Only made the semi finals once in 9 World Cups since the ODI World Cup has gone to 50 overs in 1987.

1992 = Failed to make semis.
1996 = Beaten semi finalists.
1999 = Failed to make semis.
2003 = Failed to make semis.
2007 = Failed to make semis as hosts.

In 1987 they were unlucky
In 1996 they choked.
Rest of them they played like a minnows.

They've done well in Champions Trophies though. 3 finals in 1998, 2004 and 2006.

Still WI beat Pak in 92, 07, 2015 and 2019 World Cups on top of beating them in 1975, 1979, 1983 editions too.

Still somehow always manage to demoralize our World Cup campaigns. 2007, 2015 and 2019 were all humiliating and unforgettable losses. Particularly 2015 and 2019. Don't know what that says about us.

WI had a decent side in 07 plus they were the home nation but that performance in 15 & 19 WC was truly abysmal. Especially the 2019 loss because WI wasn't a good side & that was proved later in the tournament where they didn't win any other game apart from the last game i guess after beating Pakistan in opening fixture.

I think, 1987 as well, in reverse fixture, but by that time they were already out. Could have won the first game as well, but for the sportsmanship of Walsh. And, some of the defeats are embarrassingly one sided - by 10 wickets, inside 20 overs (total match like 35-38 overs), 150+ margin from like 1/4..... the 1983 SF was also one sided.

WIN cricket suffered a major decline after 1990s - the last great players from them were Gayle, Sarwan & Chandra - all debuted in 1990s.

WI goes to World cups only to deliver an epic phainty to Pakistan after which they switch to their usual minnow mode.

It took a freak show from Shame Warne, the greates bowler of all time to drop them in 1996 though.

Ever since the 90s they haven't been a great ODI team. They don't understand the importance of rotation of strike. Also they have been poor against spin and don't produce top quality spin.

West Indies have lost the plot in ODI format.

They have so much talents but they can't maximize those talents.

They won 2 WCs, I would trade that for what we have and we're considered one of the most consistent teams in WC only behind Aus I believe.

The OP is talking about 50 overs. WI’s 2 WC wins were 60 over contests.

Mid 2000s, WI had a good side-Lara, Sarwan, Gayle, Chanderpaul, Taylor, Collins, Edwards, Even Hooper. D Bravo.

Pakistan are as bad against the Windies in WCs as they are against India and it gets forgotten haha

But the Windies have essentially been ODI lightweights since 87 which is a bit sad.
