Was nothing learnt from the T20I series against England regarding our issues with power hitting?

Does everyone have the memory of a gold fish?

The batsmen were struggling to hit boundaries at the death and that too to some full tosses because lacking of power.

Asif and Khusdil weren't good enough, but why wasn't Azam Khan given an extended chance?

He needs to be given the same number of opportunities as Asif Ali, otherwise the same issues will remain.

The likes of Saim, Haris, Zaman etc are good upfront, but not for the end.

Imad will be the only one at the end who can hit.

Fakhar can play in the lower order the Innings he played against Australia in the world cup and how u destroyed starc was incredible.

Azam Khan can't field in the outfield he proberly would have got longer run if he could field better.

Asif and Khusdil don't lack power, they have a limited range of shots and the top teams in the world do their video analysis, homework and know what deliveries to bowl, which line and length and where to place the fielders. We don't have versatile 360 degree players who will torture the bowlers.

I already mentioned that Asif and Khusdil weren't good enough, but why not give Azam Khan a fair chance?

He proved his worth in the PSL and deserved a longer rope.

That's great, but what are we supposed to do about it exactly?

We tried playing 'hitters' and gave Khushdil, Asif Ali and Haider Ali an extended run in the middle order. To this day people criticise the management for playing them for too long for no reason.

I assure you that Lance Klusener is not sitting undiscovered in domestic cricket. Pakistan are sorely lacking in reliable lower order hitters and Azam Khan is not the answer.

Only one game he did that.

He has batted at 4 multiple times, but hasn't done much.

We can always try Shan Masood as our power hitter

The day Azam Khan can be a reliable outfielder, he gets into the Pak team.

However, you cannot play him as keeper for obvious reasons. The keeper role for all Pakistan formats is vital, because our strength continues to be our bowling attack. The better the keeper to complement that bowling attack, the more dangerous we are as a side.

Regarding other positions, it’s clear that Pakistan continue to have issues at No. 4 and no.5. This is why I think you’ll see Fakhar and Haris at these positions Vs NZ. It may help sure up the middle order finally.

Our hitters like Khushdil and AA are basically tailenders. Only Azam Khan has potential but he has about much fire in his belly as a Siberean winter

I think you just give a spot to one of these hitters. Mandatory to play one hitter in the team. Khushdil and Haider Ali didn't score quick enough to justify that title regardless of what they did in domestic. I wouldn't mind though if currently Asif Ali had a place despite his terrible average, as he did score quicker than the rest, and was fast from ball one. In the same way if Asif Ali were decided to be moved on from, that is fine, but someone like Azam Khan should take his place.

Especially given Imad's batting form, we could play Imad at 6, and play our so called hitter at 7. Most proper batsmen are going to struggle to play at 7 and average something decent there anyway. So might as well play someone like Azam Khan or Asif Ali there.

Number 6 could be an allocated 'hitter' spot but our fanbase will jump on them quickly when they inevitably fail. We possess zero batsmen who can attack from ball 1 so the role is a lost cause for us.

Instead having Iftikhar in that spot gives us a 6th bowling option which is actually very useful as he turns the ball away from the left handers.

On balance i think we're better off having Iftikhar making 20 (15) and chipping in with the ball then we are with Asif Ali scoring 9 (4).

Pakistan best choice of a lower order hitter is umar akmal , i dont like him but we lack hitter better than akmal.

I would rather much play Imad than both Iftikhar and Asif Ali at 6

That's correct, need the batsmen up top to get brisk starts and do the bulk of the scoring. Bowlers should train to be able to hit at the death. We can see that Shaheen has obviously been working on this aspect.

Pakistan have 3 accumulators at the top (Babar, Rizwan, and Shan). That's defensive mindset.

There should be one accumulator maximum.

This would be with the consideration that Imad is already in the team. There is still a gaping hole for a lower order batsman with no ideal options.

I agree thier is gap and gap can be filled with Imad but unfortunately isn't in the odi squad.

Yes you can tell that Shaheen has been working on this aspect which is good to see.
