Considering the most boring sports thread that we have - I for a second thought the ways we can improve cricket:

- 4 day D/N Test matches
- Reduce ODI cricket to 80 overs. (One bowler bowls 10 overs, and the rest 8)
- Should be a total ban on flat/dead pitches
- Balance the game between ball and bat
- Create proper one day and test leaugues where everyone plays each other home and away
- Every decision should be reviewed and should not take more than a minute or max a minute and a half
- Get rid of two white balls
- Bowlers should be allowed to bowl 3 bouncers per over
- A mandatory standard of boundary lengths
- Reduce bat size

Please add more thoughts.

1. Get rid off boring test cricket.
2. Get rid off boring bilaterals.
3. Introduce year long leagues where each player is affilated to one club only.
4. Worldcup between 20 odd teams every 4 years.
5. World T20 same as World cup.
6. Have a World Championship for franchises that take place annually.
7. Introduce proper transfer window.
8. Introduce T20 format in Olympics/Commonwealth/Asian games

Basically follow the football way and see how fan base increases along with more and more countries taking cricket serious.

Create test league similar to t20 leagues. One team can comprise of players of different nationalities.

I'd rather suggest to not play cricket at all. And please leave test cricket alone. Getting rid of Test cricket would be suicidal for the game. For obvious reasons cricket can't and never will be like football.

I think cricket is exciting enough the way it is. We have three different formats that are exciting in their own ways. No need to inject more artificiality into the game to make it more 'interesting'. D/N Tests would be a good move though.

All of a sudden we're seeing a lot of threads like these. All of a sudden cricket is in crisis? The real issues are the slow but consistent decline in the quality of cricket being played and a similar decline in the viewership. This trend is going to continue no matter what you do. The explanation for that is long and broad enough for a fresh thread which I'm hoping to write soon.

I saw this interesting idea. Instead of having traditional 50 over matches. The team that bats first has their innings split into two groups of 25. So you have a 25-50-25 match. This way, the team batting second not only has to reach the first innings target but also set a new target for the team that they have to chase in 25 overs. It's an interesting twist.

What happens if the team batting first has 5 wickets down in the first 25 overs for 130 runs and the team batting second scores 300 so how do you chase 170 in 25 overs with only 5 lower order bastmen? Doesn’t make sense...

i see what you mean but that could easily be the case for a regular 50 over match too,

i dont think changing test match format is as necessary as people make it. What should intead be done is pitch curators should be neutral ICC employees who get directives on how to make pitches from the ICC for international matches and test cricket should be played amongst the top 6 teams one series each in the winter and summer.

I don't think there is much to be improved in cricket right now apart from reducing bat sizes and making a standard boundary length. I like cricket the way it is right now tbh.

Don't need to improve or curtail anything. Just make the pitches more balanced and things will be good. Also the quality of the teams have dipped quite a lot in recent years which has also caused some one-sided boring series. Nothing to do with the format.

Making sure the pitches provide a contest between bat and ball .
Adding context to bilateral series.
Expanding the game into other countries
