What is your favourite shot from a particular batsman?

Kallis and Sanga's Cover Drive.
Ponting's Pull and Hook
Dravid's on drive
Younis' sweep
Misbah's slog to spinners
Inzi's six down the ground

Yuvraj's flick for six runs.
Kohli's cover drive
Jayasuriya's cut shot.
Sehwag's cut shot.
Sachin reverse sweep.
Dravid's on drive.
Ponting's pull
Gambhirs inside out shot.
Afridi's slog.
Dilshan pallu

Misbah six to spinner to straight boundary
Dravid flick of the wrist to leg side
Sachin straight drive
Yousuf cover drive
Younis sweep to spinner
Pointing pull shot
Morgan reverse sweep
Dilshan dil scop

One shot I always look forward to is Dhoni's helicopter. All these drives and cuts are played by hundreds of lallu panjus around the world, but helicopter shot is all Dhoni, the most iconic shot of our era.

Younis - a ball that looks like it needs to be driven back to the bowler, he grinds it through cover with bottom hand :)

There was a backfoot square drive from Mohammad Yousuf when he scored 202 vs England. It was sweet.

What a shot that was. Orgasmic.

Kohli - cover drive. Tendulkar- straight drive. Ponting- Pull and hook Dravid - any defensive shot. Dhoni - the helicopter. Gilchrist and Sanath - cut over point for six

Gotta add Babar’s cover drive to the list now. Those 2 cover drives he played against Trent Boult in the World Cup last year were just beautiful!

Tendulkar : Straight drive, leg glance, upper cut, backfoot punch..One of the reasons why i revere him so much. The number of difficult shots he absolutely nailed.

Lara: Cover drive, wristy pull, dancing down the ground to smash sixes to spinners. Absolute artistry. Impossible to imitate

Saeed Anwar: Everything. His whole presence at the crease was value for money
Even the defense was artistic.

Ponting : Pulling anything and everything short of length. Master at it

Kohli: Cover drive. Arguably the most biomechanically perfect cover drive ever in the game. His cover drive has a spiritual yet robotic perfection feel to it. .

Azharuddin: His standing on one leg wristy flicks had more swagger than all of the above mentioned combined.

Sangakkara : Master sweeper
He could sweep all day long against any spinner.

Ganguly: God of the off side. I have not seen any batsman continuously smash Wasim Akram in the off side area like Ganguly did.

Trent Boult : Flamingo Bat Defence (FBD)

Tendulkar- on drive
Ponting- front foot pull
Saeed Anwar- square drive

Even better when they played em on Aussie pitches.

Nobody mentioned Mark Waugh's leg glance....

You all broke my heart.....

Among present players, Babar Azam is the most breathtaking orthodox stroke player in my opinion. He's one batsman whose test inning I just don't want to miss. In this area Babar is followed by Kohli and a select few batsmen. Class is badly missing in today's cricket.

Overall, KL Rahul is the most devastating striker of the ball right now. When on song, his game is God level.

The ones I watched
Mark Waugh leg glance
Steve Waugh slog sweep
Sehwag, Jayasuriya, Gilchrist- square cut
Kallis,Sanga,Kohli,Martyn,Bell,Babar-cover drive
KP-switch hit.
Tendulkar,Steve Smith-Straight drive
Kane Williamson-backfoot punch.

Saeed Anwar, Tamim Iqbal, Kumar Sangakara - cover drive.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, Adam Gilchrist - hook shot.

Mark Waugh - leg glance.

Tendulkar - straight drive.

Andy Flower - reverse sweep.

Lara - one leg in the air pull
Tendulkar - straight drive
Ganguly - cover drive
Anwar - cut and flick
Basit Ali - mid wicket slog
Yasir Hameed - cover drive

Brian Lara’s cover drive / pull / hook / cut

Azharuddin’s flick shot

Saeed Anwar’s cover drive / pull

Hafeez’s backward defensive (edge between slips for 4)

Ganguly coming down the pitch to an offspinner and hitting a huge six over long-off
Jayasuriya freeing his arms to a widish short ball and square cutting it

Alan Lamb's square cut.
My word! That stroke was something else. The ball would literally travel with a speed of bullet, and would cross the boundary before the fielder would even take a step.

Front foot drives of the great Carl Hooper and Martin Crowe.

The Golden Boy, David Gower was also a delight to watch. Very smooth and easy on the eyes.

In the modern era, obviously there hasn't been a more classier stroke maker than M Yousuf and Baber Azam.

I also tend to believe that shots played on the off side, look a lot more pleasing to the eye. The two exceptions I can think of are,
Ricky Ponting's pull over midwicket and Jayasuria's wristy flicks and pick up towards long leg. Jayasuria was an extremely rare combo or muscle, timing and wrists of steel. Not many are like him.

Dean Jones also played some great pick up shots towards midwicket with a high back lift and great bat speed.
He has gone quite mellow now, but my word, he was a good old fashioned, stiff upper lip warrior in his peak. Dead serious with razor sharp focus on the game. Absolutely, ruthless.

Some of the worst and most ugly looking batting style that I've seen are,

Gautham Gambir, Greame Smith and Shoaib Muhammad.

There are perhaps too many to list, so I would go with the latest addition:

Buttler’s “flat” cover drive is a thing of beauty. No one can play it like he does.

Is that the one where he hits it straight to cover a la Headingley 1st innings/the most recent ODI

Why so bitter? He is comfortably better than all your ODI batsmen today, and a far better batsman than Paine in Test cricket.

Every now and then your strength can be your downfall as well. How many times has Ponting been dismissed off the short-ball?

The cover drives from Michael Vaughan and Mohammad Yousuf were just majestic.

I also miss seeing Ponting's pull shot.

Am I allowed to make a joke on this forum?
