Pakistan has been ranked 52nd, ahead of India, among 79 developing economies in the Inclusive Development Index, according to a World Economic Forum (WEF) report.

WEF’s ‘Inclusive Growth and Development Report 2017’,released in Davos, Switzerland on Monday, said that most countries were missing important opportunities to raise economic growth and reduce inequality at the same time because the growth model and measurement tools that have guided policy-makers for decades required significant readjustment.

Lithuania tops the list of 79 developing economies that also features Azerbaijan and Hungary at second and third positions, respectively. India has been ranked 60th, below neighbouring China and Pakistan.

China is ranked at the 15th position, Nepal (27th) and Bangladesh (36th). Two BRIC nations, Russia and Brazil, are at 13th and 30th places, respectively.

The Inclusive Development Index (IDI) is based on 12 performance indicators. In order to provide a more complete measure of economic development than GDP growth, the index has three pillars – Growth and Development, Inclusion and Intergenerational Equity, and Sustainability.

Sher-E-Punjab seems to be taking Pakistan from strength to strength. The security situation has improved and now the economy is improving too.

This makes me laugh. Economically, India is ahead of Pakistan in every way that it can be.

People should get benefits of economic prosperity, Look at Gujarat one of the economically forward states but backward in Social Progress.

Why do we have to compare the two countries?

It always results in mud slinging.

An Indian PP'er would come and say but Pakistan is poorer than a church rat and then a Pakistani PP'er would give a rebuttal about the lack of toilets in India, so on and so forth.

India has done very well economically and their indicators are alot better than Pak, however they have a massive massive population and they would have to work a lot harder to be a developed country compared to what Pakistan would have to do to be a developed country.

Please take this Sher-e-Punjab and make him CM of your side of Punjab. We don't need anything in return.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Sums it all up perfectly.

So just because of trolls and haters, we should not compare the two countries? We should not let the haters silence us.

We should always compare the south asian countries to see where we are, but being better than the neighbours should not be seen as the goal.

Starving and dirt poor India is no yardstick to judge success. We should be aiming to be like Singapore, Turkey and Malaysia who are well ahead of us.
