What is the point of having senior players in the team

If team is down and sarfraz cant help it than the two seniors players, Malik and Hafeez should uplift the teams morals. They cant bat or ball at-least inspire the youngsters.
Today Azhar Mehmood mentioned that when he made a debut he was helped by senior players like Saeed anwar and Wasim akram whereas Fakhar, Imam and Baber dont have seniors to help them out.

When you have “seniors “ who fail consistently on the big stage and are mentally weak like Hafeez and Malik then there is no point of them .
