Ahmed Shehzad speaking to the press

A lot of lessons to take from the first T20I - New Zealand is a special place for cricketers; when you come here of course you learn a lot especially as a batting side

I have been watching the ODI Series and the pitches were amazing and sometimes it was tough

When you come here after 2 years or so, it becomes tough to adjust

It was tough as it was a drop in pitch

Pitch was similar to the kind of pitch I played on when I was here before

We have to admit to something to move forward, which is that we are not playing good cricket and NZ so far have outplayed us in all departments

We need to come here 20-25 days before and play in a different environment and get used to

We all work hard but sometimes it becomes difficult to cope with conditions; if you come here 20-25 days before you enter the competition as it then becomes easier

I have good memories of this place and Auckland is always a special place to play cricket in and we have seen quite a lot of runs flowing here - the pitch looks good so far

You have to hope for the best; Things will never change if you dont make an effort

I can assure you we are trying hard but if its not happening for us, then you cant do much about it

You can do positive things and try as a team to come out of the shell

We still have a lot to play for, we are No 2 side in T20Is and we have a relatively new and young side.

We have proved our mettle in this format before, we have a lot to play for and we will fight like tigers tomorrow

You cannot blame one aspect of the team for the performances, you as a team are not performing well

If you talk about batting, then yes we are having an issue with the new ball

We lost in ODIs due to this and also in 1st T20I

When things got easy with the old ball, we had no batsmen left to play and we have to admit that they are bowling well and they are bowling hard at you

Sarfaraz is leader of the team but he is young and still learning

We did really well in the CT, we beat lot of good teams there

To come here and get a bashing and not winning any game becomes really tough and no one really wants to be in that position

Sarfaraz is a tough guy and he is still putting in [work] and he knows he has a lot to play for tomorrow

if we look at the 2016 England tour, we went there 20-25 days before and drew the Test series so it makes a difference

At the end of the day, you need to find small things to help you when you come abroad especially to a place where you dont go that often

When Aus came to UAE, they were there for a month

They acclimatized themselves and were demanding different pitches and that matters a lot

Why is Shehzad talking to the press? :)) Does suggest that he'll feature in the playing 11 for the next game

Btw

Shehzad was asked about Sarfaraz's 'split' :

His reply :

Really need media training for these guys!

LOL @ Sarfaraz being young. Pakistan has taken this senior / youngster thing to a new level.

And about shezad well.. you play like a mouse.

And these guys are at the international level. Now I understand why MA’s face looks like a pomegranate every time I see him on the T.V.

Selfie is gonna play and he will fail miserably. By playing like tigers he means they will score at least 50 in 10 overs. Maybe 50-4 this time? :inti

We all can thank revolutionary for imposing Shehzad on us. Inzi is such a big fan of Shehzad that he can't see him dropped.

Hopefully he has a totally flop game. Inshallah.

You know what? For the first time, I actually don't mind Shahzad wasting the powerplay.

If we can survive the first 6 overs losing no or one wicket, even with 30 runs on board, we will finally have a chance to put 140 on the board.

And what if it's a complete phatta and Munro chases that down in 10 overs? :inti

If only he could bat like he does at domestic...

The only reason he can bully the players in domestics is because he has international experience. Therefore he can use that experience to bully players who haven't had the same luxury. It's the reason why the TTF's at the international level are able to score a bulk of runs in the domestics.

Then Shehzad will say the following in the presser - "50-4 in 10 overs on this pitch was like 100-2 after 10 overs on any other pitch."

Shehzad played like a tiger today. Congratulations pakistani fans. Your opening problem solved

The sad part being that this performance will haunt us for the next 1 year.
I seriously hope that I am proven wrong & this guy continues with this fearless mentality and not get back to his timid approach.

Everyone fails here and there. He is our best choice
