Shadab doesn't have show off syndrome, Hasan and Faheem definitely do though. Shadab is going through a rough patch, he will get out if it. The team management and old friends of Shadab have said he is the hardest worker in the Pak team. He will be the first one up at dawn and exercise in the morning. He also goes to bed at 9-9:30. He is quite disciplined.
It is a habit of Pakistanis to come up with lame excuses to drop a player or to explain his bad performances.

The problem is these youngsters became a new wave of celeb in Pakistan, phase one of the millennial generation if you like and they just cant handle it. Their egos became too big and they need to be bought back down to earth. lets hope the shahs and the hasnanin etc learn from their mistakes and the more exposure they get around the globe will hopefully shape their character.

Faheem and Shadab were always mediocre and I still don't understand why some of our fans were hyping them up as if they were the second comings of Warne and Klusener.
Faheem was hyped just because he once scored a quick-fire fifty in a warm-up against Bangladesh and people started to make threads and believe that he was actually better than Pandya.
When the same fans started to understand that he was a crap batsman, not capable of scoring 10 runs on a good day, they started with the narrative "Faheem is a better bowler and Pandya is a better batsman". Again, it was nonsense. Pandya the bowler is not great but still a level or two ahead of Faheem the bowler. Faheem averages close to 80 with the ball against top teams in ODIs, and 12 with the bat. These kind of stats don't belong to street cricket, forget international cricket.
Shadab was hyped after some flashy performances during a PSL season and some WI bashing in his first series. He bats at number 7-8 for Pakistan, where he is supposed to play the role of a hitter capable of striking at 120 in the last 10-15 overs of an ODI. Forget 120, his strike rate is barely comparable to some players' Test match strike rates. Moreover, just like Faheem, his bowling record is pathetic against top teams. His recent scandal with that girl is just a reflection of his priorities.
They both deserve to be thrown out of the team, as no team in this world carries 2 players who literally bring nothing in terms of performances or impact, but also 2 players who would be the first ones to find a place in the most useless XI with the most pathetic stats a player can have.

This is a serious allegation. This is not just a regular breakup or hookup story. If proven, Shadab can be subject to the court under cybercrime and harrasment charges.
If this is true, and there has to be some substance to the matter otherwise Shadab should legally challenge it, Shadab is a disgusting miserable person for threatening to do that.

But still - he hasn't committed a crime and as such, the thing that matters for his selection is his performance. He just doesn't merit a selection at the moment. T20s is basically the only place where he's still useful or Pakistan.

If only these players cared half as much as the fans do. They are supported all over the world but what's their priorities ?
Chasing girls, making a cheap buck and exploiting their celebrity status. They don't care to improve their skills or work hard on their game. Frankly, except Babar and maybe a few others - I don't think any of them give a damn.
I don't always agree with [MENTION=131701]Mamoon[/MENTION] but on this he's right. Forget just blindly following domestic stats, I want to know as a selector what kind of human beings these cricketers are and whether they are emotionally mature enough to handle the spotlight. Can they intelligently conduct themselves in public ? By doing so, they're far less likely to end up in controversies and stray from their cricketing priorities.

As I have said many times before, these two pathetic cricketers have been hyped out of sheer desperation of our fans to find a proper all-rounder.
They are both glorified tail-enders with the bat and complete minnow-bashers with the ball. Shadab won’t even get into the Afghanistan team, and Faheem might get into Zimbabwe.

International cricketers lead a lifestyle in which they are exposed to the cultures of western as well as eastern societies. I could not care less who cricketers go to bed with, whether they are unfaithful or whether they breach the religious tenets of a certain faith. Every western cricketer does it, the only difference here is that Pakistan cricketers haven’t been educated to treat sexually active unmarried women with the respect they deserve.

I too want to give these boys like Shadab the benefit of the doubt, of course I do, but when you keep hearing about the sort of mess and trouble they are getting into then it is worrying and you have to wonder just what on earth is going on with them.
What they do in their private life is entirely up to them, but I guess the concern of many is that off-field issues affect their performance and focus on the field.

Off-field issues? Nothing about Imad smoking cigarettes and failing fitness tests, no concern for fitness at all and is the same age as Kohli and plays like an U19 cricketer.
People have had it out for Shadab ever since they saw him smiling or laughing on the cricket field and thought he takes the game as a joke, he is still young and learning and this is the thing people forget.
A guy from the village who probably had no contact with girls, money or any of this stardom all of a sudden within 2 years is a famous cricketer in Pakistan, sponsorships, money, ads and plenty of girls. All of this happening and he's only 21 years old, on top of that you can just be SURE that PCB haven't given him any media training or briefings about this stuff.
Yeah his performances have dipped, but he's a young leg spinner who was bound to get found out. He still is one of the best athletes in the team, the best fielder. Sure his performances have dipped but he has ALOT of time to improve.

Not sure why shadabs personal life is being discussed here. His bowling though needs a reset and time away from the international scene to focus on first class cricket will be helpful

First - I am not sure blackmailing in general is a crime. But if you're referring to him blackmailing her that he will release pictures, the text isn't proof that he is the one starting this whole thing. Anyway... Pakistan cricket won't suffer at all if this guy doesn't play again. His only real value has been in T20s and even there we will easily find someone to replace his type of bowling. I like Shadab's fielding... that's about it. He's a trash leg-spinner as things stand now.

I don't understand how these random girls take moral high ground every time things dont go according to plans/wsihes.
First you get attention of an international cricketer who has thousands of girls fighting for his attention, probably using your beauty/body as a bait.
Then you fly allover the world with your own free will to to go bed with him and enjoy the sort of excitement that very few fortunate international star get to enjoy.
Finally, when things inevitably go south, you blame it on the horrible person that you did every thing for.
These girls deserve equally as much blame as international cricketers, if not more.

There are serious cricket dimensions to this case which people seem to be avoiding.
Those of us who live in western countries know that even when educated and intelligent Pakistanis are brought over to marry British Pakistanis, their cultural dislocation leads to them seeming to be the Village Idiot - even when they are actually more intelligent and educated than their new family.
In the West we have arrived at a happy point in history at which western adults, male and female, no longer see any connection between sex and marriage. To us, there is no more connection between “sex and marriage” than there is between “basketball and marriage”.
Men and women in their twenties in western countries engage in such activity without any thought of “marriage” or “reputation”.
The problems come when people from different cultures arrive and take advantage of the sex part. As we can see from this case, a foreign man often thinks that the willing woman is of lower moral value and often follows his own cultural norms in terms of feeling entitled to threaten the woman.
And this can cause huge damage to the reputation of Pakistan cricket.
In this case, Shadab appears to have committed a criminal act (blackmail) whereas the woman has done nothing that every western woman under 30 hasn’t done with a man she won’t marry. He appears to have felt that he had the moral high ground, when the reverse was the case.
Pakistani cricketers are always going to have easy access to sex on tour.
Some, like Wasim Akram and Wasim Raja, will embrace the cultural differences and settle down with a local girl eventually.
But the cases of Shadab and Shaheen show that Pakistani men often have no idea how to handle and manage sexual activity in the West.
I think that it is ludicrous to expect semi-educated culturally-lost men like Shadab and Shaheen to educate themselves about how to handle this. It’s equally ludicrous to punish them for their ignorance (and I would say the same about Ian Botham’s mother-in-law comment).
Sex in western countries is always going to be part of the attraction of international cricket for Pakistani cricketers. And the combination of Islamic teaching, exposure to porn and cultural ignorance will always make Pakistani players vulnerable to treating sexually-willing women in a way that may cause upset and scandal.
The PCB really has an obligation to run workshops for the players about it just like it does for fixing.
And the course material should cover both western expectations of respect for sexually active women and practical sexual health education. Shoaib was quoted as a role model earlier in this thread, yet the PCB published confidential details of his sexual health.
But if the PCB adopts a hands off approach their cricketers will just keep getting into scandalous situations.

The extraordinary thing is this.
Three failing senior players - I’m assuming Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez - have made numerous slurs against their younger, higher-performing teammates.
But the slurs are nothing to do with cricket, except for the vague “spends too much time outside cricket” accusation.
In effect, failing seniors are conspiring to get more successful juniors thrown out of the team for not seeking their patronage.
