England opener Ben Duckett says Pakistan can "crumble" and are under "pressure", despite the home side ending day two of the second Test in the stronger position in Multan.

Duckett's 114 led England's rapid response to Pakistan's 366, the tourists reaching 211-2.

But off-spinner Sajid Khan utilised the used pitch to take three wickets in an overall collapse of 4-14 that left England 239-6.

"Whatever the state of the game we always believe we can go and win," Duckett told Test Match Special.

"The first session tomorrow is going to be huge. If we can bat for as much as we can and get close to their total I think we will actually be favourites."

England earned an unprecedented 3-0 clean sweep in Pakistan two years ago, then pulled off a record-breaking run-filled victory in the opening match of this series last week.

In response, Pakistan made changes to their selection committee, dropped superstar batter Babar Azam and re-used the pitch from the first Test for the second, choosing three frontline spinners in their XI.

"We know that they can crumble and so the pressure is over to them," Duckett told Sky Sports.

"We're 1-0 up in the series, won the last series 3-0 and we know they're going to fight to make it as hard as they can for us. But we always believe we're in the game."

Sajid was one of four new faces in the Pakistan XI, playing his first first-class match since his last Test against Australia in January.

The 31-year-old watched the first Test on TV at home in Peshawar before being recalled to win his ninth cap for Pakistan.

In the space of 10 deliveries, the charismatic Sajid removed Joe Root, Duckett and Harry Brook, celebrating with his trademark one-legged pose.

"He's certainly a character. He was chirping away," said Duckett. "He doesn't get loads of bounce, bowls quite quick and flat. He didn't really miss."

England now face the likely prospect on a fourth-innings run-chase on a pitch that Duckett says will spin "more and more".

But the Nottinghamshire man, who turns 30 on day three, believes England will be in the contest in they can get close to parity on first innings.

"If we can get as close to Pakistan's total as we can and bowl better than them in the second innings, I think we'll be in a good position," he said.

"If we bowl well and keep the chase to anywhere around 200 or less, we'll believe we're in the game."

Pakistan can crumble or not doesnt matter, because if England still losses, it will look bad on them

I'm glad Duckett said this and he's not even wrong. I just hope Pakistan have the guts to stand up for themselves and make a statement by smashing England. Because otherwise they are just a bunch of mentally weak, gutless cowards that are not cut out for this level.

It would be better for Pakistan if pitch becomes more difficult and they get dismissed for 150-160 giving them lead of 250+.

Like Sajid Khan proved you wrong today?

Where was this fierce attitude when Bharat was giving them phainty after phainty few months ago?

Know your auqaat England. Don’t try to act gangster while playing minnows.

Okay, okay, okay. If this is what they want, Pakistan better respond.

Respond with the same aggression England are showing.

He is not wrong because Pakistan has played many poor 3rd innigns.

Key will be to not allow Eng to get close. 100 runs lead and then even if you score 175 runs, it becomes 275 runs.

Don't allow a innigns shoot out and even that should favour Pakistani due to Eng batting last.

if that’s what the top 3 teams think of you good lord knows what US of A & ireland think.

Tbh he is right under Shan Masood Pakistan are yet to win a Test match, that alone in itself is a big confidence booster.

There was a time when we knew that whatever the situation we could run through England for fun.

Sarfraz even mentioned it about England after the CT. He said they are a darpok team, put them under pressure and attack them and we can beat them.

Now they are saying the same about us.

Yep Pakistan can always crumble but for the first team it appears that they have luxury for that too. Courtesy of spinners like Sajid and Noman

Pakistan need to take a solid lead in the first innings , second innings of pakistan has been a issue , so a lead is very very crucial from Pakistan point of view.

This Duckett talk a lot and some people in England are already crying over 7th day pitch 😂😂
We Indians fully backing Pakistan to destroy ego of this English side..
Common Takloo spinner, 🔥🔥 demolish them 😍
I'm instantly became fan of Takloo spinner for his aggression and celebration 👍🏻

I liked him in Australia as well. Hard working spinner.

England could lead by 70 runs and still win by an innings.

Pakistan will be 9 down before they set a target, it’s too predictable.

Based on recent form he's absolutely right
On undercooked pitches pakistan batting has succumbed quicker than azam khan's form in the west indies

Duckett is a bit of a blunt and unapologetic character who has occasionally come out with some nonsense, but I don’t see much of a problem with this particular interview, and it is pretty much accurate. If England reach parity-ish then they will really fancy themselves to win this, equally, if they go down like a heap in the morning and end up 80-100 behind they will know full well that they are in a massive hole.

Weirdly he seems to be getting flack from Indians over it while Pakistanis are thinking that yeah he has a point.

I've said many times before that Indians seem to have taken Bazball super personally.

Why would india takes bazball personlity. We were exposed bazball cricket.

We heard lots of rubbish from tullebaaz duckett like jaiswal learn to play attacking cricket from England.

This idiot forget that sehwag test cricket overall strike rate is 85.

I don't know why to be honest.

But I do get the feeling that you guys really took the whole concept of Bazball as some sort of personal issue whereas most othe countries just shrugged it off and let them get on with what they were doing.

Nobody took it personally till the outrageous statements by the Bazballers on the tour of India.

And Bazball was buried in Dharamshala.
It doesn't work and India proved it that's all there is to it

Indians are just reminding browbeaten Pakistanis that they don't have to lose with such surety to this brand

You guys have no fire left in you, no wonder your ex-cricketers bemoan the lack of aggression. This has got nothing to do with Bazball, but the arrogance of the English cricketers towards the subcontinent. An arrogant statement made like this regarding India & we would have given it back in style to them.

He needs to be humbled big time but can Pakistan give that humbling to him like he still thinks he is part of the British Raj? That is the million dollar question.

What is a Takloo spinner? He’s like your pawar that chunky off spinner who was only good against one or two teams then would go missing. Gave Pak a hard time.

Indians take many things personally and give flack to many people.

You can have a match between Uganda and Namibia and still expect Indian posters to harass Ugandan players.

In a match between Estonia and Paraguay, a Bangladeshi Canadian Ozzie Kiwi gloryseeker will still attempt to malign Indians.

Tbf, he ain’t wrong! This is exactly why Pakistan need to get a big lead as possible.

Anything under 50 run lead and its advantage England.

For Pakistan’s sake England better win this 3-0 or else you will see endless whining about the conditons etc.

Playing on the same pitch as 1st test and uncertainty about 3rd test venues are the kind of things Poms would throw a hissy fit usually. Things will be normal till they are winning.

He seems to be suffering from a bit of wee man syndrome. Hope Pakistan make him eat his words!

He backs his talk with performances. Ben Duckett is a breath of fresh air in world cricket. Who even has the guts to talk like this anymore ?

Everyone wants Pakistan team to fire up, But that's exactly what Duckett wants...for them to change up their game plan. All Pakistan need to do is to keep the plan of being patient up.

Even in batting , take another day out, bat slow and make them bat on 10th day pitch.

I despise both teams. But I despise England more. So finish them pakistan.

lol. We know England also can crumble, crumple and lie down in the fetal position. These are just kind games. PCT go and crush them.

Good. Sick of the bland statements that foreign players dish out that Pakistan is a tough team to play and they have great players who can change the course of the game etc etc. It's all BS. Good to see a player calling out Pakistan like the minnow team it is.

Whats with you lot and the me me attitude?

Love this statement. Show you have some guts, pakistani players. You have been shameless for far too long. Its been 2/3 years now.

Pakistan can definitely crumble but atm, England has to do face-saving here. They choked as soon as the pitch did a few tricks.

But but brook crook is the goat talent. Bhesstt evaaa
Did you even see the ball that got him out? It was a genuine good delivery?

Atleast respect a bowler when he bowls well, I've noticed a trend in this forumn is that if a batter scores he's a goat, but if he doesn't he gave his wicket away?

Maybe respect the bowler for once. That type of delivery would trouble anyone.

bowler is good too but batsman is overrated. that was my point.

It doesn't require guts to state the obvious. Pakistan are the anti Australia, they can lose from any position.

Looks like England has crumbled here. Sajid took Duckett's words on his heart.

All teams crumble under pressure, and we do it even without it. England's Bazball will be exposed if Pakistan can apply pressure on the fifth day.
