Quite telling that he has the worst average despite how bad his competing tail-enders are, themselves.

He could have been quite a handy #8 considering the application he has shown at times in the past but he has regressed quite a lot and should not bat any higher than #11. Looks like a walking wicket these days, even Zulfi Babar looked more competent with the bat.

That's proper number 11 material. Also reminds me of the book cricket scores
 
if there was a 20 member team I would have batted him at 20th position. Really has to be the worst tailender ever I have seen. Even Kaneria improved his batting in the later part of his career.
 
Don't see the point in people hyping up Wahab as he is some sort of an all rounder. The guy can hardly bowl 2 balls in one place and people expect him to score 20's and 30's.

His bowling has been all over the place for the last 3 years if not longer and him bowling at 142k-145k getting dispatched to the boundary in the same speed as they come to the batsmen.

What is a horror to add to that is his front foot issues that have played a major role in his bowling for the years and as seen in this current series where he has at times got wickets off no balls just like Shannon Gabriel of West Indies.
 
Don't forget his fighting fifty against Zimbabwe in WC 2015 the match we eventually won by only 10-15 runs. And also his 44 against Ireland a match we should have lost but Wahab won for us. Don't forget he is a bowler only not an all rounder.

Amir is not far behind him batting either looks a walking wicket or as if he is afraid everytime a ball is coming at him.

Yasir, Amir, Wahab in that order would do.
 
It's criminal that Wahab and Amir don't apply themselves more with the bat. On paper Amir/Shah/Wahab is a decent tail but in reality they never click together.
 
And someone users were making threads about him being tagged an all-rounder :))
 
Always preferred when he would go for it with the bat.

These days he just looks confused and bewildered with the bat, as if he's not sure whathe's supposed to be doing.
 
Has to be considered a proper tail ender now. Enough with the rubbish claiming he can 'bat' as well. Amir and Yasir are much, much better compared to him. Should be coming in at number 10 at most.
Amazing though, how much he has regressed considering he's played some decent knocks in one dayers in the past. But seems to have totally lost any mojo he had.
 
His 50 in the world cup gave everyone a false hope that he can bat. The reality is that he is just a tailender. He has an awful technique and is a proper number 11.
 
Struggles vs spin. Amir, Yasir & perhaps even Zulfiqar should be batting ahead of him in the UAE.
 
You lot remember the time when we had Zulqarnain Haider and Wahab Riaz at 6/7 for Pakistan in ODIs.


That was not a good time lol.


Wahab is beyond useless.
 
And sadaf can't get into the team because we have these batting bowlers.
 
His mentality is of a Tailender.

Also , he does not want to work on his batting. You do not need a coach to tell you that you need to improve your batting . One has to show initiate oneself.
 
His batting has deteriorated so badly and his average is now down to 8.50
 
His attitude is pathetic when it comes to batting really. Comes out for a laugh, scratches around and then gets out playing across the line missing a straight one. Someone needs to have a word with him.

Indeed. Very disappointing, Should have helped Babar, A score of 20odd would have been very useful.
 
He should never come in ahead of Amir.

Both Sohail and Amir are superior to him.
 
Grant Flower needs to have a word with him and spend some good amount of time with him with respect to his batting.
 
He doesn't have a brain. I've been an advocate of kicking him out of the side for ages and stand by it. He takes the odd wicket here and there but pretty much everyone else is a far better bowler.

The only reason he is still in is because of the fan base idiotic obsession with pace regardless of skill.

He reminds me of Gul, another brainless no hoper.
I just cant believe he comes in ahead of Amir?
 
Mode of dismissals are very similar to Saeed Ajmals.

Falling over trying to work the ball in to the legside.

Should be demoted to 11.
 
I've been saying this for time now that his batting is terrible. When used to be good, he used to take his time getting used to the pitch before hitting a few boundaries. His defence was somewhat ok, a little prod forward to smother the ball but nowadays he'll play a few dot balls then get out on 0. From now on Wahab should bat at 10. Shame on those who said Wahab is better than Sohail Khan who is an international class cricketer.
 
Not defence at all or got worse with time.

The only way he can be useful is by slogging from the word go otherwise he will be dismissed within 10 balls without scoring.
 
Even 10 runs would be useful and help the team. Even that seems to be beyond him.
 
If Wahab is dropped for his mediocre bowling,then he should go back to domestics,score heavily against trundlers and demand his selection as a batsman just like Kamran Akmal.

I love this. Our batting is in such sorry state that this may work.
 
Nothing to see here. A good batting or bowling performance by wahab is entirely random. You cannot plan for it
 
Good one last match so we expect more now - and he has to oblige.

Wahab in the interview before match : "I'm taking my batting seriously and working hard, focusing on my batting"
 
Wahab Riaz The Batsman?

He definitely played better than most of our batsmen that day.
 
Why don't we use hitting prowess of Wahab Riaz's at No. 7?

Since we all have been crying out loud for a "tallar" in our lower order akin to Razzaq and Afridi.
I think this man has proved more than once that he's capable of being the guy.
We should be using him in different position as situation demands. Let's say if he was sent up the order against india after at number 4. He could've surprised India if he stayed for 10 overs on the crease.
He can hit pace or spin equally well. If he gets out we don't have much to lose.
 
Send him at 4 for what? He's batting out of his skin at his current position. Let him enjoy that role.
 
Stupid idea, he is only good for a quick fire 10-15. If he makes that up the order is pointless.
 
Hassan Ali is better hitter than Riaz but Hassan bowling these days is very poor
 
Because losing 2 quick wickets in the middle overs is a momentum killer.

Lets say Babar gets out, and we send wahab in to hit a few.

Even if he hits 2 or 3 fours and gets out, we just lost 2 wickets in a span of 2 overs.

Kills the momentum. Especially for a panicky batting line up like Pakistan where 2 wickets get you 3 or 4 quick wickets as the whole batting line up collapses.

Yes if you are in a situation where you are 200-1 after 30 overs, so can send out a pinch hitter, but how often are we in that situation?

He looked good yesterday, and it should be dynamic.. depending on match situation he should be send.. esp against spin bowing.
 
He is playing with an injury, to make his place the selectors threw out Faheem Ashraf, Junaid and Shinwari.

Same thing they did with batting order they did not allow any other reserve.
His role is not to cover for the middle order collapses and Hafeez and Malik failures.
