Likely,
NZ gained a point against India
Pak and BD lost a point against SL.

If not for the washouts, the table may have looked

NZ 10 points
Pak 10 points
England 8 points
BD 8 points

With England and one of Pak/BD likely to finish ahead of NZ.

NZ don't deserve to qualify.

England, Pakistan and Bangladesh are all more deserving.

BD if performed a bit better could have beaten NZ and it would read NZ 8 and BD 10

New Zealand won a big lottery with their schedule.

They played all the easier teams first. Credit to them, they still won and got the points needed for likely going through to the semis.

Their matches in order:

1) Sri Lanka
2) Bangladesh
3) Afghanistan
4) India (Washed out)
5) South Africa
6) West Indies

If they didnt qualify after this, only themselves to blame.

But they did well.

Have you seen us this tournament? We haven't played well, most I've seen have said we don't deserve to make the Semis and will be easily beaten. No one has faith in this team.

It wasn't the washouts. They won 3 close games which could have gone either way. Had Braithwaite hit that for 6 or Williamson not hit that ball for 4 against SA , they would be in big trouble right now.

Clearly ! But Pakistan need to remember how badly they lost to WI before criticizing the schedule, it was their first and rather an easy game.

They are an excellent team. Just your openers are extremely out of form, cant expect your middle order batsmen to chase all the runs all the time without openers contributing.

Can I ask why isnt Southee being played?

Whenever we used to play NZ I knew we would be 2 wickets down for nothing because of that bowling pair opening.

NZ don't deserve to qualify.

England, Pakistan and Bangladesh are all more deserving.

NZ have lost to AUS and PAK
PAK have lost to AUS, WI and IND
BD have lost to AUS, ENG and NZ

So exactly do PAK and BD deserve to qualify over NZ?

NZ was lucky to share a point with India because of a rain. Pakistan had to share it with Lanka

Our fans complanig easy fixtures truly have no shame. We just about scraped past Afghanistan. Even if we beat Bangladesh I'm sure it wont be a thrashing.

It's not the fixture list that NZ have been fortunate with . They have found a way to win close games.

Difference is we haven't played well at all against the good teams.

Pakistan, England and Bangladesh have all had big wins against the top teams, we haven't. We've just gotten over the line with some fortune.

Sure, they wouldn't have beaten India. That 1 point will make all the difference for them even if they loss another match.

Pakistan just got over the line against England.

SA have been terrible this WC. The only comprehensive win they have had was against NZ.

Bangladesh have had wins against SA, WI and AFG. They haven't won against any good team yet.

So far - I don't think any of the 3 teams have played well against good teams to "deserve" a SF spot more than the other 2.

But if NZ beats England, then they would certainly deserve to be in the SF.

We're not going to beat England.

We've lost to all the top teams in the WC and would be 0/4 against them had the India match not been washed out.

New Zealand is fading away just at the doorstep of semifinals. I'd very much like the Indian team face them in the round of 4..

You should be looking to finish second, 4th is going to get you England/Pakistan. Both are so much harder than NZ. NZ is effectively a walk over Semi while England and Pakistan would have a good chance of qualifying.

NZ is capable of beating England. The latter will start as favorites but still NZ has the bowling to trouble England.

Henry Nicholls and Tim Southee should have been in the XI from game one.

I still can't believe that the most experienced bowler in the squad hasn't had a single game. Southee must play every match from here on.

New Zealand is a bigger challenge than Pakistan for India. No question about it.

But yes, England would be the most challenging opponent among the three.

Our batting is affiliate level if Kane doesn't score...

Batting has been surprisingly out of form. I'll give you that. Although Neesham and Grandhomme have shown good form but Guptill, Taylor and Latham have been quite poor.

It depends. If England lose one more match , then I'd say NZ have deserved their semifinal spot. If on the other hand , England wins both and Pakistan miss out due to NRR, then I think NZ were lucky to get a tough batch washed out unlike Pakistan.

New Zealand have been pathetic in the last two games, but they are still more deserving than Pakistan and Bangladesh though.

Why are they more deserving? A few bad ball here and there and BD win. So then BD would be more deserving to you? NZ haven't shown they're any better than England, Pak, BD. The 4 teams fighting for the 3 & 4th spot have shown weaknesses as well as strengths. Any one of them deserve to move on. I'm not sure why you keep putting your own team down so much, but damn it is getting tiresome.
