The West Indies tour of New Zealand 2025–26 will take place from November 5 to December 22, 2025, featuring a full series of three Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is across venues including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Mount Maunganui.

Kyle Jamieson and Ish Sodhi have returned to the BLACKCAPS for their upcoming KFC T20I series against West Indies, which gets underway on Wednesday night at Eden Park in Auckland.

Uncapped Wellington Firebirds all-rounder Nathan Smith has also been included in the 14-strong squad and could be in line make his T20I debut, after featuring in squads against Sri Lanka home and away last season.

Jamieson returns from the side injury that ruled him out of the ODI series against England, while Sodhi is back in the T20I squad after featuring against Australia at the Mount in early October.

The upcoming five-game series will be the BLACKCAPS final T20I matches before coach Rob Walter names his preliminary squad to contest the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.

Matt Henry, who missed the final two ODIs against England with a calf-strain, will miss the West Indies T20 series to undergo a pre-planned conditioning block to ensure he is ready for the ODI and Test series.

Kane Williamson wasn’t considered for selection after earlier today announcing his retirement from T20 International cricket.

The West Indies touch down in New Zealand on Sunday night and will take on the BLACKCAPS in five T20Is, three ODIs, and a three-Test series which runs up until Christmas.

Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Ben Sears (hamstring), were all unavailable due to injury.

BLACKCAPS coach Rob Walter welcomed the returns of Jamieson, Smith and Sodhi.

“Kyle’s been back bowling this week and is tracking nicely for this series,” he said.

“Nathan’s made an impressive start to his international career in the Test and ODI formats and we back him to do the job if he gets his T20 chance in this series.

“Ish is our most capped T20I player and it’s always great to be able to add his skills, energy and experience to the group.

“Matt has played every game for the BLACKCAPS since the tour to Zimbabwe in July - so it’s the right moment for him to have a short break and the fact he will also get some time to rehab his calf is another upside.”

Walter also acknowledged the T20I retirement of Williamson.

“His contribution to the team in this format has been immense, both in terms of his runs and leadership,” he said.

"To have captained the T20 side in 75 of his 93 games gives an indication of his influence and service to the side."

Walter said the side were looking forward to the five-game series.

“It’s great to have five opportunities to take on a dangerous side like the West Indies,” he said.

“I know the team is looking forward to getting into the rhythm of a full series and building some momentum following the rain-affected series to start the summer.

“The T20 World Cup is coming closer and I know it will be on people’s minds, but we need to make sure our focus is on this series at home and playing well in front of our fans."

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies has announced the squad for the five (5) T20 Internationals against New Zealand scheduled for November 5-13.

The Men in Maroon sojourn to New Zealand on November 1 following the T20 series triumph over Bangladesh and will continue to fine tune preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026, with the nucleus of the squad being retained from the previous series.

Matthew Forde, who suffered a shoulder injury in the summer has been recalled after successfully completing the rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols process.

He will be joined by Shamar Springer, who has been included to bolster a seam bowling unit which has suffered several recent injuries, including Ramon Simmons and Jediah Blades, who have both been ruled out for this series.

Left-arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie, will also miss the series following a recent dip in form attributed primarily to a technical issue with his action. With conditions in New Zealand not expected to be as conducive to spin bowling, the opportunity will be taken for him to work with specialists, through collaboration with the Royals Sports Group – owners of the Paarl Royals franchise South Africa, prior to his participation in December’s SA20 to address the issue and rebuild confidence ahead of the T20 World Cup, where he is expected to play a key role.

A significant addition has also been made to the management team, with Clinical Psychologist Krisnan Hurdle coming on board as Mental Skills and Performance Coach starting with the New Zealand tour.

Plans for this appointment were first announced during CWI’s Quarterly Media briefing held on October 1, after being identified as one of the immediate action items coming out of the emergency Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee meeting held in August.

Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe explained that the appointment of Hurdle is a strategic move to align with global practices while enhancing output for our senior team in the international arena.

“The addition of a Mental Skills and Performance Coach reflects our commitment to developing the complete cricketer. At the elite level, success is as much about mindset and composure as it is about technical ability. Strengthening this area ensures that our players are provided with the necessary non-technical support geared towards equipping them to manage pressure and maintain focus.”

BLACKCAPS wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert has been ruled out of the upcoming KFC T20I series against the West Indies with a broken finger.

Seifert retired hurt after being hit on the finger while batting for Northern Districts in yesterday’s Ford Trophy match against the Wellington Firebirds, and a subsequent x-ray revealed a fracture to the right index finger.

Canterbury wicketkeeper-batter Mitch Hay has been called in to the squad as Seifert’s replacement and assembled with the team last night.

BLACKCAPS head coach Rob Walter said it was disappointing to lose Seifert on the eve of another important series.

“We’re all feeling for Tim,” said Walter.

“He’s a key member of this T20 unit given his power at the top of the order and his role as keeper, so he’ll be missed over the next five matches.

“He showed in the recent T20 series’ that he’s building up to top form, so it’s disappointing that that has been halted as we continue to prepare for a pinnacle event.

“We’re hoping Tim’s recovery will be quick and he’ll be back on the park as soon as possible.”

Hay has featured in 11 T20 internationals for the BLACKCAPS since making his debut against Sri Lanka in Dambulla in November last year and holds the world record for the most dismissals (6) in an innings in T20 international cricket.

Walter said Hay was a ready and able replacement for Seifert.

“Mitch has shown in his international opportunities so far that he’s a top-quality wicketkeeper batter and is more than capable of contributing at this level.

“We’re lucky to be able call on another player of his ability which shows the level of depth we currently have in the T20 format.”

West Indies made a game out of it after seeimgly being down and out. 16 off 6 needed. Powell and Forde are both capable of getting it.

This should never have come to this. NZ yet again persisting with Conway and Bracewell.

2026 could be a repeat of 2024 World T20 for them.

I honestly thought Conway and Williamson's T20 careers were over after the 2024 T20 WC

The BLACKCAPS will welcome back Matt Henry for the upcoming three-match Chemist Warehouse ODI series against West Indies, starting at Hagley Oval on November 16.

Henry, who missed the final two ODIs against England with a calf-strain, is currently undergoing a pre-planned conditioning and rehabilitation block to prepare for the ODI series and the following three-Test series.

Henry is joined in the squad by Central Stags paceman Blair Tickner who retains his place off the back of successive Player of the Match performances in the second and third ODIs against England in Hamilton and Wellington.

Tickner, who was called up to the BLACKCAPS squad for the first time since 2023, claimed figures of 4-34 and 4-64 and helped steer the team home with the bat in the third ODI in Wellington, as the team sealed just its second ever ODI series win over England.

Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson and Nathan Smith complete a six-strong pace bowling group, with captain Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell and Rachin Ravindra providing the spin options.

Mohammad Abbas (ribs), Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O’Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Ben Sears (hamstring), all remain unavailable due to injury.

Kane Williamson was not considered for selection for the ODI series, as he focuses on preparing for the Test series starting at Hagley Oval on December 2.

BLACKCAPS head coach Rob Walter welcomed the return of Henry.

“Matt is a vital member of this group and the senior leader of our pace attack, so it’ll be great to have him back around the group for the ODIs and Tests,” said Walter.

“He will be fresh and fit after a good rest, and we know he’ll be raring to go ahead of a big five weeks with the white and red ball.

Walter said Tickner thoroughly deserved another call-up off after impressing in Hamilton and Wellington.

“We couldn’t have asked for more from Ticks against England,” he said.

“He brought plenty of energy and his pace and bounce proved to be a big test for some of the best batters in the world.

“It was pleasing to see him come in at short notice and perform at that level and that’s a testament to the hard work he’s been putting in away from the group.

“It’s awesome to be able to keep rewarding guys who work hard and perform when they get the opportunity, and we know he’ll be a big asset for us in another important series.

Walter said the West Indies would be a good challenge for the ODI side.

“The West Indies are always dangerous and have a host of players who can change a game in any format.

“It’s another important series for us as we continue to grow and improve in the format, so we’re looking forward to what’s to come.”

The BLACKCAPS ODI squad assembles in Christchurch on November 14, ahead of the series opener at Hagley Oval on November 16.

The team will be looking to extend their run of 10 straight home ODI series wins, following last month’s 3-0 clean-sweep of England.

Windies T20 cricket is still alive and kicking. Despite all the brain drain they have suffered because of T20 leagues the reality is that they are really good at producing T20 players. We've been seeing it for years now. This is why Windies fans shouldn't worry about guys like Pooran ditching international cricket. The pipeline will keep giving the talent.

Romario Shepard is an incredible player. I still remember one of his IPL innings where he absolutely destroyed Khaleel.

Kiwis wins toss and will bowl,

WI shows why hackish batting gives you a lot of dot balls. T hey hit six or four or dot. They are attacking every single ball. Still only 25 runs in 4 overs. Most of their power hitting coems late in the innings. IN power play they are cluelssly swinging from hips.

Fourth T20I washed out; New Zealand remain 2-1 up vs West Indies

Match abandoned West Indies 38 for 1 (Athanaze 21, Jangoo 12*, Neesham 1-5) vs New Zealand

It seems the weather deities didn't want New Zealand and West Indies to duke out two T20Is in successive days as rain in Nelson washed out the fourth game just 39 balls in. It means that New Zealand's 2-1 series lead is now unassailable. West Indies can level the series in the fifth and final game in Dunedin on Thursday.

Interruptions were expected at the start of the afternoon game as clouds hung low, and the weather forecast showed high chances of showers throughout the late afternoon and early evening. While the toss and start of play happened on time, the first interruption, of about 30 minutes, came five overs into the game. The second one came nine balls later, and resulted in the whole thing being called off.

In the short period of play that did occur, Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy kept Alick Athanaze and Amir Jangoo in check with swing and seam. Both bowlers took advantage of the overhead conditions and hit disciplined lengths on a used pitch. A lot of swings and misses from West Indies made way for two fours and two sixes between overs two and five.

James Neesham removed Athanaze in the sixth over. Jangoo finally got one off the middle to pick up a cover-driven boundary and end the 35-run powerplay. Soon after, the major weather interruption set in, and the game was eventually called off.

CRICKET WEST INDIES ANNOUNCES ODI SQUAD FOR THE TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies has announced the 15-member squad for the three (3) One Day Internationals against New Zealand scheduled for November 16-22.

This series, against a number two-ranked opponent, presents a prime opportunity for the Men in Maroon to gain ranking points and enhance the team’s prospects for automatic qualification to the 2027 ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup.

Left-handed top order batsman John Campbell returns to the 50-over set up following his recent Test success in India and strong performances in last year’s CG United Super50 Cup. He replaces Brandon King who has been omitted following a decline in form.

Matthew Forde, who was called up for the T20 squad to make his first white-ball appearance since rehabilitating from injury, will once again be featured. He, along with Johann Layne and Shamar Springer, will provide support to the pace bowling unit that will be missing Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Ramon Simmonds and Jediah Blades due to injuries.

Surprised Windies got 3 Tests.

Even Australia and India played 2 Tests each last time they were in NZ.

Daryl Mitchell will not travel to Napier with the BLACKCAPS today and will instead undergo a scan on his left groin in Christchurch this morning.

Mitchell experienced discomfort in his thigh while scoring his seventh ODI century in yesterday’s seven-run win over West Indies at Hagley Oval and did not return to the field for the second innings.

Mitchell will undergo a scan this morning which will determine the likelihood of his involvement in the remainder of the ODI series.

Canterbury batter Henry Nicholls has been called into the squad as cover and will assemble with the squad in Napier today.

Nicholls has been in hot from for Canterbury in the domestic Ford Trophy competition, leading the run-scoring charts with 306 runs at 76.50, including back-to-back centuries (117* and 138*) in rounds one and three against Otago and Auckland.

The BLACKCAPS relocate from Christchurch to Napier this afternoon, ahead of the second Chemist Warehouse ODI against West Indies at McLean Park on Wednesday.

BLACKCAPS batter Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the remainder of the Chemist Warehouse ODI Series against West Indies with a minor left groin muscle tear.

Mitchell experienced discomfort in his thigh while scoring his seventh ODI century in Sunday’s seven-run win over West Indies at Hagley Oval and did not return to the field for the second innings.

Mitchell didn’t travel with the squad to Napier yesterday and instead underwent a groin scan in Christchurch which revealed the minor groin tear which will require two-weeks rehabilitation.

The prognosis means that Mitchell should recover in time for the three-Test series against West Indies starting at Hagley Oval on December 2.

Canterbury batter Henry Nicholls, who was called in as cover, will remain with the squad for the remainder of the series.

BLACKCAPS head coach Rob Walter said the news was disappointing for Mitchell.

“It’s always tough being ruled out of a series early on with injury, particularly when you’re in hot form like Daryl is,” said Walter.

“He has been our standout performer in the ODI format so far this summer, so he’ll be missed for two important matches.

“The positive is that the injury is only minor, and we should see Daryl recovered and fit for the Test series.

Walter said Nicholls was a strong replacement.

“Henry has been in top form in the Ford Trophy and is an experienced international cricketer, so it’s great to welcome him back into the side.

“It’s always pleasing to be able to reward players who are in good touch, and we know Henry will be raring to go if given an opportunity.”

No Williamson, No Mitchell...some key fast-bowlers missing too, somehow I feel Windies will still find a way to not win

It has been the story for West Indies recently. They given good competition to the opposition and have good performances in patches but failed to win too many games.

They do well in patches. They do poorly most of the time.

Their ranking fluctuate between #8 and #10.

They haven't won consistently for a long time. It takes a lot of time to come out of that loser mentality. Losses by 4, 6, 6 runs shows the mental block they have. Hope they start winning again.

An impressive batting performance but the bowling will cost WI. They just don't have the bench strength to replace Alzarri and Gudakesh.

If NZ want to seriously outdo Australia, South Africa and India and win an ODI World Cup, they need to get rid of Young, Nicholls, Latham type players and invest in younger players like Mariu, Abbas etc.

Santner should perform like this in ODIs against Australia, India & South Africa. He never performs against top teams.

WI needed Alzaari, Shamar Joseph on that wicket today.

Tbh, the entire NZ teams finds a way to 'Pakistan' themselves against Australia.

There is clearly a mental block when they face Australia.

Very conservative selections by Rob Walter.
Yeah he's just continuing on with the previous group of players. You'd think he would bring a fresh, new vision to the team as head-coach. Conway is another guy whose form will just fall off a cliff one of these days

I think Conway is still an OK selection for ODIs. Terrible for T20's. But Young and Latham and Bracewell at #6 have been disasters.

If they can't give consistent runs to Muhammad Abbas, Rhys Mariu etc. even in meaningless ODI bilaterals then they really can't complain if they get knocked out yet again in semifinals or earlier in the next World Cup

He's performing now so you can't say he hasn't earned his place in the side, But as someone who is pushing 35 and has already seen his performance decline in other formats, how long before his performances start trailing off in ODI too?

It's kinda amazing how many age 33+ players New Zealand have in their side right now - Conway, Williamson, Latham, Bracewell, Mitchell, Henry, Lockie. And out of all of these, only Mitchell and Matt Henry look convincing enough to walk into the side in all formats.

It's a bit foolish of them to not even try out guys like Mariu, Abbas, Tim Robinson, especially when they have shown promise the few times they have played for New Zealand.

Key pacer returns to West Indies squad for New Zealand Tests

Kemar Roach earns a recall for the three-match series next month in New Zealand, with fellow quicks Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph still sidelined due to injury.

The West Indies have named a 15-player squad for next month's three-match ICC World Test Championship series in New Zealand.

Experienced fast bowler Kemar Roach wins a recall in the absence of first-choice pacers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, while right-arm seamer Ojay Shields earns a maiden call-up following a string of solid performances for West Indies A against South Africa A.

All-rounder Kavem Hodge is also recalled to the 15-player group for the Test series that commences in Christchurch on December 1, with spinner Khary Pierre omitted from the squad.

The three-match series will provide the Caribbean side with the opportunity to earn their first points in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle and West Indies director of cricket Miles Bascombe is confident his side is up to the task.

“New Zealand has traditionally been one of the toughest places for any touring side, which is why strong emphasis has been placed on targeted preparation. The recent high-performance camp here in Antigua was designed to replicate, as closely as possible, the conditions we expect to face, particularly the pace-friendly surfaces," Bascombe said.

“That level of intentional preparation, combined with the advantage of several squad members already in New Zealand for the white-ball portion of the tour gaining valuable time to acclimate, means this group goes into this series as well-prepared as any West Indies squad to tour there in recent years.”

West Indies squad: Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican (vc), Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Ojay Shields

Second Test: December 9-13, Basin Reserve, Wellington
