, Dhoni and Rohit.

Ohh for likes of Shoiab Akhtar, Miandad and heck even Aamir Sohail to fire up these 'daar pook' losers!

Because, as I mentioned many times, our players have lost shame in losing, they don;t care.

Yes, how can you smile , while losing shamefully.

Shadab and Hassan look good on tiktok rather than cricket field
Both overrated cricketers who were fast tracked blindly and now Pakistan is paying for it
Look at chahal and Kuldeep bowling and look shadab throwing fulltosses

i am reminded of the time Alec Stewart used to proudly claim that he would go to aussie dressing room for a pint after the aussies had pulverized them for the nth time in the ashes.

To folks who dont recall the tone for the ashes 2005 that england loves to talk about was set in the first or second odi that England played against Australia when Harmison bounced Ponting and opened a gash in his cheek, and when simon jones hurled the ball back at Matthew Hayden who was advdancing down the wicket. It made them the aussies pretty angry, but the tone was set by Michael Vaughan.

If pakistan wants to progress it needs to get rid of mentally meek cricketers like hafeez and malik and really look to get in the opposition's face.

Right now it seems like they are competing for the cleanest uniform or fairplay trophy.

It is not about mindless agression but having players now look at English line up for Ashes 2005 and show me who in current Pakistani setup can match those players.

Nothing wrong in that if you are genuinely happy and enjoying the game. On the other hand it could be a way to mask your nervousness.

Take your pick

well the first thing that happened was that they got rid of all these players whose career highlights were a solid decade of losing to australia. more than half the team was gone. All the folks who had mental scarring were gone by then.
there's nothing mindless about aggression when done with the right intent. If it backfires so be it. but its better than this meek mindset.

Honestly if i were a young player coming in to a team which had seniors like malik and hafeez, i would know that my team is basically mediocre.

Over the last 15 one-dayers, haris has scored a century, abid has scored a century, rizwan is scoring runs for fun and we have to be put through this ordeal of bringing these 40 years old uncles who have terrible decade long careers against the top 4 teams.

If you want to win first and foremost get rid of these garbage players and then instill some pride. I have all the time in the world for players like hasan and shadab and imad to find form (whether in the playing eleven or in the squad) but I have no patience for proven decade long mediocrity.

Stop talking about irrelevant things. We aren’t good enough. These are the facts we need to accept.

Hahaha just saw the video. Shoaib sure didnt hold back.

Are we watching ins some alternate universes? Rizwan, Abid, Imam, Babur, and Fakhar scored centuries in losing causes, and those were not hundreds that defined them as next Peterson who was instrumental in winning that 2005 series. Also, most of those players were well set up into English line up Strauss, Trescothick, Flintoff, Vaughan all were in the English setup and part of the English team for some years.

If we talk about 40 years than Malik seems to be the baggage Hafeez and Sarfraz were the keys for us winning the match against England just days ago.

The solution is not in aggression or playing younger players in the team we need to groom players in domestic cricket, or you will see a few days wonders like Shadab and Hasan. Also, last time I saw Rizwan batting, he looked like a fish out of the water in international cricket.

So please atleast look at visible facts before suggesting solutions and giving examples.

My dude, between 2003 and 2005 the england squad:
common players
Vaughan
Flintoff
Giles
Harmison
Hoggard
Simon Jones
Trescothick
The guys from 2003 that were not part of 2005:
Nasser Hussain (captain) (Essex)
Mark Butcher (Surrey)
Andrew Caddick (Somerset
John Crawley (Hampshire)
Richard Dawson (Yorkshire)
James Foster (Essex)
Darren Gough (Yorkshire)
Alec Stewart (Surrey)
Graham Thorpe (Surrey)

Secondly, before this world cup all the talk was about 400 or 500 and so far a little over 300 is turning out to be a good score so I am not sure if Abid, Haris, Rizwan would end up on the losing side if they scored centuries.
Lastly if you think Abid, haris, rizwan century scoring form < hafeez and malik, then we are done here.

Pakistani players won't be able to bully the Zimbabwe players also the way this current unit is.

Haven't seen a single player sledge the opposition in a long, long time. We've become smiling kitties who are very lucky to be playing in the world tournaments because of our past reputation.

Interesting. I think the Pakistan team and the management needs a complete overhaul. We need a task master, somebody who creates a tough environment for the next generation of players. We need to learn how to bully.

We need to army up this thang. Only those guys can run a proper institution in Pakistan.

I think it was the first test at Lords where Harmison hit Ponting with a nasty bouncer.

In response to the OP, small team mentality. They don't have the menacing and intimidating presence like Pakistan teams of old.

Nowadays we pick players from somewhat jahil backgrounds, who simply don't know how to handle the spotlight and fame.

Lack of self confidence simple as that.

And it's not just the current lot - Afridi and Yonus Khan were the same, specially Yonus - ready to have his whole buttesee out for no reason when engaging with opposition players.

I can understand where you are coming from, I felt absolute crap when Kohli was seen laughing chatting with Pak players moments after the CT loss.

What is wrong in smiling bro you are just in a bad mood this is not an issue at all.

This is the issue. The fan's mood.

A lot of Indians including myself are still irritated by the memory of Kohli acting like a buffoon with the Pak players after the final. The last thing you want to see when you've invested time, energy and emotion into a game is to see the players acting like, 'no big deal'. That's probably the only way for them to survive the stress, but for fans it can really grate.

Finally someone also noticed this coward attitude. Only Pak players keep smiling at opposition, mostly India. While Indians dont even look at them. Nothing wrong with smiling but keep that off the field. On the field, you focus on winning not making friends.

Pakistan players have an inferiority complex against India. They smile to get Indians to like them. Pathetic and coward attitude. I don’t see Pak players smiling at Zimbabwe.
