ODI Cricket is dying a slow death. It has become meaningless apart from the World Cup. So why not an IPL style 50-Over franchise tournament in which the world's best ODI players take part?

It could re-generate interest in the ODI format perhaps. Initially the tournament should be kept as short as possible. Maybe a one week tournament between 5 teams. See how the fans react and see if the market seems conducive to it and then slowly expand.

What do you think?

Because no one has time to watch those anymore not to forget injuries.

Aik dafa T20 ki lut lug gai hai why would they go to 50 overs? T20s are cheaper, easier to organize and manage, less air time, so easier for TV rights, etc and more people these days are interested in T20s than ODIs. ODIs will be gone in a few years.

These franchise tournaments can schedule two T20s in a day or back to back matches for teams without worrying about time and exhaustion, etc. You cannot do all that with 50 over games.

Once could make a case for 30 over matches with some new innovations to make them exciting.

Difficult to market.

iPL had the advantage of infancy as T20’s were a new concept and designed to attract non- cricket fans and casual viewers back in 2008.

Most viewers and fans will not have the patience to watch a 50 over game among franchises..

Who will watch 50-over franchise cricket? You already have domestic List A games for that.
