Put aside the PSL corruption scandal and some minor organizational issues, how would you rate 2017 for Pakistan?

Other than the CT win - it was an average year for us again.

Lost the customary series to Aus again comprehensively and lost heavily to SL in home conditions. Also needed a last minute win against WI to win that series.

Some progress in our ODI and T20 teams but our Test side remains mediocre.

Mixed bag. While the CT win was incredible, being whitewashed to a mediocre SL team at home was probably the lowest point of our cricket since the spot-fixing saga.

Defintitely considering the past few years with a resurgence in the LOI team. The CT victory was a major achievement which is the sort of event which defines a great year. We had to beat some giants along the way to do it, which was a very unlikely outcome prior to the tournament. Don’t forget hosting some international cricket in Pakistan was also a step in the right direction.

I guess the CT win alone makes it a great year, even if we had lost each and every other match.

CT win
Internation games in Pakistan
PSL Final in Pakistan
Number 1 T20I team
First ODI win vs Australia in Australia since 2005
First series win in Windies though Windies are weak.

What more do you want?

Think we have our answer but do you think this was the best year ever in many years?

We did garbage in tests, but wonderful in ODIs and T20s.

It's been a good year no doubt about it. It's a whole new team after the likes of Misbah and younis gone. Winning the Ct was a result of youngsters in the team with a winning attitude. It is a dawn of a new age..it will only get better with more young blood coming in.

Best year in the last decade imo. Can't remember us having a better year.
Beat India in champions trophy final by a massive 180 run margin.
Only lost 1 limited overs series against a strong Australia at home.
Following a disappointing test series against srilanka with 8-0 in loi series.
PSL final in Pakistan
World xi visit to Pakistan
Srilanka visit to Pakistan
Hasan Ali number 1 odi bowler
Babar azam number 4 odi batsman
Pakistan number 1 t20 side
Imad wasim number 1 t20 bowler
Huge finds this year in shadab, rumman, Fakhar and imam.
Couldn't have been a better year!

Guys, under sarfraz we have only played 2 tests. Yes it was disappointing to lose but it's a new era and we can't expect sarfraz and co to be perfect first up. I'm sure our test team will improve the same way our limited overs teams have. Srilanka also played really well so credit to opposition and we just had a bad couple of games which can happen. We should move on and hope that our test team can also blossom in the coming months and years.
Our odi team was given names such as hopeless and pathetic less than a year ago and look at our odi team now. Not the best in the world but certainly a massive improvement from before.
The same can happen in tests Insha Allah. Sarfraz is a quick learner as is Mickey Arthur so hopefully we will turn it around in tests also.
As for limited overs we have lost only one series this year against aus in aus when azhar was captain.

I think it was a good year overall. Losing to SL is really not that big of a deal considering it was first series without Younis and Misbah.

Won CT
Won first ever series in WI
Return of international cricket to Pakistan
Some good players introduced

Certainly our best since 1999...

We had good years in the 80s and 90s but always choked in ICC Tournaments..I rate this year just below 1992.

Best since 1999..

The limited-overs teams are showing signs of progress and improvement but the Test team looks like they are struggling.

I hope the think-tank come up with some new ideas regading 5 day cricket as the approach against Sri Lanka was awful.

A mixed bag year over all.

Absolute high with the CT win.

Lost 2 Tests to WI (home and away). Got blanked by Lanka in Tests. Blanked by Aus in Aus.

Good thing is, Pak has started to dominate ODI cricket once again. The emergence of new bowling talent along with a quick scorer like Fakhar and a reliable batsman like Babar has done wonders for Pak ODI team.

Test team is in bad shape. With or Without Misbah/YK (Both were well over 40 and below average), the Test team needs new batting talent. Bowling is still fine for Test cricket.

Pak will be a top team in T20 cricket. They have all the ingredients.

Great year of course. Despite all the lack of basic sources to win the CT was amazing.

The 2nd icc trophy for pak EVER in the 50 over format. So for sure a great year. Beating India in final. You wont beat that so easily.

How many tests are we playing coming years?
Test cricket is fading away. LOI is the future. Like it or not.

Followed the team since 1987.
Watched us hammer India for fun in the 1990s.
Then felt humiliated over the last 15 years.
Beating them in the final at the Oval one of the all time great moments for me, my family and all our Pakistan supporting friends.
Fakhar Zaman need never bat again as far as I am concerned. You've done your job young man.
So fantastic year all in.

Well I would say that it's 75% good; mainly due to success at a main ICC tournament. The void left by Misbah and Younis was inevitable. It was always gonna prove to be a period of difficulty. There are still some holes in the test team.

Imam ul-Haq is an exciting player to watch out for. Shadab too.

I think with Sarfaraz's leadership, this can blossom into something even greater.

2018 can be another great year for Pakistan, in my opinion.

Well the Champions Trophy victory was a historic moment but I don't think it can be called a great year. A good year, yes, but I wouldn't look back at 2017 in a few year's time as a great year.

LO formats was successful. Found some new players and winning a trophy is always nice. Whilst in tests it was a depressing year. We have a lot of work to do in tests.

Apart from the Champions Trophy fluke, it was a pretty grim year.

However, 2017 is going to be remembered for the Champions Trophy and not the bilateral series. Similar to how 2009 is remembered for the WT20 even though it was a terrible year in terms of overall results. Multiple series defeats to SL, NZ, Australia etc.

Nonetheless, I expect things to only get worse from here. Our Test team is rubbish at the moment and the so-called revival in the LOIs fortunes is going to be arrested once we face some quality opposition.

Ahhh. The CT final loss still hurts?

When you win your 3rd ICC trophy ever and the first CT ever it is a great year.

All other results will be forgotten like in 2009 but the icc trophy victories wont.

Good year overall. The biggest priority this year was to improve our white ball cricket. A Champions Trophy win, whitewash of Sri Lanka and victory over the West Indies is major progress. We've seen new faces like Fakhar, Shadab, Fahim and Shinwari come in not looking overrawed by international cricket whatsoever.

The Test team had a difficult year but winning in the Caribbean in such dramatic fashion was a highlight. Losing to Sri Lanka was disappointing but you have to expect a transitional phase post-Younis/Misbah. There's plenty of time from now until our next Test series to sort out our batting lineup and I trust the Sarfraz/Arthur combination to get it right.

I really do not recall a year like that for many years!

Wonderful wonderful year for Pakistan and Inshallah a better year to come for us, Ameen!

The 'Daddy Day' Massacre of that great day in June makes 2017 a Great year for Pakistan Cricket.
Putting into context; A 'no hope' Pakistan team waiting to be eliminated after an early thrashing from our bitter rivals, only to get stronger and take the Crown from the arrogant Indians.
And long will this achievement in 2017 be etched into the History of Cricket.
