Pakistani dramas are the best no doubt.

Mere pass tum ho.....

Very hard going that one!

mere pas tum ho, ehde wafa, i will start waching Alif but time hi nai mil raha :(

Currently Alif. Great stuff by Umera.

Dont have the patience for the shitshow that is, meray pas tum ho.

Watching three Pakistani dramas at the moment :

- mere pass tum ho
- thora sa Haq
- ruswai

Haven’t seen Pakistani dramas as good as these 3 for years , (well apart from Hafeez‘s press conference recently after scoring a 50 v Bangladesh - what a drama that was :) )

Alpha bravo charlie, Tanhaiyaan, Pyare afzal and just started watching Mere paas tum ho..

Tried to give watch Eh De Wafa a shot but it was a bit too cheezy when compared to Alpha B C, well the first episode that is..

Haven't watched any other Pakistani shows yet.

Mere Pass tum ho. ( ruined by a stupid typical ending)
Thora sa haq
Khuda aur Mohabat

Another drama worth watching is Bandish which was on air on ARY early 2019. Deals with black magic. Was a well made drama with the subject.

Watched all 24 episodes of Mere paas tum ho last week. It’s the first Pakistani drama I have watched for a very long time. The hype that drew my attention to it is most certainly well placed.

I didnt know men also watch drama serials . thought drama serials were made exclusively for housewives

Sub set hai on YouTube because someone recommended it, it was really good but beware of the early 2000s video quality

I didnt know men also watch drama serials . thought drama serials were made exclusively for housewives

I don’t usually watch them, however Mere paas tum ho is an exception.
I watched a couple of episodes due to hype, by family and media, and ended up watching the full drama over 3-4 days last week.
For me it was a must watch and I would struggle to not rank it along side the very best series I have watched (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, GoT etc).

Mere pass tum ho.....

Very hard going that one!

Spontaneous celebrity Insta-live sessions are very capable of leading up to controversy, with celebrities making comments that can turn out to be offensive.

Quarantined in their homes, speaking into a cellphone camera rather than in a studio surrounded by people, the very famous tend to get candid. Actor Naumaan Ijaz recently did so and some of his comments raised eyebrows.

In a live session with screenwriter, actor and director Vasay Chaudhry, Naumaan grinned and declared that actor Humayun Saeed needed to learn how to act. “He is yet to learn it but I hope that he will learn.” Actor Adnan Siddiqui, according to him, was also in the same boat.

Video recordings from the live session promptly went viral with social media criticising Naumaan for making such high-handed comments about his co-actors. Others conjectured that he was probably joking because the session was just a candid talk between friends.

The next day, Naumaan came online in another live session – with designer Munib Nawaz – where he said that he had been joking and Instagrammers had randomly taken a single quote of his and put it out of context.

“These bloggers don’t have any business these days because actors generally pay them for their promotion. So they need to stir controversy just in order to run their ‘sasti dukaanein’ (small businesses),” he said.

But regardless of whether Naumaan was joking or not, his fellow actors have their reservations about his comments regarding them.

Actor Humayun Saeed observed, “If God has blessed you with izzat (respect), then you need to appreciate this and respect others. I have always been very respectful towards everyone and in return, I have received more respect and love than I could have ever hoped for."

"Whether Naumaan was laughing or was serious, he was right about one thing: I am still learning and I hope that I will continue learning. He, meanwhile, was very well-learned in the very first serial that he acted in and he still is the same in his latest projects. I don’t want to be like that. I don’t want to ever feel like I have learned everything, because if I do I will not be able to surprise people with new work.”

Adnan Siddiqui, similarly, commented, “We, as human beings, at times forget that we have an Almighty who is watching over us and blessing us. At times, we make fun of our fraternity members which I feel is uncalled for. I don’t think that I am a good actor but I am extremely thankful to Allah for blessing me with love and respect in abundance. And who are we to make fun of someone who has been blessed by Allah?”

“We don’t make fun of family members in public, we always do it in private. Similarly, when we as a fraternity criticise someone’s work we do it in private and not in public. People sometimes try to get away from what they have said by claiming that it was a joke but one can see through what the person really meant under the garb of a joke.”

Both Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui starred this year in a drama that broke records, Meray Paas Tum Ho, and won rave reviews for their performances. The comment – or even the joke - that they need to learn how to act was bound to rile their fans as well as the actors themselves.

‘Churails’ becomes an instant hit as the first Pakistani show on an Indian streamer

Pakistani director Asim Abbasi’s freshly-released trailer of the new series Churails has become an instant hit, leaving anticipated viewers with chills, as they count down days for its release.

The fresh storyline of the show getting released on OTT platform ZEE5 introduces four headstrong women—a wedding planner, a lawyer, a boxer and an ex-convict—who join forces to spy on cheating husbands.

Through their jointly-created detective agency, the four leading ladies eventually draw in more women willing to partake in their mission, that is until they face a blockade.

In a statement issued earlier, Abbasi spoke about the series getting launched on an Indian video on demand platform: “Zindagi’s commitment to truly original content that has a voice and can transcend borders has provided me with the perfect platform to create a show like Churails.”

“A story about strong women, embarking on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment and sisterhood, I believe Churails is a timely show with pertinent themes that will resonate with audiences globally,” he added.

The series has also caught the attention of Bollywood bigwigs like director Anurag Kayshap, who tweeted: "Had no clue this was directed by Asim Abbasi. Adding to my watchlist. His first film Cake was such a delight.”

The Abbas-directorial brings to light Pakistan’s finest female stars including Sarwat Gilani, Yasra Rizvi, Nimrat Bucha and Mehar Bano.

Gilani was quoted by IANS, as saying: “Churails is about having a realisation of what all you can do as a woman. It gives an understanding, insight, awareness, and complete realness of life through the characters and its story.”

“The story is well written and fabulously directed by Asim Abbasi. He literally took our breath away with his work. It has been an amazing feeling to be part of the super revolutionary change that this project is going to bring. Churails as a show has a lot of calibres to catch eyeballs at the international level,” she added.

Mehar Bano also recounted her experience as she stepped into the gallant role: "Playing Zubaida has been a personal milestone. She taught me the value of being a protector, the importance of sisterhood and she is, in essence, a fearless warrior who is so compassionate that seeing other women in jeopardy keeps her up at night."

The show will be launching on ZEE5 from August 11.

For all you fans of ‘The Crown’, we have some exciting news for you. Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed has just been confirmed in the role of Dr Hasnat Khan, who will feature in the Netflix show in season 5.

Variety confirmed in a report that the popular Pakistani actor will portray the important role opposite the actress who will take the mantle for Lady Diana.

For those unversed, Dr Hasnat Khan is a British-Pakistani heart surgeon who practised at London’s Royal Brompton Hospital. According to his 2004 statement to the Metropolitan Police, which was submitted in 2008 while investigation into Princess Diana’s death continued, stated that he was in a relationship with her from 1995-1997 and that she broke up with him after she met Dodi Fayed at a holiday with Mohammed Al Fayed and his family.

In the statement, Dr Khan said that he had considered a life with Princess Diana, but the situation with the press was too much for him. He had thought of a solution, which was to move to Pakistan – something Diana contemplated and even discussed with Jemima Goldsmith – who was at the time married to Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan. Imran is currently the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Dodi Fayed and Princess Diana died together in a road accident in Paris in 1997. 'The Crown' season 5 to feature Diana's controversial interview with Martin Bashir

As for The Crown season 5, we will see Elizabeth Debicki play Princess Diana. Dodi Fayed will be played by The Kite Runner star Khalid Abdalla.
