I mean you look at their past they always seem to had that Carribbean flair but you look at their team now looks like minnow batting when i first looked at hetmyer he looked the real deal now he is lost looks like pakistan version of umer akmal couldn't fulfill his talent you see their new crop i just dont see that talent that touch or flair really sad to see wi in this state always want to see old west indies back hopefully someone step up they come bach strong again.

you dont learn test match batting by mistake, bowling you can learn against a wall, keeping you can learn in street cricket, but to learn to be a test batsmen their are so many technical aspects which are not natural that they have to be taught by skilled coaches and practised on varying surfaces against varying bowling attacks. once a batting culture dies its very difficult to produce batsman.

Windies Test match batting will likely never be the same.

- Poor quality pitches in FC cricket. Even in Tests there's uneven bounce on Day 1 or 2. As a result batsmen don't gain experience of building a long innings.

- Batting is a suit that requires more technical coaching compared to bowling, but quality of coaching is not uniform across the Caribbean islands. Only recently CWI have begun standardising the coaching framework across the islands, and set up a HPC in Antigua.

- The decline of school and club cricket has diminished the talent pool. If you listen to Carl Hooper's interview with PP, he said school cricket in his native Guyana is nonexistent.

- Little financial incentive to play FC cricket.

The argument that T20 cricket has destroyed Caribbean cricket is a lazy one.

Caribbean cricket has been in terminal decline since the mid 90’s, many years before T20 cricket was invented and became the most popular format.

Their decline in Test and ODI cricket have nothing to do with T20 cricket.

What has happened to the WI Batting Talent? Very simple, they are not batting against Pakistani bowlers

I would like to believe Windies have a lot of batting talent but they are very shortsighted (both the board and the players).

They chase easy T20 money and ditch national team. Players from other teams do it also but Windies have this issue far worse.

I don't see any solution to fix this, unless T20 stops completely (which is unlikely). :inti

Yup. It's similar to Pakistan that its due to multiple factors including poor management, poor domestic setup, coaching, selection, pitches etc.

As the decline gets further, the less gets invested into it and naturally the focus shifts towards making money from a board perspective. I think we're seeing the same play out in Pakistan while WI are at a much later/worse results stage of that.

You need good wickets to produce good batsman. If anyone has ever watched an Inter Island match you will know about the poor quality of pitches. Some awful spinners having an average of 20 and dreadful Medium pacers dominated the averages.

The conditions and the pink ball made batting very difficult.Starc bowled a brilliant spell.West Indian batsmen showed very little confidence. They were playing for survival.West Indies should forget about this match and prepare for future matches
