All,

I don't blame Wahab for the loss of the test and series.

But I get frustrated at his lack of using his brain. I thought he completely lost the plot in his batting, what was he thinking. I would been happy for him to rotate the strike between him and Abbass (who looked comfortable). But he decided to be a hero, which is OK if it works. The match was lost, but man use your brains, your no Afridi, to do what you were proposing. Use a bit of common sense man.

Knowing that Pakistan was on the verge of losing, is what had accepted. All I wanted him to do was put up a decent stand for the last wicket. If he had rotated the strike I would have been happy. No brains whatsoever.

PS. All the top order should be ashamed of themselves...

He is brainless in both batting and bowling. A total waste of space other than the random fluke spell every 6 months or so. He should not play for Pakistan again beyond this year.

This obsession with his pace is going to torture us for years to come. He is one of the worst bowlers in the world regardless of how fast he is.

Always been a big fan but stopped defending him 12 months ago as his flash in pan perfornances are not enough in terms of consistancy. Should just be a back up player at best in the team

He is pretty much done at test match level. I really dont think this guy can mentally recover from that pounding he took against India in the champion's trophy. Probably signalled the end/decline of his career at that point

A backup player should not be 35 years old with a receding hairline. It is time to write his career obituary and replace him with a young, raw pacer.

Given way too many chances. Past his expiry date time to move on.

How many players you have that are past their expiry dates? At this rate you'll need a second eleven thouygh tbf to Wahab his was the turaround spell in this match, the batters lost you this game again, should've scored more in the first dig.

Can't blame for batting...... He never was a batsman and never will be.....
Selection Committee must understand that he is no longer needed....

I look at the overall game and what a player does in the overall game. The so called experienced Phast bowler, what he did with his bowling? oo right I remember embarrassed himself and the team with 5 consecutive times missed his runup. We have given him many chances enough is enough we have to look for alternatives. and about the other players the side is comprised of youngsters just because Babar didn't score or haris failed in second innings doesn't call for a new 11

Glad you made this thread. Absolutely brainless stuff from wahab. Probably thinking of himself as bradman. Abbas was looking better than him at the crease.

Guys, lay off Wahab. His bowling got Pakistan back in the game. While his bowling may not be up to your expectations, it still has more impact than, let's see, yes Amir!

I understand you still were hoping when Pakistan were 8 or 9 down, but it is not really a reasonable expectation that your #10 batsman will take you to victory.

May not be the smartest player, but the guy gives you 100%, that is something to be appreciated.

1 played on 1 caught down Leg on another day he would've only picked one wicket he will always be a mediocre bowler and a tailender who never improves his batting the only good thing is his ability to bowl quick and give 100% in terms of effort.

He is Shafiq of the bowling, for Shafiq atleast age is still on his side.

He still has a role to play in Test Matches, did well in England and Australia. More so than Mohammad Amir atleast. Looked our best pace bowler in the UAE

Why are some of you guys talking his batting? His primary job is bowling. Honestly, if Wahab was a stock in the market, it would be either a great or the worst investment, depending of the time of the year :D

The 4 wickets he took will come back to haunt us. He is guaranteed a place for the next few years at least knowing how things roll in Pakistani cricket. He'll also make his way back into the next LOI squad on the back of those 4 wickets.

Was comfortably your best bowler in OZ and gave Pakistan a fighting chance in the 2nd test. Aamir is the one who's been missing more often than not.

LOL now a bowler is being criticized for his batting. Seriously why so much hate for poor guy?? He was the best bowler in the match. You guys can hate him all you want but he is not going anywhere.

Can't just understand one thing... How was Amir able to perform in County and not in international Test matches.... Now if u say conditions were helpful then what the hell happened in Australia and England.

Quality of batsmen and bowling a fuller length. The pitch and change of balls don't help either.

I feel some people are missing the point of this thread. May I respectively remind those people.

"WAHAB HAS NO BRAINS !!!!"

He made the decision to take the burden of the batting on with his partner. Which is great, but what did he do nothing. All I'm saying is that if they could have done a 20 run partnership (yes I know, I'm hoping). Just get some batting practice done in a challenging situation and give the other batsmen an opportunity/exposure as well.

I have already said there is no blame on Wahab for the loss. But really, he has "NO BRAINS". Continues to ball no balls, continues to go onto the pitch when following through. As One commentator said all he needs to do is to make his run up a step or two longer!!! Why does he not do this? No need to blame the couching staff. Is he listening to them? Who knows...

I already said "he may not be the smartest".

As for his batting, it is hard to say a different approach would have been more successful. He could have tried defending and restricting himself to singles. And if he got out doing that, you could write "Wahab is so brainless. The only chance he has was slogging and putting the spinners on the back foot. By doing tuk tuk there was zero chance they would score the 50 odd runs needed".

Wahab can be faulted whatever he did.

Already said the game was gone. He refused to take singles when they were on offer. Why? Did the other batsmen (Abbass) deserve a chance to hit out as well? When there is a single on offer (after his slog) take it. He did not!!. Wahab was faulted of how he handled the situation. Thats why from Hero to Zero he went.

As I said before this was an opportunity (for both batsmen) to work together under a pressure situation. He took that away from the other batsmen. So thats why he has NO BRAINS

Wahab has a high score of 39 in Tests. Abbas has a high score of 4. Not unreasonable for Wahab to try to shield Abbas from the strike to maximize Pakistan's chances of winning. Maybe the probability of success from following that strategy increased from 1% to 2%. We will never know...

Surprised to see him still picked, though the fact that there's no other fast bowler in contention for selection probably helps him. Having said that, his pace seems to have (understandably) dropped in recent times. 48 wickets in the last two years in 14 Tests at an average of almost 35.

Wahab in LOIs is not even worth discussing. 25 wickets in 25 ODIs since the 2015 World Cup, average 47 and economy 5.80.

Same in T20Is - barely a wicket per match along with a high economy rate of 8.30.

His 'exploits' with the bat are already well-known...

And more mediocrity - only bothered to play 1 QeA match and took 1/86.

Definitely do not want to see him playing ODI's anymore. Have known he is rubbish there for a long time.

His limited effectiveness comes in test cricket in the UAE where his extra pace and bounce can occasionally do damage.

It is pretty obvious that Amir does not always give everything in every single match, which is contrary to Hasan Ali.

This may be because of workload or wanting to play despite injuries, we won't know for sure.
