We have many threads where Pakistanis state what they dislike about India such as their extremist government, them scared of playing cricket with Pak and sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan but rarely get to read what Pakistani's like about India.

I like the old historic buildings such as the Taj Mahal and some of the landscape esp the regions where amazing wildlife such as tigers and elephants exist.

But there's nothing else

You?

I used to like the fact that they were committed to secular democracy. I was very envious of this but in recent years this has obviously changed so don't feel particularly envious about it anymore.

I also like the fact that they give their regional languages official status and have Hindi has a link language between different regions. It would be nice if we did something similar.

Their healthcare system is also good, especially in comparison to ours. They have produced many noted scientists and I am impressed by this too.

And of course, the historical and cultural sites would be great to visit.

They keep their army in check too, which is very important (although I do worry that this is changing, given the number of statements being issued by former soldiers and generals)

I find it hard to take their democracy seriously when they elect an right wing hard line government.

I do like the policy of providing free health care to citizens but have no idea if this is carried out.

I don't see why democracies cannot elect right wing hard line governments?
Austria have done it too, as has the US. Do you not take those democracies seriously as well?

The problem in India was that people had no choice. It was either Modi, whatever he was, or the incompetent, arrogant and dynastic Congress. They chose Modi. Nobody can fault them for that.

I don't think the people of India are worried about their international image, as much as they are about electing a government that solves their day to day problems.

The lack of diversity in opinions when it comes to hot topics like Pakistan.

The problem using the vote(democratic system) to elect someone who on the will the people but you then elect a party who has little or no democratic values, they dont believe all people are equal.

I agree the government is not worried about it's image, its too late for this.

I like that India has a lot more jungles than Pakistan with tigers in them. I also like the fact that they have a strong presence in the academics.

The south is supposed to have beautiful beaches but if I want to go to a beach there are many places I would prefer over India.

There is already thread of this type in past related to things indians and pakistanis like about each other countries. And there was good participation by lot of posters in that thread.

The obsession with Pakistan. Otherwise if they didn't turn up here I would probably be unaware of their existence.

I dnt think tgere is any place on earth or even mars or moon.Anywhere any place ,any company where ever there are human beings ,you would find indians there...

There medical system is much better then ours. They also have a higher literacy percentage. I have no hesitation in giving credit where deserved.

You seem interested in India as you have started this thread, but appear to be rather ill-informed. Other than the Taj Mahal and wildlife here are 10 things you may ponder about India:

1) An ancient civilization that had many intellectual accomplishments. For example, the Wikipedia article "Indian Mathematics" says:

In the classical period of Indian mathematics (400 CE to 1600 CE), important contributions were made by scholars like Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Mahāvīra, Bhaskara II, Madhava of Sangamagrama and Nilakantha Somayaji. The decimal number system in worldwide use today was first recorded in Indian mathematics. Indian mathematicians made early contributions to the study of the concept of zero as a number, negative numbers, arithmetic, and algebra. In addition, trigonometry was further advanced in India, and, in particular, the modern definitions of sine and cosine were developed there. These mathematical concepts were transmitted to the Middle East, China, and Europe and led to further developments that now form the foundations of many areas of mathematics.

2) The birthplace of many philosophical and religious traditions, Gautama the Buddha and yoga.

3) The country where various different refugees like Parsis, Ismailis, Jews, Bahais, Ahmediyas, Afghans etc. have come to to escape persecution.

4) An educational system that produces many leading engineers, managers and doctors. The current and past CEOs of many of the world's largest corporations like MS, Google, Pepsi, Citibank, Vodafone etc. were educated in Indian universities. Many of the world's leading corporations have do a significant amount of work in India. For example, check out "Inside Accenture India Offices | Take a look at the World’s largest revenue generating Consulting Firm!"

http://www.letsintern.com/blog/insi...s-largest-revenue-generating-consulting-firm/

5) The fastest growing economy among the large economies of the world:

https://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2018/01/daily-chart-3

6) Many large pharma, software, auto etc. firms, the largest of which TCS recently hit a market cap of $100+ billion. The pharma firms supply affordable medicines to poor countries around the world, saving millions of lives.

7) A leading space exploration program. Only one of 3 countries (along with the US and Russia) that has successfully reached Mars orbit. (The European orbiter hitched a ride on a Soviet rocket.)

8) A diverse country with 22 major languages and countless religions which has held together as a democracy for over 70 years now.

9) Diverse cuisine, and definitely the best vegetarian food in the world.

10) Hospitals where people from many different countries come for treatment.

11) Skyscrapers like the tallest residential building in the world.

12) And last but not the least, a cricket team that is ranked #1 in Tests and #1 in ODIs.

What do you mean by this? Be it at a state election like Punjab or at the national elections due next year, if the BJP were to lose, they will definitely pack up and leave. That's democracy for you.

If I'm in the right, please don't reply to this post as the thread will veer off in another direction. Cheers.

In a democracy the people vote for whoever they think will give them the best governance.

In India, the people had a choice to either vote for the Congress, a dynastic party with zero internal democracy which had been in power for the last ten years and had little to show for it, or vote for Modi, a politician with a checkered history but with an excellent record of governance. The people of India voted for the latter.

If the Modi government is found wanting in terms of governance and job creation, rest assured it too will be kicked out in the next election. That is what democracy is all about.

I used to be fan of how indian has gotten so liberal but not anymore.

Nothing about India fascinates me to be honest.

Not a Pakistani, but like a lot of things about Indians. Their humility, self criticism, tolerance and cleanliness. No wonder India is the mother of knowledge and civilization.

Pakistanis are so fickle - we just need to elect a new Prime Minister to unlock the true potential of this thread.

Which suggests that the opinions before or after don't matter too much after all.

That their leaders more or less keep their country's interest above their own personal gains unlike ours. And Kohli.

I like the fact that, generally speaking, Indians are more enthusiastic/place more importance on education..just being a mere graduate is not enough. Also liked how relatively simple and easy going the (average) Indians were- no 'show baazi', no 'ghumao pheir'.

Just thought, veggie food. Sorry guys but they do it better than us.

By us of course I mean Pakistanis and native Brits for which I qualify for both.

I know this is a troll comment. But, generalizations aside, most Indians are a humble and kind people. At least the ones I've personally met in my lifetime.

I'd like to spend 1-month vacation in India and explore its beauty : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R83BlU5nnbs

Although Bollywood is overrated by Pakistani people. They produce maybe 1 watchable movie per year...

1 - They keep their military in its auqaat. Ours owns the country. Between the two, theirs is by far the superior system.
2 - They protect their economy. We could care less about the economy, which we have outsourced to China. Our priorities, with our limited resources, are on ideological nonsense.

The thread is what Pakistanis like about India not what Indians think Pakistani's should like lol.

Im from the UK so the things you have mentioned do not impress me much. As for the Indian cricket team, why would any Pakistani like them?

That their leaders more or less keep their country's interest above their own personal gains unlike ours.

Er, I don't know where to start, but let me assure you, when it comes to looking after themselves, our politicians are second to none.

There are many things to like about India. Our political leaders isn't one of them.

Pakistanis are so fickle - we just need to elect a new Prime Minister to unlock the true potential of this thread.

What do you mean by fickle? I always thought Pakistanis are hard headed rebellious people, or at least that's what I've been told by non desis.

It was a list of suggestions for my Pakistani friends.

Im from the UK so the things you have mentioned do not impress me much.

And I live in a country which is economically and scientifically far ahead of the UK. However, I like all the 12 things I listed about India :))

None of that impresses me. I think what we may like varies according to our age and interests :afridi

History, culture, food, passion for sport (cricket), vibrant lively cities. Lots to like, and in fact many of the same things that I like about Pakistan.

Off topic, but Bollywood is a definite dislike of mine. Can't relate to content or the (over)acting, or the many people that like it enough to make it such a big blockbuster industry.

Fair enough.

There are many nations ahead of the UK in this regard but this doesn't mean they are better nations to live in. It's good you like your own list so let's see if any Pakistani posters will agree with your suggestions.

I think things like yoga, space program, pharma firms that save millions of lives, etc. should be liked by all irrespective of age and interests.

Absolutely ... I would add Temples of Southern India and the Mysore palace to this list. Nothing like it and Iam greatly indebted to the powerful southern kings from the past who made sure that the destruction of beautiful architectural wonders by the usual suspects did not happen as rampantly as it did in the North.

I'm not a fan of Bollywood but i do like how they've promoted the arts and culture. It's like Bollywood is part of India's culture.

The Chola Empire was quite amazing, survived around 1,600 years. One of the longest lived Empires in history.

Good probability that even a remote village in Uganda has more creative dishes than fish and chips.

I like the Indian mountains and Goa beaches. Besides that people in the rural areas are really nice and helpful.

Definitely the brainpower / intelligence of Indians. Majority are very down to earth too.

For India overall - I think there priority on economic development and GDP growth has to be greatly admired.

The Mughal architecture and history for sure. The vastness and diversity of the land is another thing that is great.
