Saud Shakeel during Australia vs Pakistan pre-game presser:

“It was slightly difficult to bat on day 4. They bowled well in their areas, but I think the cracks on the pitch play a bit more of a role there.”

“I think that in the matches I have seen in Melbourne, it is not that hard to bat on. We are looking forward to this test match.”

“As the media manager has already told us about him and he got a stress fracture, I think he is out of the test series and he is going back home. He bowled really well, and he also performed well in domestic cricket, so he got this opportunity. I am really sad for him that he got injured, and I think it is part of the game and you have to move on. We have a couple of good bowlers like Mir Hamza and Hassan Ali, and I think they can replace him and get wickets in the Melbourne Test match.”

“I think it is more about mentality when you come to Australia. They have good experience and a quality attack, and when you are playing in their home conditions, it is more of a mental than physical game, and as a team, we plan to just make sure that our approach is positive, and we have to go and score runs, and if you have to put them under pressure, you have to score runs.”

“I am a good player of spin bowling, and Nathan Lyon is a quality spinner as well. We were looking to just get a little bit more attacking options against him.”

“It looks like a green top, but I think they will cut that grass as the day goes on, but I am expecting the same kind of pitch.”

“I think the Perth pitch has the maximum bounce in the world. I think that this pitch will suit us, and we will try to go out there and score, put them under pressure, and try to win this test match.”

“I think when you are playing international cricket, there is always pressure, but at the same time, it is an opportunity for you to perform and make a name for yourself and your team.

“It’s a great opportunity if you look at it from a good point of view. If no one is winning a series here and we are performing well and winning the series, then as a player, there will be a lot of growth for us in our career. In my opinion, this is a good opportunity.”

“As you said, we don’t want to repeat the mistakes. You never want to repeat your mistakes. Look at the mistakes we made in bowling; the pitch was quite good on the first day. We had two young bowlers; both tried, but it takes a little time to adjust. According to this pitch, we gave away too many runs in the first inning. That day, we fell quite behind in the match.”

“Today’s practice session was quite good because we have played in Perth, and when we came here, it felt quite good. It felt like we were playing in Pakistan again. In my opinion, all the batters are feeling very good, and today was a very healthy practice session. Many players seem to be in good shape. I think you will see a turnaround in this test match.”

“As you see, our fans have expectations from us, and they should, because if you are representing Pakistan and have come here to play, it doesn’t happen that if you are starting your career, the expectations will be less from you. I hope that I will perform very well. As far as you have talked about Babar Azam, everyone knows that he is a world-class batter. It’s a matter of one inning, and he will bounce back. We are fully hopeful that he will bounce back in this match.”

“I didn’t say that the bowling was under pressure. I said that they were youngsters. If a bowler is injured, it’s an opportunity for other bowlers to come here and get a chance to play. Fast bowlers get help in Australia, so in my opinion, it’s an opportunity for them. If Mir Hamza or Hassan Ali play here, it’s a big opportunity for them to perform for their country.”

“If you look at it from Canberra's perspective, the practice we did there and the practice match we played there were a bit different. I was expecting a good bouncing wicket, but we didn’t get there. But when we went to Perth, according to my personal experience, I never played on dropping pitches. It takes a little time to adjust, but as a professional cricketer, you have to adapt quickly so that you can perform. There was a lot of learning for me in this match, and I learned a lot from this match.”

“I am very excited. Look, there are some nerves before batting, but apart from that, if I check the vibe of this ground, especially for the Boxing Day Test match, when I was young, I used to set an alarm for five in the morning to watch the Boxing Day Test match and the test matches in Australia. So, it’s a different kind of fun for me, and I am very excited for this match.”

It's good that they are going with a positive mindset but they need to execute things well also.

Honestly speaking with such a pathetic combination of the Pakistani team I am not very hopeful.

Pakistan didn't even bother to score runs last game.

They thought the rules had changed and you now need to match the opposition's overs rather than runs :shan

Why do our bowlers get injured in Australia every single time? Is the air pressure different or is the field bumpy there? It happens to our bowlers every time in Australia.
Amir in 2010, Sohail Khan and Rahat in 2016, Abbas and Naseem in 2019, now Abrar, Khurram and Noman are already on the list. Think a few got injured in the 2005 series as well. Inzi, A Razzaq, Sami

Saud walking the walk...

Made 70*(87) - Retired vs Victoria today

These cowards ain’t got a positive bone in there body imam & co are dead bat specialists.

Some of the stuff our players say makes me cringe.

All this talk of positivity, aggression etc but we rarely see it.

First step towards positivity.

Punish the bad balls and make the most out of it. That is exactly what David Warner does. Travis head does. WHenever it is loose they just climb on to it. In current Australian side there is nobody like Adam Gilchrist who used to thrash even good balls. These guys just put away bad balls.

Second step is Bazball :)

Gilchrist was a beast from another planet. Really miss his blistering knocks.

Take it easy saj :). Shan is only one test into his captaincy give the guy a chance.

The bowling selection for this tour is horrendous. Dahani should of been selected and started alongside SSA, Wasim jr, and jamal with usama mir seleced as back to abrar instead of playing BBL.

First choice pace trio if all were fit for this tour should of been SSA, Naseem, Ihsanullah with jamal the pace allrounder and abrar. Dahani and wasim jr on rotation.

Too much big words and zero to show for, Saud. Please dont get big headed like your seniors!

These guys talk the talk, but cannot walk the walk.

Saud looked terrible and out of his depth in Australia.

Pathetic series from him. I am afraid the signs are not looking good.
He said will be positive and put Aus under pressure 😂 😂 , this guy was like a toy 🧸 for the Aussies , ##chota don
