To me in a 4th innings Pakistan's performance in the just concluded GABBA test was it's best ever in a 4th innings and it's performance overall amongst it's 4-5 best ever in a losing cause. It ressurected itself from the grave reminsicent of Russia winning the battle of Stalingrad in world war Considering they were hopelessly placed at 220-6 it was arguably the best ever resurgence of team in a 4th innings run chase .Pakistan came close to pulling of a Houdini act a rarely before creating the equivalent of a dramatic reversal of plot in an epic novel.I also rate this resurgence arguably amongst the top 5 test performances in a losing cause and amongst the greatest comebacks ever in test cricket. In other epic run chases rarely have the middle order capitulated and later batsmen revive a sinking ship so much.
Pakistan's 2 wicket loss at Barbados in 1988 and 3 wicket loss at Leeds in 1982 were 2 other great performances in defeat.
