All time overseas test xi for a tour of Australia

Barry Richards
Sachin Tendulkar
Viv Richards
Brian Lara
Kumar Sangakaara (W)
Gary Sobers
Imran Khan ((C)
Richard Hadlee
Wasim Akram
Curtly Ambrose
Murlitharan

Marshall is probably the best pace bowler ever but I chose Ambrose instead of Marshall. Curtly had a marginally better record in Australia and also by a whisker was more lethal with his disconcerting bounce and pinpoint accuracy.Ambrose at his best on fast, bouncy tracks was marginally more lethal than Marshall in single spells .Richard Hadlee's record also speaks for itself with phenomenal stats.

Sunil Gavaskar is unlucky to miss out but I had to leave him out to accommodate Tendulkar.Included Sachin because of his phenomenal overall record and success in Australia and placed him as an opener as I preferred the likes of Viv and Lara in the middle order.I preferred Viv Richards and Lara on bouncy Australian tracks to Sachin by the margin of a whisker, who could both dominate pace bowling and turn complexion of games to a greater extent.Viv would be my unanimous choice for an Australian tour with his mastery over the bouncing ball.

Sobers was a unanimous choice with his outstanding performances down under while the records of Sanga and Murli speak for itself.

Imran would be the best leaders and is my captain.

Gavaskar has a test hundred everywhere in Australia. Why is he not there?

And Murali in Australia? Are you kidding me bro?

Danish freaking Kaneria did better in Australia than him!!!

He should have made it on merit as an opener but I was forced to accommodate Tendulkar.I preferred Viv and Lara with their record in the middle order thus had to make Sachin open with Barry.Anyway I could exclude Barry or maybe even Sachin then.agree?

Why are you forced to accommodate Tendulkar. Tendulkar picks himself well over the rest of the players you mentioned.

Are you just throwing names here or actually making an XI based on their performance in Aus?

kohli might make it into XI after next series vs Australia which starts in December 2018.

Best England side:

Hutton
Boycott
Barrington
Hammond (c)
Dexter
Ames (w)
Botham
Wardle
Larwood
Tyson
Snow

We're not Viv and Lara more impactful in tests down under?I prefer Viv to Sachin in Australia as well as Lara as they were more mercurial.

Looks like a bunch of random names thrown together. Just like 99.9% of your threads.

Do you have ANY logical explanation as to why Barry Richards and Murali are there?

You were 'forced' to 'accommodate' Tendulkar? Seriously?

I guess it's true. Just because you can write long essays doesn't mean you're knowledgeable about cricket.

VVS has to be there because he did great against the greatest Australian team. Same for Lara and Tendulkar. AB de Villiers as well. So, there we have the middle order.

Smith( he won SA a series in Australia)
Gavaskar
Lara
Tendulkar
Laxman
AB de Villiers(wkt)
Imran khan(C)
Hadlee
Akram
Ambrose
Herath/Vettori

Mohammed Hafeez
Imran Farhat
Viv Richards
Brian Lara
Sachin Tendulkar
Clive Lloyd
Imran Khan
Alan Knott (WK)
Wasim Akram
Malcolm Marshall
Andy Roberts

The plan would be for the openers who are both known for their technique on bouncy wickets, to see off and blunt the new ball - before Viv/Lara/SRT are unleashed.

Bear in mind that the great Viv Richards averaged only 44 against Australia, due to Lillee.

Murali averages 70+ in Australia...

Mohammed Hafeez
Imran Farhat
Viv Richards
Brian Lara
Sachin Tendulkar
Clive Lloyd
Imran Khan
Alan Knott (WK)
Wasim Akram

Andy Roberts

Great list.Still would you not have Ambrose and Hadlee with their phenomenal records? Why no Gavaskar?Good choice of Roberts but still Curtly performed better.

Also no Gary Sobers?

Bishop, Snow and Ambrose if you wanted to pick the best bowlers and even Henricks.

No Gary Sobers. A champion in Australia?

Because the OP wants to include only one Indian and chose Tendulkar, when the top four ought to be amongst Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag, Graeme Smith, Gavaskar and Lara.

Hadlee should be the first bowler down. Absolute nightmare for the Aussies.

There we have it a 2018 Space Cat sighting, see you in 2049 when you're back from your mission, let us know when you find I Believe in the Teesra :))

@ OP Great team, just replace Viv with ABDV though and Sobers with Umar Akmal :yk
