What's new

Was Pakistan's Test series performance against England this year a fluke?

See here's the thing . . the saying, that Pakistan is unpredictable, compulsive, suicidal, exciting, etc. isn't unfounded! Its founded over decades of watching Pakistan cricket . .

They played a perfect test match at Lords! A team that doesn't have the potential to be a decent team can not play a perfect test match . . that's why test matches are test matches!

I have said it time and again . . issue with this team is:
1. Leadership
2. Attitude
3. Mindset
4. Resource utilization

Unless they fix that, you're gonna continue to get "perfect" performances (just to tease you about the art of the possible) but more often that not, they will make you want to pull your hair out because of what could have been!

You don’t fluke Tests. However, we can only win at Lord’s and Oval. Nonetheless, only a matter of time before they smash us as well.

There are no flukes in Test cricket - that's the beauty of the format.

The team which plays better over the course of 5 days wins.

Under Sarfraz, all our wins have been fluke-ish. Even if not exactly "flukes".

Because we win one, and lose 10 on a trot. Then win one again.

Unbelievably bad.

Let;s be honest, we were lucky to catch an unprepared and undercooked English team. We had played warm up games and then against Ireland. We came more match ready then England.

I bet if England had played India first and then us, we would have lost 2-0, bot matched by an innings.

The batting line up is with out doubt the worst we have seen in decades.

It was a 2 match series and that masked a lot of what was wrong with Pakistan. We managed to win the first test mainly because of Abbas and by virtue of being 1 up in a 2 match series, we ended up not losing the series.

But what many people here don't realize is that we got thrashed in the second test. Add in 2 more Tests, and the result would probably have been 3-1 to England. Even against Ireland we huffed and puffed to victory.

Ever since Younis and Misbah retires, Pakistan's Test team is in doldrums. We will continue to win one-off tests somewhere but for the most part, we are rubbish led by an absolute rubbish captain.

Despite us losing against NZ, I would still not rule out Pakistan nicking a Test match in SA but at the end of it all, that's what it really is - nicking. We can't dominate consistently.

I realized the true worth of Sarfraz as a captain when he uttered this - "India is scared to play Pakistan". Those who challenge the bravery of others are usually the most weak.

It was a two test series and once first test was won, they could not lose that series.I would not call that as great performance. If it was five test series they would have smashed Pakistan 4-1.
