They've already moved him around in the batting order, but what position do you think Asif Ali should bat at in T20Is?

He needs to settle into International cricket then when confident move him to a later position.

Long-term, I want him to be a finisher. But rn 3 is fine to give him some confidence

So far it's been:

6
4
4
6
6
6
6
6
6
4
5
5
3
3

Whatever that position is - it has to result in a better strike rate than this.

I thought he played decently, put in a difficult position by Babar. Could have been a bit quicker I guess.

I do like him a lot at 3 though, and think it's best for him to play there. Let the seniors bat down the order as honestly they're not going to be able to bat anywhere else lol.

Asif Ali is not a one down batsman, atleast not on these pitches anyway. Thats because hes doing nothing that Hafeez, Malik or Sarfraz wouldnt do if they bat at 3. His strike rate was pathetic today, needs to bat at 4 or 5 in my opinion

He should bat at No 3 becoz he is comfortable against pacers while Hafeez and Mallik can play the role of finishers ,both can smash spinners at will. Today's batting order was perfect.

Agree.

He played really well today at 3 and this in a chasing situation. Didn't try to hit the first ball out of the park, got himself in and then used him immense power along with good shot selection to clear the ropes. Keep him at 3 for the next 3/4 matches so he can get some confidence and improve.

6 or when there is 6-7 overs to go.

Gets bogged down against spin and scores slowly.

Should bat when he can free his arms against the pacers and will only have to bat an over or two of spin.

I think if they want to play him then they should just say to him go out there and hit out. I guess that means going down the order at perhaps 5, 6 or 7.

If he gets bogged down at 3 and is batting with Babar Azam then that spells trouble for Pakistan.

He should open the inning instead. He is good against pace. He and fakher will make destructive opening pair Even in odis

He seems lost whenever he has to accelerate - not sure how he will fix that issue.

If fakur Zaman gets out early, then Asif at 3, else hold him back till at least 14 overs are completed.

Asif at 3 is good imo.... I'm still not convinced a 100% with him but if he has to play he has to face the bulk of the bowling so that he can go hell to leather when set.

He should play at number 5 position. Malik needs to be persisted with at number 4 as he needs some time to settle down.

Fakhar
Babar
Hafeez
Shoaib
Asif Ali
Fahim
Sarfaraz
Imad
Shadab
Hasan
Shaheen

he should bat at 3 because if fakhar goes early we need someone woh can score agressively. but if babar goes early we most probably can send in hafeez or malik to bat through

His position in the order should be flexible.

He should be able to bat any position between 3-6 depending on the situation.

Sad he wasn't kept at 3. He's better against pace, and since we tend to consolidate opening overs, he'd inject some fire power there.

Plus I prefer Hafeez at 4 too, more opportunity to attack spinners.

Sent in later in the innings.

Looks like confidence player to me and at the moment seems a bit low on confidence.
