Might be a bit too early to think about it but a good lead should give Pakistan a very viable chance of victory. So how much will be enough?

220 , it actually depends on how up and down the pitch goes. It seems to be playing ok atm

Anything above 225 would be a difficult target to achieve against a fired up Pakistani bowling lineup.

I can't see Pakistan losing from here, with even a 150 lead. Pressure of fourth innings chase will doom SA.

Well I was looking at the scorecards of the SA vs India and SA vs Australia series and there was only one successful chase, SA in the 2nd Test where they chased down just over 100 losing 4 wickets. In the SA Ind series a 4th innings target of 200-250 was always too much for the team batting last so even a lead of 200 and Pakistan have a great chance.

But I think SA will still feel they can chase 200 as it just takes one big partnership. I think a lead of 250+ and I would be very surprised with anything but a Pakistan win!

The hard part is reaching that lead though, let's hope Imam makes a century!

200-225 might have been a good score but I don't know if Yasir will be as effective on this surface. I think 225 might make it a 50-50 contest. I think Pakistan will need well above that, perhaps even 275 to feel comfortable.

250 would be a safe total but somewhere in the region of 220-230 should still make Pakistan favourites going into the 4th innings.

250 will be out of reach for SA.

220 will make It in favour of Pakistan 70:30

180 it could go either way.

150, i will back SA to win it.

Wish we had a fourth seamer here. Need to set a target of at least 250. The pitch has eased up. The key for Pakistan is to drag the game on day 4 somehow and hope for some turn for Yasir

I think anything over 250 will be very difficult to chase in the 4th innings especially with the uneven bounce expected to get worse.

South Africa scored around 220 in their 1st innings and wicket has played better today than Day 1. I would say to get at least 220. Because we won't see the last 4 sessions of this Test unless it rains ofcourse

Once pakistan reaches a lead of 150, each run would have a psychological impact on SA

I think anything over 225+, Pak can fancy their chance, i.e., you should look to score 270 on board to win this match.

It is tough to say how pitch will behave but with that score, my bet will be on Pakistan obviously.

200 would be defendable but that looks miles away right now. We need our last batting pair to pretty much put up 100 runs between them.

200 runs should be enough against this SA batting line up.

250 and we have a chance.
ideally 280 plus.

looks like 150 is what we'll end up setting.

Damn when Imam was batting looked like we could get a massive lead but now we'll be lucky to get a lead of 200 :(

minimum 175 I would say to make a match of it

If they can get to 180, they have a very good chance to.win. 160+ can be tight

So 149 will be the target for South Africa. It might get a little tense but I still see south Africa winning by 4 or more wickets.

The lead SA got in first innings was thanks to their tail... I would have backed pakistan if we had 180-200 but 150 we have to bowl really really well to get over the mark

A win is still possible.

Pak should open the bowling with Amir and Shaheen.

With some luck Pak may pick up some quick wickets putting SA under pressure.

25 runs short IMO. Still with no AB forSA and Markram going through a lean patch, on a pitch offering a lot of variable bounce, with a few early wickets, you never know.

Messed up completely. With 100/1 we are now 190 all out.I think SA will win it with 4-5 wickets in hand.A herculean effort needed by our bowlers.Unfortunately,i dont think the pitch is that bad as we made it out to be today.

Hassan needs to be tight with his bowling. He bowls good deliveries but gives away too many freebies mostly ,which cost a lot.And we DO NOT have runs to play around with.
