Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah (The illuminated city)

I have visited while:
  1. Health and Sick
  2. Young and Old
  3. Rich & Poor
  4. In a good (mental state) and in a dark place
  5. In a good state (of Islamic Faith) and while in a state of doubting religion

There is something magical when you sit in the beloved Mosque of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and all your worries, anxieties and troubles) disappear

Banff, Alberta (Canada):

Stunningly beautiful and on a much bigger scale then Europe.

Ummayd Mosque, Damascus

Just the thought that Prophet Jesus (Peace be upon Him) will descend here...

I have lived in Bangladesh for 15 years and Canada for 20 years.

Other than that, I have visited USA a few times (Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC).

So, I have been to 3 countries.

From these 3 countries, my favorite places:

- Sugarloaf Mountain, Maryland
- Niagara Falls
- Cox's Bazar
- Sylhet tea garden
- Jaflong, Sylhet
- Port Union Waterfront (Toronto)
- Banff National Park (Calgary).

Just north of Toronto, there are lots of farms and fields. I go there regularly to drive around and get fresh air.

Beautiful places. Very few cars. Fresh air. Lots of green scenaries.

I buy pure honey there. They also sell fresh vegetables, eggs etc.

@Stewie

Me and my wife went to Banff and we reserved a Toyota Corolla, the Hertz rental agency was run by some Pakistanis from Lahore and

@ElRaja

Instead what we got was a Dodge RAM 1500 because @sweep_shot Alberta, Canada (as you know) is truck country

It was either this or no ride.

I don't want to write a review on how this thing drives and break @ElRaja's spirit...

Lahore Lahore hai. But Aspen is very nice.

I also like Southern California.

Banff is beautiful (i live right next door) but there are many other national parks in Alberta and in BC that have stunning nature like Jasper and Waterton. Banff is more popular for some reason.
Also if you hop across the border into Montana, you will come across jaw dropping beauty that is unlike anywhere else.

It’s the United Kingdom.

Wales, England, and Scotland by road is the best kept secret in the world.

London does not represent the UK, neither do the other major cities, but the green pastures, hills, mountains, rivers, and the fact UK is one of the few countries in the world to experience all 4 seasons is real Britain!

UK by road is simply breathtaking - and IMO - simply the best.

It is stunning.
Even just driving through the New Forrest is fantastic... The horses and donkeys roaming free amidst the villages is so unique

Reykjavík, Iceland

  1. Praying Maghrib and Isha while there is light!
  2. Gusts from the Ocean 24/7
  3. 24/7 Geothermal heating and the whole place smells like sulfur
  4. "All" Muslims work at Costco :)

Our last international holiday was in 2019. Since then we’ve been on a UK ‘staycation’ every year, sometimes even twice a year.

We bought a brand new Nissan X-Trail (7 seater) in 2020, loaded it up with a Bose sound system, all the extras.

Only radio station allowed is Talksport.

Only choons allowed (driver’s playlist) - 99% of the time its me.

Phones switched off.

I spy with my litte eye!

My favourite parts are when I drive without the sat nav and trying to explain to the fam there was a time when we used AtoZ, wrote down our route, and if we got stuck we headed straight to the nearest petrol station, and bought the local AtoZ! They don’t believe it! 😂😂😂

Plus you got to LOVE a UK service station and then sudden down pour of rain as you head up North!

For hotel we opt for Hilton or any of its subsidiaries and avoid Travel Lodge/Premier Inn where possible.

No fx rates.

No roaming charges.

No flights.

100% in control.

@IMMY69 I also joined the English Heritage club. Totally worth it, as you get to see all the historical buildings, castles, etc for FREE! Which is superb values with kids, and plus you get to learn stuff too.

I remember passing Hadrian’s Wall and telling the kids - this is how far the Romans got!

This is one place I would love to visit. Iceland.

Unique country.

Pangong Lake, Ladakh, India 🇮🇳

I have been to many great places but haven’t seen beauty of that level. An overwhelmingly experience. Breathtaking natural beauty of no equal anywhere in the world.

Kids have no concept of Maps these day.

Even some adults don't know that we walked to find payphones once upon a time.

Baluchistan, Pakistan
  1. In the middle of nowhere
  2. Clear Skies above
  3. Praying on rocks and no mobile signals, no Internet, no civilization to distract you!

Ooh this is interesting...thank you

I'll look into into this when we eventually take our future grandchildren (inshallah, if we're blessed to have them) to see the history of this beautiful country

Mate how I miss those days of AtoZ..

My now adult children are amazed by my knowledge of london streets and I always remind them that we had to get around london using AtoZ and we actually learnt the routes rather then just sticking an address into a satnav.

The English countryside is stunning in the summer with its long days.

Tbf the whole planet is beautiful in this huge universe , there is only one Earth we know of !

The majestic nature of our planet is a tiny tiny tiny fraction of evidence of the power and majestic nature of the creator. This is what I contemplate sitting watching views all over the world!

I always tell the fam that best way to know your routes, is to get lost and find your way home. On top of this as someone working in IT, I try to explain redundancy - in other words - what are you lot gonna do when you have no battery!? The answer was they will call the AA. FFS!

My favourite AtoZ experience was back in 1995, we were heading to an illegal farm rave where the exact address was provided via SMS 15 mins before the start (no GPS cords, no pinging location etc) - but we were told of the area! We start driving from London towards Cambridge, and just couldn't find the place on the AtoZ. We spent hours! It transpired the AtoZ was from the 70s, and did not have the updated roads in Cambridge! Yup we went straight into a petrol station, end up at the rave, and had the time of our lives! Man, even getting lost with mates was so much fun! I really do miss those times.
