Still 3 games to go, but who would you place as sure bets so far in your team of the tournament?

I imagine a few Italian and English players would make it.

Some food for thought:

Best keeper for me has been the Italian - Donnarumma.

The (now-injured) Italian left-back was spectacular.

What sticks out is that no matter how good the players, if you have an inept coach you have problems.

Everyone talks of Frank De Boer at Holland, but Didier Deschamps always manages to turn an incredibly strong French squad into less than the sum of its parts too.

Spinazzola, he was absolutely terrific and he'd make my team.

Donnarumma would be the 2nd Italian player I would immediately put in.

Looking elsewhere, the likes of Sterling, Schick, perhaps Pedri should be heavily considered.

Giorgio Chiellini would also be in my team of the tournament.

Whether Italy win the tournament or not, this guy has been a rock in their defence.

Raheem Stirling another who has to be in the team of the tournament.

All of above should be in the team. Liked Sterling and Pedri especially

I think Englands back 4 picks themselves here,

Walker had a few hiccups but has been good going forwards and recovery in defence.
Stones hasnt done much wrong either, brings the ball out nicly and defends it
Maguire has been colossal, completely turned around his career after a terrible summer last year.
Shaw, he now does everything, defends, attacks and playmakes, creates goals, stops goals best LB by a country mile.

and you were right!

Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named Uefa's player of the tournament for Euro 2020.

The 22-year-old, who is set to join Paris St-Germain from AC Milan, saved two penalties in the Azzurri's shootout win over England, which gave them a first European title since 1968.

Donnarumma, who denied Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka from the spot, kept three clean sheets in the tournament.

He is only the second keeper to win the award, after Peter Schmeichel in 1992.

Donnarumma played 719 minutes across Euro 2020 - more than any other player.

Speaking after the win over England, he said: "We were amazing. We didn't give up an inch.

"We did it from scratch, we are a fantastic team and we deserve this success."

Spain's Barcelona midfielder Pedri was named young player of the tournament.

The 18-year-old only missed one minute of La Roja's campaign, going off at the end of extra time in the quarter-final against Switzerland. He had just four senior caps before the tournament.

Spain boss Luis Enrique said: "What Pedri has done in this tournament, at 18, no-one has done. Not even Andres Iniesta did that; it's incredible, unique."

Cristiano Ronaldo finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals. Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick also scored the same amount, but Portugal's Ronaldo finished in front thanks to an assist against Germany.

Donnarumma ranked quite low, behind both Pickford and Courtois.

England trio Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire have been named in the official UEFA Team of the Tournament for Euro 2020.

Runners-up England had the second most players in the select XI, with champions Italy taking up five places, led by goalkeeper and player of the tournament Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Leonardo Bonucci, Leonardo Spinazzola, Jorginho and Federico Chiesa were the other Italian players included. The team was completed by Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Spain midfielder Pedri and Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku.

The line-up was selected by UEFA's technical observer team, which was made up of 16 former players and former or current coaches, including former England boss Fabio Capello and West Ham manager David Moyes.

Sterling, who started all seven of England's games at the tournament, scored Gareth Southgate's side's only two goals of the group stage, as 1-0 victories over Croatia and the Czech Republic helped them top Group D.

The Manchester City forward then got the crucial opening goal in England's 2-0 round-of-16 victory over Germany at Wembley. He also assisted England's opening goal in a 4-0 quarter-final win over Ukraine and won the decisive penalty in the last-four victory over Denmark.

Walker played every minute of all but one game - England's 0-0 group stage draw with Scotland - in which he was left out of the squad, switching between full-back in a four-man defence and right centre-back in a five-man backline.

The oldest player in the England squad at the age of 31, Walker's pace was vital in helping prevent opponents get in behind the defence throughout the tournament.

Maguire came into the tournament as a fitness doubt and missed England's first two games with an ankle injury, but instantly found his form to offer an improved passing option out of defence.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was named player of the tournament - the first goalkeeper to win the award at a European Championship - primarily because of the saves he made in Italy's penalty shootout victories in both the semi-finals and final.

He was an imposing presence throughout the tournament and, at 22, looks to have a long international career ahead of him.

Kyle Walker emerged as the go-to choice from the three right-backs selected by England for Euro 2020.

Walker, with his incredible recovery speed, proved almost impossible to go around and also showed his versatility by slotting into a back three when needed.

Leonardo Spinazzola missed the semi-finals and final because of an injury sustained late in the quarter-final win over Belgium, during which he made a goal-line clearance to keep Italy ahead.

His attacking runs down the left wing were a feature of Italy's breathless displays.

Leonardo Bonucci's long-time partnership with Giorgio Chiellini at the back has reached iconic levels, especially now that they are European champions.

Bonucci is 34 but as reliable as ever in the air and with the ball at his feet. He also scored the equalizing goal in the final, during which he nullified the threat of England striker Harry Kane.

Jorginho was another to enjoy an excellent tournament. The Ballon d'Or could yet be heading the Brazilian-born defensive midfielder's way after a season when he won both the Champions League with Chelsea and Euro 2020 with Italy.

Calmly stroked home the winning penalty against Spain in the semi-finals and was the conductor of Italy's recovery against England in the final.

Spain's Pedri Gonzalez was another stand-out performer. Just 18 and playing in his first major tournament, the Barcelona midfielder was a revelation with his passing, composure and technical ability on the ball.

His performance in the semi-finals, when he helped Spain to outclass a strong Italy midfield and had a 100 per cent pass completion rate in normal time, will linger long in the memory.

Federico Chiesa was not in Italy's starting line-up in their opening two games but emerged as the brightest spark of their front three.

Scorer of one of the goals of the tournament against Spain, his weaving run and curling shot into the corner, Chiesa was also on target in the victory over Austria in the last 16.

Raheem Sterling came into Euro 2020 out of form after a below-par season at Manchester City and ended it arguably as England's best player.

Sterling scored winning goals in games against Croatia and the Czech Republic in the group stage, the opening goal in the 2-0 victory over Germany in the round of 16, and won the penalty that clinched a semifinal win over Denmark.

I´m not qualified enough as expert to be actually picking a team of the tournament, but I´ve found two players who´ve heavily won my admiration. One is Sommer, the Swiss goal-keeper, and the other is Chiesa, and I look forward to seeing the latter in particular in the future too. Chiesa was the player whom I enjoyed the most at a personal level and was for me the player of the tournament, even though many must´ve and have played better than him. He looks like a seriously talented and capable player. Even in the Final, it was him who threatened England the most until he had to be substituted due to the injury. He challenged England´s defenders and looked most determined to score for his team.

As for the goal of the tournament, from amongst the 10 selected by UEFA, it would be a tie for me between Chiesa´s brilliance against Spain and, in return, Morata´s beautiful goal against them in the first Semi-Final. It´s a close call between these two, but if I really had to pick only one of these two, I would go with Morata´s, and that´s purely based on the fact that I was supporting Spain that day. Insigne´s goal, Damsgaard´s, and Pogba´s would´ve to be the other goals that I really liked. At least a couple of goals by Danish players too were really awesome against Russia, even though they don´t appear on the list, and neither do I remember any of them now. Schick´s goal would´ve to be the most unbelievable of all of them, but I couldn´t feel the same connection towards it because I didn´t watch it live. I had actually gone to the other room for only a few seconds as Schick´s goal happened in the meanwhile.

Moments of the tournament for me would have to be the Chellini stopping Saka from catching his train. Yes, it was plain hilarious, even if it wasn't in-line with the spirit of the game. But, this is football you know, and such are common occurrences in this sport. Besides that, the Hungarian player celebrating the goal against France too was an amazing moment in front of a huge home crowd. It's not a moment which I can describe, you really have to watch in order to understand what I'm referring to. The woman was shocked by seeing the player run up all the way to her! A priceless moment. Switzerland`s third goal against France, and the drama that then followed, was also most unforgettable. The last one was of course the match of the tournament in fact and one of the greatest matches ever. So I would pick these as the three moments of the tournament out of a tournament which actually had many others as well.
